[Surly Official Firing Squad] Get David Pierce The Fuck Outta Here
I don’t find football and baseball even remotely similar so I don’t think that matters. But also, Tom didn’t make three BCS games in 6 years. I’ve seen the names that you and others have posted. Some seem like they would work, some seem absolutely moronic. None have the accomplishments DP has. Doesn’t mean they couldn’t do better here though. It’s strange to act like 8 years with no title is some crazy amount of time. This ain’t exactly the first time we’ve had an 8 year gap in titles. And it’s not 1975 anymore. The overall talent is much more diverse across schools than ever before. DP needs to win a title and I personally wouldn’t really care if we fire him. It’s just beyond tired seeing this same shit everytime we lose a game with no real reasons other than “hasn’t won a title”. You say we’ve plateaued? According to who? By what metric? Your feelings? -

NIL Recruiting News Megathread
Many schools are already 8 figures deep in allocating general funds to their athletic departments (you can a lot of data here: https://knightnewhousedata.org/) Its funny that you mention UH, as before this ruling they are already into general funds and student fees for $48 f'n million dollars. There is a limit to how much they can tap as overall university costs/funding are a struggle. I disagree that Universities have been looking for a way to shift money into the AD....they've been doing it for years out of necessity. I'll spoiler the data to not longcat the thread, but its surprising how much some schools already have to do this. You can have an opinion, but ultimately its not the individual schools that will make that decision. If it was up to athletic departments, there wouldn't be a Title IX in the first place. https://www.kxnet.com/sports/ap-with-college-athletes-on-cusp-of-revenue-sharing-there-are-title-ix-questions-that-must-be-answered/#:~:text=Michael LeRoy%2C a University of,with directing payments to athletes. -

Caitlin Clark …. Seriously
I just think it’s cool that women are finally getting the spotlight put on them in hoops. NBA players seem to be incredibly supportive and enjoy the women’s game. I attribute that to the culture that exists among basketball players. It’s the “game recognizes game” axiom at play. I hope that a generation from now the women have a fully self-sufficient league and that they will make really, really good money playing the game. Clark might finally be the tipping point that people look back on as when the WNBA came of age. -

The Supremes
I think maintaining control over the Senate and getting Biden re-elected should give them the green light to expand and balance the court. It would be hard to rescind, and once expanded, it's unlikely the MAGA morons could justify another expansion in the near future. It's really one of the only ways to get all this back on track. And since this SC revisited Roe V Wade, it's only fair that a freshly balanced court revisits Citizens United.
