  1. Do you have a link for that podcast or site ?
  2. Don’t know why Pierce would permit him to start early Summer ball. If Ivan goes down he is best available for 1B. Also a LH pinch hitter with power.
  3. Strange ? He is on their roster. We send players there every year after the season. Not trying to start a rumor, but he may be in the portal or going there. The aggy players you see on the roster are in the portal. I have been reading texags. Also, we have 1 other player at SB, Grossman. Was he one that declared for the portal earlier ? You could tell duriing the season Gash was not happy with his PT. Kid can play. He is playing with very good competition at SB. http://calsummerball.com/santa-barbara-foresters-roster/
  4. Former long time assistant to Steve Smith at Baylor. Great reputation, should have many contacts to navigate the portal.
  5. Latest draft report per Bohls, fwiw. Second link is Jim Callis' (reputable writer) first round draft projection. Tech's Jace Jung at #10. 6. Prospects galore. Saw a list of the projected top 200 players for the Major League Baseball draft, a 20-round affair from July 17-19. And I’m still shocked scouts aren’t drooling more over Ivan Melendez than they are. Many still see the Texas slugger as a one-tool guy even though he has played very well at first base. MLB.com listed him as only the 115th best prospect in this draft. The report said he does have “plus-plus raw power” (duh) but “doesn’t have standout bat speed,” leading to concerns he could struggle against top-velocity pitchers. “Melendez still doesn’t offer much value beyond his bat, and a righty-hitting first baseman is the least attractive profile for pro teams.” Whatever. … Other draftables include Hansen (No. 125), a left-handed pitcher with killer slider and precision; Faltine (No. 149), a shortstop with concerns he’s overly aggressive at the plate and too pull-happy; Ardoin (No. 150), considered the best catcher in college baseball and who improved hitting numbers; and Hodo (No. 200), a speedy center fielder with some pop. All the Texas high school stars named are going to other schools save for Brandeis shortstop Jalin Flores (No. 91), who could easily sign a pro contract or would be draft-eligible as a college sophomore if he comes to campus. https://www.statesman.com/story/sports/college/2022/06/15/texas-king-college-sports-doesnt-mind-seeing-those-horns-down/7627208001/ https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-mock-draft-2022-historic-focus-on-offense
  6. Congrats to Skip and Texas-Ex asst Clay Van Hook. Augie is proud ! There was no dogpile.
  7. Schlossnagle is a master at assembling a staff, e.g., TCU. Yeskie is recognized as a premier pitching coach in the NCAA. At Oregon St during their run. Note his mound visits, calculated, not unecessarily, the command he draws. If he was here with the talent we have, oh my... Cain was LSU's recruiting coordinator for about 7-8 years, recognized as one of the best. Has contacts throughout the SEC and Nation and reportedly a versatile on field coach. Great help to Schloss in navigating the SEC. Earley is recognized as a young (5 years coaching, played in White Sox orgn), respected hitting coach. Did well at Ariz St. West Coast recruiting ties, may be responsible for their recent USC transfer. Schloss got a recommendation from someone. aggy stats aren't great but what matters is the job they did the first year with transfers (won the SEC West and going to Omaha) says all a person needs to know about coaching. Experienced coaches who have coached at the highest level. People who have more knowledge echo the above including Kendall Rogers and Aaron Fitt. I dislike aggy as much as anyone, but they have a good staff.
  8. They have an outstanding coaching staff. Check the bios.
  9. NEVER FORGET
  10. Pierce has been there with Tulane and Rice, maybe as asst at Houston.
  11. First few seconds of below clip. Has a somewhat odd arm angle, hides the ball well, probably throws alot of soft stuff. ECU may not want him going thru the lineup more than twice. The 66K - 15 walk ratio is very good but no comparison to Pete at 112 - 18 (amazing).
  12. It was known she would never go to another school. "Just happened" comes from alot of hard work from an early age. Blair's youth private pitching coach (Andy, can't recall his last name) was Connie's asst coach when the program began with club ball in 1996. In fairness to Kim, Connie rode Blaire for 4 years for what seemed to be the development detriment of others. But Kim was also an outstanding fielder and hitter, one of my all time favs. Check the rise ball and movement, pitching on the black, just like Cat. Hope we get that tonight. But enough of history, 4 hrs to game time. I had trouble sleeping last night.

  14. Congrats on a great season ! Do you think Trout will be a Baylor candidate ? Sharp guy !
  15. Props to Mia Scott. Watched a replay this morning. During the 5th inning rally, she "baited" that throw to second from Busby the cutoff by staying off the bag. She had Busby's attention all the way as Busby never checked Whitaker's progress. Great softball IQ.
  16. Hoping for the next Gasso. Ross Bjork is a pretty savvy AD. He missed on a splash hire but likely did his homework.
  17. Congrats to everyone, including the great posts here ! Mike White is reminiscent of Augie. Disappointments during the regular season but come playoff time you don’t want to play his team. He lives for this - it’s his life !
  18. AAS article about incoming infielder Leighann Goode and SA O'Connor winning State yesterday. (excerpts) In the victory, Goode went 2-for-4 with an RBI single. She also scored a run and stole two bases. A shortstop and leadoff hitter, Goode hit .500 over her two games at this weekend's state tournament. Goode earned a spot on the Class 6A all-tournament team. When Goode signed with Texas this past November, she was rated by Softball America as the No. 40 recruit in her class. Extra Inning Softball evaluated Goode as a top-20 prospect and top-three infielder. "A Texas native, Leighann is a talented, five-tool athlete who can play infield or outfield with equal ability," Texas coach Mike White said. "We see Leighann contributing to our team immediately and over the years to come." Goode joins Citlaly Gutierrez as the 2022 Texas recruits who have won a state title at McCombs Field. Last year, Gutierrez led Stamford to the Class 2A title. Katie Cimusz (Humble Atascocita) and Sophia Simpson (Barbers Hill) are the current Longhorns who won state championships while attending Texas high schools. https://www.statesman.com/story/sports/2022/06/05/texas-softball-signee-leighann-goode-wins-state-title-mccombs-field/7523574001/
  19. Evidentlly. I do remember that being discussed during her transfer.
  20. And that is what we need to do - recruit Calif which has overall superior talent. Gasso is from Calif, many connections. We never stood a chance with Coleman vs OU. She is from The Colony, Mom is a high school coach and Dad is a travel ball coach. (they were, not sure if active) All those kids from North Dallas have been OU brainwashed. Even aggy and Baylor have written off North Dallas to concentrate on Houston with us. Tech gets a couple of leftovers. But hopefully this CWS appearance will be the beginning. Edit: Let's hope OKSt can win this WCWS if we don't.

  23. Re: Trautwein Just noticed she started game 1 at the WCWS. 4.2 with 88 pitches but a day of rest. They may stick with her due to experience vs the soph May.
  24. OU went with Trautwein vs aggy in the 1-0 game in the Regional and the first game of the SR vs UCF. Agree, great improvement. Leighann Goode, Texas signee shortstop is in town this weekend with San Antonio O'Connor for the State Tournament. Read she played travel ball with Scott and Simpson. Finals may be televised if a listing can be found.
  25. Does the NCAA still drug test during championship tournaments ? Of course, if prescribed adderall is legal. Exactly ! Hunter Yurachek is a good AD. The fan attendance was indicative of their support. He doesn't want to let that go. Also, Deifel and her husband have young children. Family has to be considered. But admittedly, with say a 500K plus salary and aggy facilities/recruiting base she may have to pause to give thought.
