  1. Was curious about this, so I had to look up our highest preseason rankings from the DKR days. 1964 - coming off national title, we were ranked #4 behind Mississippi, blOU and Dick Butkus' Illinois. All three of them lost early and underwhelmed that year. We were definitely under-ranked and probably should have been preseason #1. 1970 - coming off national title #2, we were ranked #2 behind Ohio State (who won in '68 and nearly again in '69 before Michigan stunned them at the end of the season). Both Texas and tOSU had undefeated regular seasons, we jumped ahead of Ohio State to #1 in the middle of the year for some reason. 1971 - coming off national title #3, we were ranked #3 behind Notre Dame and Nebraska. Can't complain given that Nebraska went full juggernaut that season.

  3. Mohammed Siraj just bowled the spell of a lifetime to win India the fifth Test match and draw the series against England.
  4. Devastating loss. Offensive tackle was already one of our weakest position groups in terms of depth. Lack of elite options at RB and the current state of the O-line just makes Manning's job harder.

  14. RB room is now looking like a real weak spot. Wisner is a known quantity - great vision and patience, but slow and undersized. He only made hay when our O-line dominated the opposing D-line, and we've lost a lot of experience there. Gibson needs to stop fumbling and develop some vision. And everyone else is unproven and inexperienced. Blue couldn't stop fumbling but he was also the only RB who could do anything when our O-line was getting dominated (see Georgia and Ohio State). He scored 14 of the RB room's combined 24 TDs and led all our backs in YPC. And now we have no one who can replace him. We needed a back with top-end speed who can be a threat running routes out of the backfield.
  15. I have a similar suspicion with kicking. We brought in Shipley hoping he'd resurrect our kicking game, but so far all we've heard is that he's in a "battle" with our fucking kickoff specialist Will Stone for the job. I suspect FG kicking will be substandard and unreliable again this season.
  16. 2003 was a wild offseason. Washington fired Rick Neuheisel for betting on college games, Iowa State's bball coach was fired for getting publicly wasted at frat parties and hitting on co-eds, and then the Price scandal came along and blew everything previous out of the water.
  17. 2002 season. blOU was #1 for a while, then got upset by A&M and Okie Lite to hand us a chance to win the Big 12 South. Of course, we bungled said chance after Kliff Kingsbury tore Bull Reese and our beleaguered defense apart in Lubbock. A&M fans were frothing at the mouth about how great Reggie McNeal was after the A&M game, only for blOU to get revenge next year to the tune of 77-0.
