  1. As stated above, Kennedy has graduated (Corporate Communications) has been an outstanding student and has a bright future. LHF had him endorse a fund raising effort for the academic side. Unless he pursues a grad degree, will be surprised if he returns. Definitely will miss his desire, tenacity, and play.
  2. https://www.tenforums.com/general-support/195715-few-questions-about-win-11-a.html https://www.pcworld.com/article/811274/windows-12-2024-microsoft-windows-11-features.html Many reviews on the 'net, one above. Limited reviews I have seen indicate no major upgrades in Win 11. Per reports, Win 10 may be retired in 2025. Second link gives a forecast for the future. Win 12 may be released in 2024. "Situation is fluid" 🙂 I am on Win10 and thinking about buying a Mac.
  3. Searching for info on Southard and saw the below article. Sounds like Pierce has connected with him and perhaps Pierce and Williams have convinced him to return. Just a guess that scouts may be aware. Southard was selected by the Angels in the 20th rd of the '19 draft (40 rds). He will be 22 in October. Seems he has much more "upside" than some of the pitchers taken in the last 5 rounds. Will see what happens tomorrow. (excerpt) But Pierce was talking more about how Southard has been off the field with the mental game. That’s where he’s seen the greatest progress. “It’s been a long process for him,” Pierce said. “I still don’t know if he’s there yet as far as the consistency. There are some complexities within his delivery that sometimes concern me to really be on time with it. But he works at it so hard. I think, too, you look back and he had some struggles, some mental struggles. He talked to his teammates about himself a lot. About his delivery, about his stuff. We just had a conversation, I said, ‘Let’s try this, let’s quit worrying about yourself. Let’s start focusing on your teammates and what can you do for your teammates, if it’s one guy one day?'” After that conversation, Pierce said Southard started helping his teammates before games every day. He makes sure batting practice is ready to go, and he does it alone. “The kid started setting up batting practice every single day by himself, probably over a year now,” Pierce said. “He has completely become the ultimate teammate, and there’s not one player on that team that doesn’t pull for him because of all the things that he does for them now. I just see a maturity and being very selfless and being very concerned about his team.” https://www.on3.com/college/texas-longhorns/news/texas-baseball-david-pierce-change-jared-southard-this-season-mens-college-world-series-cws/
  4. Note that Monsour gives a "shout out" to Caleb Longley. Volunteer asst's can't recruit, so perhaps Monsour met him on a visit or personal connection since Longley is from Tenn and knows the Southeast or met him at one of Longley's training symposiums.
  5. https://www.perfectgame.org/college/CollegeCommitments.aspx?college=1745 "May" have been mutual agreement. Don't know how many signed, but Tech had 4 SS's and 2 3B's committed. Not to mention the portal.
  6. “It’s disturbing that this case is being tried on social media without any regard for the facts,” Morris’ attorney Justin Moore told the American-Statesman. “We look forward to dispelling all rumors and defending any allegation against Arterio in a court of law. “The right to due process is an important function in American society,” he added, “and we applaud the University of Texas for not rushing to judgement before Arterio has had the ability to fully defend himself.” https://www.statesman.com/story/sports/college/longhorns/mens-basketball/2022/07/15/texas-basketballs-arterio-morris-arrested-in-june-on-assault-charge/65372799007/ Moore is a SMU Law grad, only 9 years experience. Refresh my memory, have DWI's, fights, etc., previously resulted in a temporary suspension pending investigation ?
  7. "as the person my parents taught me to be" "saw my parents at every single game" Props to Jordyn's parents for raising an outstanding daughter.
  8. As indicated by 2147 and hobbes, it indicates he needs coaching. USC ranked 8th in the P12 in pitching only ahead of Utah, Wash, Wash St. Pitching coach was Ted Silva, former Fullerton pitcher, MLB (minors) pitcher, and Darrin Erstad's long time pitching coach at Nebraska. At USC Hurley had a 45-32 and 19-14 K/BB ratio the last 2 years worse than our starters. I'm guessing the H/9 ratio was to avoid walks and tend to throw( @zlavydra's favorite term) meatballs or cookie. 🙂 Taller pitchers tend to have more command, injury, and mechanical issues which will be addressed by Williams. From a purely mechanical look at pitching, the taller pitcher not only has the potential to have worse command problems due to the length of the forearm (not to mention the humerus), but also has a higher multiplier for torque and therefore stress on the structures of the human body. https://www.drivelinebaseball.com/2016/06/pitcher-height-comparison-velocity-elbow-injuries-mechanics/#:~:text=From a purely mechanical look at pitching%2C the taller pitcher, structures of the human body.
  9. http://usabaseball.sidearmsports.com/sidearmstats/collegiate_national_team/media;category=batting 2-0 win over Cuba today. Nice win ! Skenes has yet to pitch or play. Ahuna is playing 2B, Gonzalez (0le Miss) SS. Would have been nice to have Ahuna at Texas. Games end with Netherlands on Tues, Curacao on Wed.
  10. Excellent point ! Forgot all about the CWS. Per schedule, his first action was 30 June.
  11. http://pointstreak.com/baseball/team_stats.html?teamid=3427&seasonid=33239 (stats not always current) Daly is playing SS/3B for Chatham at Cape Cod. Only played 7 of 28 games and hitting .200. Extreme competition, but may have benefited more in going to Santa Barbara or another team in the Calif Collegiate League for more PT at SS. tl,dr: Begin forming a 7 figure NIL deal for Faltine. 🙂 Edit: May have an injury. However, often times they send you home if you will miss signficant number of games.
  12. https://mutigers.com/news/2022/6/28/softball-cottrill-named-assistant-coach.aspx Julia Cottrill's Dad just took an assistant job at Mizzou. Was at OkSt for 7 years. Seems unusual to make a lateral move unless significant $$$ Or KennyG may be having team/coach chemistry issues.
  13. Is this a permanent move until such time as you receive another transfer ? If so.. Best to follow advice by phdhorn. With the current US mail system issues (delays, takes more time), best not to depend on the forwarding of mail. Check with the DMV in California but there likely is a requirement to change your vehicle registration and driver's license within a certain period. Perhaps @Gil Bang and @Sbbruin can advise.
  14. Apparently a 7 inning game, they went extras (see 1st link) No idea why, Olympic games are 9. 2nd link is USA Twitter to follow games if interested. https://www.usabaseball.com/news/topic/collegiate/cnt-falls-to-japan-in-extras-1-0-in-honkbalweek-opener https://twitter.com/usabaseballcnt
  15. Japan scored in bottom of 8th to defeat Team USA 1-0. Must have been a great game, too bad ESPN does not stream. Above stream is a paid subscription from the Netherlands.
  16. https://www.usabaseball.com/team-usa/collegiate-national-team/schedule Team USA Collegiate National Team begins play Saturday. Games are scheduled to be streamed. Early games may be archived for later viewing.
  17. https://archive.ph/UQJBl Not the OP, but also interested. Also, note below article. George Kent has written extensively on the issue of global hunger, therefore it is unlikely that he will write something positive about the issue, and hence it can be said that the article is satirical. https://www.opindia.com/2022/07/article-describing-benefits-of-world-hunger-published-by-the-un-goes-viral/
  18. @someguy any thoughts about Matharu ?
  19. HR #3, 2-3 today, 2 rbi's, SB, played 3B. Tigers are at Globe Life, 26-28 Aug (weekend).

  21. What Fletch said. Coaches select players and coordinate with the league. Seems the ones selected will be important for the following year. It is a great experience. Especially the Cape Cod League. Showcase for scouts and with excellent coaching. Elder was highly complimentary of his pitching coach at Santa Barbara. Communities sponsor the teams with activities and most important, food. I checked last week and only could find the following players. Normally we have more but reduced due to attrition this year. Cape Cod - Daly, L. Johnson (Chatham) Sthele (Wareham) Santa Barbara - Harrison, Campbell Grossman also at Santa Barbara - did he portal ? Northwoods League (Midwest, Upper Midwest) - did not have time to check, too many teams If interested just google. However, rosters and stats are often not current.
  22. As the Director of Operations, Drew served as a liaison with the recruits insuring they were welcomed, logistics provided, met with their parents, etc and was well liked by current and former players. His departure completed the purge of former staff members seemingly a Pierce goal. Everyone was replaced including Vinny, the equipment manager. Don't know, all most likely at Pierce's behest. Departure did not really affect recruiting because to a large extent, Texas Baseball recruits itself. Drew is at Five Tool Baseball in Keller. Five Tool is a Nation wide organizatiion that sponsors tournaments and showcases for players to showcase their talent in hopes of playing at the next level. As much as he loved Texas Baseball, not sure he would have voluntarily taken that job. That said, he is from the Metroplex and there may have been family obligations.
  23. https://img.mlbstatic.com/opprops-images/image/upload/opprops/jgmwxl0ipbabwwpaccxn.pdf For those interested in Skenes, 3.2, O Runs, 4H, 0 BB, 4K's in Team USA intrasquad game. Keep in mind the level of competition - all stars.
  24. https://www.usabaseball.com/team-usa/collegiate-national-team/schedule If you need a college baseball "fix", above is schedule for USA Collegiate National Team. First 2 games were streamed on MLB.com, perhaps others will be. Skenes is listed as a P/IF but has not yet played.
  25. Cursory search indicates she played CF. Member of Texas St Athletic Hall of Honor. Left aggy Corpus after only 2 years (one a Covid year, resigned for other opportunities). Had them moving forward after bringing 7 players from Temple. "For Kristen, not many programs can get a head coach to come be your volunteer unless she's someone that is committed to being the best she can be," said Gasso. "She has the championship mindset; she's been at our camps and she perfectly fits our program. She is going to add a tremendous amount of knowledge to our staff and has an elite softball mind. We're really excited about her joining us." https://soonersports.com/staff-directory/kristen-zaleski/230
