Long story short, I switched from Spectrum to Frontier on Friday.  In my neighborhood, Spectrum kept dropping service.

Anyway, I've been on chat or on the phone for at least 7 hours since Friday.  The help desk in India probably thinks I'm batshit crazy at this point.  I think the assistance they've provided has been utterly useless.  I had 500 MBPS with Spectrum.  The Frontier plan is supposed to be 1 gig.  When Spectrum worked, I NEVER had an issue with lagging internet/video.  Since Friday, watching tv has been a nightmare.  For example, I timed clicking on an HBO Max movie to actual video at 47 seconds.  IOW, I got the spinny/loading icon for 47 seconds after pressing play.  Frontier is all...

1. Put your router in a centralized spot.  The router is in the exact same spot as where the Spectrum router was.

2.  Perhaps there are obstacles.  Nope.  Same spot PLUS I added an extender over the weekend for the devices upstairs.  The exact same TVs that are lagging now worked just fine under Spectrum WITHOUT the extender.

3.  Maybe you have too many devices connected.  Nope.  Same devices; nothing new.

4.  "On our end, we're showing close to 1,000 MBPS being delivered."  Running tests on OOKLA and another app, I'm getting anywhere from 15 to 85MBPS.

I plugged the fiber cable directly into one of my desktops, and it ran slowly as well.  So, I don't think it's the router but I can't convince them it's the cable because, according to their remote tests, I'm getting proper service.  I'm not sure where to go from here.  I'm trying not to turn into a Karen, but good gosh this is frustrating.

Is it your router or their router?

If you hooked your computer strait to it it's about the only thing it could be

It's the Frontier router.  One of the things they wanted me to check was the speed of my desktop with the fiber cable directly connected (as opposed to through the router).  So, slow speeds via the router and slow speeds bypassing the router.

Man I don’t think I’ll ever have internet piped into my house again. That shit is a beating.

T-Mobile fucking kills it on the home WiFi. Even at our ranch - solid service even though T-Mobile phones don’t work that well out there.

I’m going on 4 years with T-Mobile WiFi.

Just got 270 down on speed test. It will be a little better tonight.

If it's a new service, why tf don't they send a tech out so that you at least have someone there to troubleshoot it rather than going back and forth with their tier 1 support. The tech may not be especially savvy, but he can see that you have multiple devices, hardwired and bypassing the router that gets abysmal speeds using standard tests.

Have you ever done a tracert?  I would run a tracert to ookla, Google DNS, a cdn, whatever you can think of and see where it goes. Frontier techs are probably just running a connectivity test from their fiber distribution point/hub directly to your modem. Yeah, no shit it works fine, there is nothing between here and there.  Your other tests are actually making multiple hops to reach other networks, and something's slowing it down along the way. You may need to demonstrate that concept to them until they get someone to help you that understands.

Do all the dumbass shit they suggest though, eventually they will hit the end of their script and escalate.

Who has a fiber nic in their computer these days?

I'm sure he meant "ethernet cable". My mom used to say "the wifi cable isn't working anymore". WiFi Cable.

They could have just given you outdated hardware. Spectrum did that to me. Just went to their store, guy laughed at how dumb their service team is and just grabs shit off the shelf.

He gave me the latest and greatest and zero issues since.
