RIP Austin / LA Piano Legend Gene Taylor

Recommended Posts

Not sure where to put this; crosses over into DT and even CR.

Gene was an amazingly great keyboardist originally from LA, where he was a member of the Blasters back in their heyday...I believe he moved to Europe for a few years and then settled in Austin where he played with the Fab T-Birds for many years. He might well have been the greatest living blues / boogie-woogie pianist on the planet.

And he froze to death in his Austin home during this storm.

Per Alejandro Escovedo, he lost power for five days and died there at home.

This pic reminds me that I need to ask Steve (owner of CC) again about buying the red sparkles. Very few people played that set more than my dad and I’ve wanted to add them to my stable for a while.
