  1. Vaccinated almost 2 months ago. Had to get a covid test because flying int’l today. The process for testing and sending results is less than ideal. Almost seems comical. not looking forward to being on an airplane 10+ hrs with a mask on. Thankfully, I can still get drunk in 1st class.
  2. almost NO company has absolute pricing power to push cost through the end consumers especially in industries where end customers are very price sensitive (e.g. fast food)
  3. the interview / apply for UE is based on the honor system. you dont have to do shit but the state agencies have the right to audit that you were actively applying and looking for a job
  4. i believed this until very recently. my view is in the past 2-3 years has changed a lot for the city. the joke is that SA is closer to Austin than Houston is to itself. so even if SA struggles, i think proximity will drive positives for SA
  5. Why is it the same 4-6 same shitty posters that blast Republican talking points on all subs. UE isn’t stoping any material amount of people from not working. For every 1 person that says this, there is 10x that have too many applicants because wages were raised.
  6. I’m impressed with San Antonio. A big city but the talent density, cost of living, etc is strong. Lots of startups are being funded there too
  7. i have a hypothesis that Ds were betting the racism, sexism, etc would compel women and minorities to vote D. 2020 election showed that many people just ignored that and didn't drive behavior voters to pull the lever for D.
  8. This. I’m shocked at home much our rental homes are going.
  9. House a few blocks down sold for $635 sq/ft. I think we bought for ~$390 sq/ft in 2018.
  10. What is causing this color in austin

  12. Some decent spurts in central Austin
  13. Voted yesterday in north central (around airport and 183). line to vote was 45 mins and mix of ages. Im concerned that it will be close with prop B
  14. I wish I had this problem. The SO refuses to learn to drive so her Lyft bill is just out of control. she did not grow up in Texas but now living here still refuses to learn to drive....fml
  15. Probably rent a hotel suite or Airbnb for a month. Looking at condos that are 3 bedrooms size for 2 people. Definitely just living elsewhere as expats and work remotely. We are renting out our house while gone so will actually make money given the cost arbitrage. purely like the ideal of living in a new city / country but still need to work. Thankfully, we have jobs that allow this flexibility. we have some personal obligations to be in Asia (family) so want to be close to them by flight too.
