  1. No little about wbb, but OU seems to very aggressive, No ?
  2. Nice story on Aaliyah Moore that will get you "pumped" before the game. (excerpts) So when Moore was asked last week whether she thought the state of Oklahoma would even allow its prodigal daughter to cross back over the Red River for this game, she just laughed. But Longhorns head coach Vic Schaefer interrupted with an assurance. "They're gonna let her in the state, that ain't going to be an issue." Schaefer said. "They can boo and hiss all they want." "I wanted to win," Moore said. "When I found out it was going to be coach Schaefer that was coming here, I was like, 'Oh yeah, he knows how to win.' I mean, that's perfect." Oklahoma is allowing 74.8 points per game, but that conference-worst mark hasn't slowed the Sooners. DePaul is the only team in the country that's scoring more than Oklahoma, which averages 87 points. "Offensively, they're just a machine," Schaefer said. "(Baranczyk) does a great job and they're really talented. Obviously, there's some kids there that can really play and they're really fitting into her system." https://www.hookem.com/story/sports/womens-basketball/2022/01/29/texas-basketball-freshman-aaliyah-moore-ready-oklahoma-homecoming/6615343001/
  3. Single game and miniplan tickets now on sale. LSU (Mar 18, 19 (DH) and OU (14-16 Apr, Thurs-Sat, Easter) worth the price of admission.
  4. 🙂 Interesting on Wells. Smithson Valley is a suburb of San Antonio. SV has an excellent high school program. JD Reininger alum. Alot of their former players have gone to Baylor or aggy. Wells just entered his freshman year at SV.
  5. Saw this in today's AAS. Cooper and Caleb on the way. Heard from John Danks that son Jordan, the former Texas outfielder who played 184 games with the White Sox, is a realtor, a baseball coach and a cadet in the Pflugerville Fire Department, a lifelong goal of his. Jordan lives near Taylor with wife Ashley and sons Cooper, 8, and Caleb, 6, along with horses, donkeys and chickens https://www.statesman.com/story/sports/2022/01/26/cowboys-should-pull-off-big-trade-lure-sean-payton-dallas/9215770002/

    Phatterson

Former OUsux player Tillman may be referring to this. He and Brando should be banned by Fox from doing our games. TCU coach Gary Patterson apologized Tuesday for repeating a racial slur when instructing a player to stop using the word in team meetings, which led to a group of players to skip practice Monday. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/29594841/tcu-coach-gary-patterson-apologizes-repeating-racial-slur
  7. Check me, I count 42. So with the Covid waiver (40 man/32 scholarships) only have to cut 2. Problem may be next year if the NCAA returns to the 35 with 27 scholarships and with the incoming recruiting class. Not sure if below commit roster (14) is current. It does not include Silas' brother Sam who has committed. Will also be interesting to see how the transfer portal affects college baseball. https://www.perfectgame.org/College/CollegeCommitments.aspx?college=1829

    RIP Meat Loaf

RIP, Great One ! Below vid filmed in Denton. Such great lyrics to all his songs. "And if life is just a highway, then the soul is just a car"
  9. True. Junior this year - draft year. Looking at Ark schedule, parallels aggy - all non-conf home games against patsies except the Round Rock Classic. Gives them time to audition a replacement. Thanks for the info @Don Johnson https://arkansasrazorbacks.com/sport/m-basebl/schedule/
  10. RIP Ron ! Thanks for the great memories. Excerpts from AAS story. ESPN taking the low road. As all know, normally ESPN makes mention of a former colleague's passing and has a photo and moment of silence. Some so obscure no one knows them Perhaps they will tonight on the SVP show which is very late due to the NBA game. Franklin died Tuesday in Austin due to what doctors termed COVID-19 related pneumonia, his wife Bonnie told the American-Statesman on Wednesday. He was 79. “He was maybe the best radio football guy I’ve ever heard,” said Tom Dorr, who was an analyst alongside Franklin for one season in the 1980s. “But he really knew the game of football exceptionally well and he was able to tell that story. “I thought he was able to paint that picture, tell that story so well on radio and give you a real sense of what was going on,” Dorr added. “Man, he loved Texas. Absolutely to the top of his lungs, Ron loved UT and UT sports.” “Ron Franklin was a longtime partner of mine at ESPN, and we ended our time there as good friends and colleagues,” Rowe said Wednesday. “He was a unique talent and made college football better for viewers.” Said Bonnie Franklin: “He really respected her. He used to say Holly really does her homework.” But Franklin was fired just before the Fiesta Bowl in January 2011 for allegedly calling sideline reporter Jeannine Edwards a “sweet baby” and using an expletive. Franklin later sued the network for wrongful termination in Travis County. His lawyer said Franklin’s comments were the result of Edwards cutting into a private conversation. Franklin issued a statement on Jan. 3, 2011. “I said some things I shouldn't have and am sorry. I deserved to be taken off the Fiesta Bowl.” Franklin and the network agreed to an out-of-court settlement. Reached on Wednesday, an ESPN spokesman said the network had no comment about Franklin’s passing “So sorry to hear of the death of Ron Franklin,” Edwards tweeted Wednesday. “He had some quirks, but loved sports, talking sports, living sports. He was a pro.... prepared meticulously and was great at what he did. RIP Ron.” https://www.hookem.com/story/sports/football/2022/01/19/ron-franklin-obituary-texas-longhorns-radio-sports-announcer-dies-covid/6584061001/
  11. https://texaslonghorns.evenue.net/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/SEGetEventList?groupCode=BBST&linkID=tex-ath&shopperContext=&caller=&appCode= For those interested/need, GA Season Tickets are available for $99. Limited regular priced season tickets also available especially in the upper reserved sections. For the aggy game on 29 March, one would likely pay close or above $99 for GA. (from a scalper or StubHub). Call UT Tickets, 512-471-3333, M-F, 9-4. They should also have info on availability of single game tickets.
  12. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/adblock-plus-for-safari-abp/id1028871868 Agree with 34. I get very few adds.
  13. Thanks for starting this year's thread ! The season opening Ft Meyers tournament seems to be a tribute to Coach Singleton. He was the hitting coach for the Twins minor league team and assistant softball coach at Fla SW St, both located in Ft Meyers. And certainly helps with recruiting. Per schedule, we return to play McNeese on Wed and then back to Florida for the St Pete/Clearwater Elite. Seems like they would just stay in Florida and play a midweek against a Florida school. Pretty sure tutors travel with the team. https://texassports.com/sports/softball/schedule
  14. Safari compromised. A bug in WebKit's implementation of a JavaScript API called IndexedDB can reveal your recent browsing history and even your identity, according to a blog post shared on Friday by browser fingerprinting service FingerprintJS. https://www.macrumors.com/2022/01/16/safari-15-webkit-indexeddb-bug/
  15. aggy has a very similar schedule from last year. Frisco Classic is only away series before conference play , home patsies against Fordham, Lamar, Penn, HBU, Tarleton, Santa Clara, UH (good team). Schlossnagle probably inherited the schedule. Suppose thinking is conference play is all you need for RPI. They have 15 transfers, notably Micah Dallas, RHP from Tech, who beat us last year in game 2. @slorch, any info on why Dallas transferred ? (Jr this year) (don't want to bore with aggy info, but I am concerned with their coaching staff. On paper, a good one) "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer" https://12thman.com/sports/baseball/roster
  16. I checked the stats, looking for attendance (could'nt find) Really, poor, don't you all think ? Weekday game understood, but no home court advantage for sure. No marketing hype with giveaways, etc.
  17. College baseball for the Metroplex. State Farm Showdown, Globe Life Field, Feb 18-20 Tech, KSt, OU, Arizona, Auburn, Michigan Frisco Classic, Mar 4-6, aggy, Iowa, Wich St, Wash St https://www.arlingtontx.gov/news/my_arlington_t_x/news_stories/2022_state_farm_college_baseball_showdown https://www.friscoclassic.com/
  18. Thoughts and prayers for you and your Family, Bob.
  19. Eric Morris, his head coach at UIW, was recently named OC at Wazzu. Per Ward's bio, he is related to Quentin and Quandre. Hope he does well. 2020 (Freshman): (Spring 2021) 2021 Jerry Rice award winner… Set multiple UIW single-game and single-season passing records in just six games...finished the season with 2,260 yards passing and 24 touchdowns...threw for a career-high 470 yards and six touchdowns at Nicholls on March 27....also rushed for two touchdowns...named to the Southland All-Conference first-team.High School: A dual threat QB who played at Columbia High School in Columbia, Texas, under Brent Mascheck… as both a junior and a senior, threw for more than 1,000 yards at QB… in 2018, completed 72 of 124 pass attempts for 1,070 yards and seven touchdowns… also rushed for four TDs… helped team become 2019 co-district champions… earned first team all-district as a QB, honorable mention all-state football and All-Southern Brazoia County first team QB… also named two-time all-district offensive MVP in basketball… was selected honorable mention all-state academically. Personal: Parents are Calvin and Patrice Ward… has three older siblings… one ran track and field at Houston Baptist… also has two relatives in the NFL (Quandre Diggs plays for the Seattle Seahawks and Quintin Jammer plays for the San Diego Chargers)… started playing football at eight years old… chose UIW because it’s where he felt God wanted him to be… major is undecided. https://uiwcardinals.com/sports/football/roster/cameron-ward/9952
  20. Also, Augie and Mark Marquess, Stanford coach, were very close friends. Series started in '98 and was beneficial for both teams in recruiting and RPI. iirc, Augie's daughter lived in Arizona but like petscii, a shorter trip to Palo Alto. Two of the best:
  21. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-01-09/fed-unites-left-and-right-in-warning-it-s-behind-inflation-curve Above is an article from the meeting of the American Economic Association with comments from prominent academics and politicos. Economics is not my field. Who do you gurus think has the best analysis, if anyone ? (excerpts) Nobel Prize laureate Joseph Stiglitz, who was chief White House economist for Democratic President Bill Clinton, called for caution by the central bank. He argued that higher interest rates wouldn’t solve the supply snafus and global shortages that have helped push up inflation. In addition, labor-force participation remains well short of what it could be. Summers, a Harvard University professor and paid contributor to Bloomberg, also foresees Treasury yields rising further. “As the reality of the need for balancing supply and demand becomes clear, interest rates will rise substantially over the next year and a half,” he said. Summers got into a spirited back-and-forth with Stiglitz at the conference, arguing that the Columbia University professor was placing too much emphasis on supply-chain kinks for the run-up in prices.
  22. Agree, we could have played them Monday and saved them a trip to SA. Wonder if they asked, likely ? The animosity between Pierce and Esquer must run deep. Was it the wet field or other conditions ? Tough to see that long tradition be cancelled.
  23. On a dreary Saturday afternoon searching for baseball news... Round Rock Classic, Dell Diamond, Feb 25-27, Stanford, Arkansas, ULL, Indiana. Seems unusual to have no Texas teams, plus we host Alabama that weekend so attendance may suffer. Stanford will play UTSA in San Antonio on Monday, Feb 28 for anyone in that area. Tommy Nicholson left Stanford after being selected to be the head coach at UC Davis in December. He hired the pitching coach for the Santa Barbara Foresters (elite college Summer team) and the hitting coach from Sacramento St, also a good recruiter. UC Davis was the univ that suspended the baseball team amid a hazing scandal resulting in the resignation of the coaching staff (link below). Not the ideal place to begin a head coaching career. They have lacked support, facilities, and iirc, their field does not have lights. In the Big West with Fullerton, Irvine, Hawaii, Long Beach and that bunch so a challenging league. Good luck, Tommy ! Lifetime Longhorn, do us proud ! Four months after suspending its baseball program, UC Davis announced Friday that the team’s head coach was resigning after an investigation revealed young players had for years been subjected to hazing rituals that included binge drinking, strippers and “threats about sodomy.” https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaabk/uc-davis-suspends-entire-baseball-program-over-misconduct/ar-AAMaw52?ocid=msedgntp
  24. And the effect of the labor situation leading to less efficient employees. (no c/r) May want to send a survey. Whataburger seems like a "tight" run organization which is concerned with quality product and service.
