I think he relied on whatever was said in his ear about the arm moving forward. Disappointing because he had access to the video and is supposed to watch the video with his own eyes. The red card is not the problem for me. The problem for me is that we got a decision overturned based on the VIDEO assistant referee process, which has a "clear and obvious error" standard, with just a single image and no actual video being used.

Doesn't the letter of the law basically mandate looking at more than a freeze frame before awarding a straight red if the hand is that close to the body? Not sure how you can conclude deliberate intent without seeing if/when/how the arm moved. Could the ref have ended up deciding it was deliberate and therefore a straight red despite the ball deflecting off the leg first? Sure. But you gotta do work. Pretty sure the VAR rules say you look at slow motion replays (which include more than a single video frame) to determine the point of contact.
  3. All that hard work yesterday and then collapsed in hilarious and embarrassing fashion.

That dude would fit well around here.
  5. I may be biased but I am starting to wonder if our best lineup puts Mount in midfield and has two energizer bunnies in Pulisic and _______ up front next to Big Rom to receive balls to feet from Rom and constantly run at defenders.
  6. Hard to drop Jadeja when he is like the third leading scorer with the bat at the start of the day. These are good problems to have though.
  7. Let's wrap up this tail asap.
  8. Good start to the season, let's keep the clean sheet.
  9. From this position you gotta put the hammer down. Bat just once and let the strengthened bowling group get twenty wickets.
  10. This whole season has been a long new guy hazing ritual. My first four draft picks all have been disappointments or outright failures: Yelich, Bellinger, Rendon, Kershaw. It is a freaking miracle I might still end up .500 for the year.
  11. I have found Gardein to hands down be the best line of fake meats.
  12. Lukaku is apparently done. I would have preferred Haaland for 150m over Lukaku for 115m. And if the reason we didn't get Haaland is really our refusal to go from 130m to 150m, that could end up an all time mistake. But, Lukaku it is, so let's go Big Rom aka Baby Drogba.
  13. The birth of my two children are probably the greatest moment of my life. So hey, I get it. But I think I have had 5 players go on the paternity list this year and miss games. What happened to players and their wives planning ahead so this kind of stuff happened in the off season? I'm fighting for my fantasy playoff life right now, damn it!
  14. Worthless Indian middle order once again.
  15. This might be@THUJONE 's magnum opus
  16. I think it's fair to be asking questions about the circumstances, how long she had been feeling this way, did she screw the team by not admitting this yesterday, etc. But I also think it is fair to praise the decision to step away for mental health reasons in the face of all of the expectation and knowledge that you might face a lifetime of scrutiny. I don't think this is an either/or scenario. I don't her caught up on labels like "heroic." Here's what I know-- she went undefeated for something like 19 straight meets. She is the GOAT. She quit in the middle of her meet and put her team in a tough situation. All of those things are true and will define her legacy.
  17. Throughout her career Biles has represented the US, Texas, and hell the Houston area with excellence. She is the unquestionable GOAT. This would be a crappy way to end her career, but she doesn't owe me anything and I give Biles credit for realizing she wasn't in the right headspace. You can suffer life changing injuries in gymnastics if your head isn't right. It's the same reason football coaches don't want players to be timid on the field. It wasn't that long ago that an American gymnast became a quadriplegic and eventually died from injuries suffered in the vault. In Tokyo. I think at least one college gymnast has died from a fall as well. Biles and her coaches made the right call in that moment. I'm sure there will be questions about how long this has been brewing in her mind, whether she should have gone to Tokyo, etc. But she absolutely did the right thing in stepping aside so her inevitable low scores (more execution penalty due to not living up to high starting score) didn't hurt the team anymore than the mid air vault abort already had. There were three other world class gymnasts on the team that would be able to step up. And to their credit, those other girls stepped up in a huge way and fucking WON the silver. I hope their triumph isn't overshadowed tonight.
  18. Hope we included a sell-on clause.
  19. If a guy's game is postponed and nary a pitch was thrown, you should be able to replace him in the starting lineup after the postponement is announced with a guy whose game hasn't started.

Might be a bit of a derail, but our go to place was always Hao-Q, and I am heartbroken about it. Wife died last year after cancer battle and husband/daughter sold/closed earlier this year. As many here know, this was the same couple that ran Hoa Hoa in Dobie for so many years.
