which is as good a time as ever to recommend "the kid stays in the picture" both the book and the documentary (which uses evans' own audiobook as narration).

plenty of crazy stories out there about evans, google is yourr friend.  the entourage episode with martin landau was based on him (they even used his actual house for the shoot).  the story of what went down trying to make "the cotton club" is a lot better than "the cotton club."

rip.

Had a good long run for such an apparently debauched dude.

Also pulled a ton of hot ass.  Oxenberg at 68.  Props.

yep.  ali macgraw left her fiance' for evans, then left evans for steve mcqueen.

apparently the relationship had already started but macgraw went back to be with evans during the godfather premiere.  in one of my favorite 1970's showbiz books "easy riders, raging bulls" he says, "she was looking at me, but she was thinking about steve mcqueen's cock."

I walked into Robert Evans' office once. It was right after I listened to the "Kid" audiobook, so I had to do it. I pretended I was lost and his assistant gave me directions. He probably hadn't actually been there in years, but kept an office on the Paramount lot.

RIP Bob. You're a legend.

That is one of my "go to" movies. The fact Evans does the narration makes it that much more awesome.

I've always thought Nathan was South Park's version of Evans.

I went to a party at his house about a year after the movie came out IIRC.   It was kind of drizzling that night, and as I walked in, Jack Nicholson was walking out to smoke a cigarette.  He looked up, squinted, and said, "Fucking rain," turned and went back inside.

Dick Van Patten was the host.  Really odd to see the dad from Eight is Enough say wonderful things about a guy seemingly on the opposite end of the debauchery spectrum.

Evans looked pretty rough back then, surprised he made it this far.  RIP,  interesting dude, produced some classics.
