  1. In Utero slams. Rape Me is peak Nirvana. All Apologies is the ultimate sign off. Album fucking rules.
  2. KSU has turned into a wagon the past 10 days. Getting Momcilovic back was everything for us.
  3. Same owners as Igor’s. We stopped there before having lunch across the street, and really enjoyed it. The bartender was great, and a regular came in with his dog and my wife goes nuts (in a positive way) when she sees a dog in a bar.
  4. I think Shannon Hoon would have done some incredible 70's inspired shit. He was well on his way. I fuckin' hate AI, but if it gave us Bon Scott on "Back in Black", I might forgive it.
  5. Was the homeless guy sitting in the middle of St Charles out front of Igor's talking to himself?
  6. Tech is turning into a wagon. That W in Lubbock is going to look great in March.
  7. Well of course. None of them are getting Big 10 or SEC invites, and the ACC is a lateral move at the absolute best, and more realistically a step back. If the Big 10 or SEC are going to add any more schools, those schools are coming from the current ACC (or Notre Dame obvs). I'm not even sure there's incentive for them to do that as they already have total control of the sport and any school will need to make their contracts more valuable. Now, if they cut out some of the dead weight schools and brought in FSU/Clemson/UNC/Miami they could probably do that. But I'm starting to think that just adding any of those ACC schools to the existing group won't make sense financially. If the ACC loses schools to the Big 10 and SEC, it seems obvious to me that the remaining schools would be much better off to merge with the Big 12 in a 3rd leftovers league that will have enough juice to demand some level of inclusion in the football post-season, as opposed to promoting current G5s and falling undeniably behind the current Big 12.
  8. Shit man, good call. I haven't watched that in years. I have it on DVD somewhere. Need to dust it off, but that movie absolutely blew me away in the theatres.
  9. Yeah, my mom did the same. My recollection is that they actually tasted the exact same, so on that front I guess it worked? I'd be curious how many fewer (if any) calories those things had. And yes, I fucking found out. I made it to the toilet, but I found out.
  10. Gentlemen, I present to you Peak Surly.
  11. Whenever I hear "Baked Lays" I think of that low calorie oil they started frying Lay's in back in the 90's that made everyone shit their pants.
  12. The Departed is a fucking incredibly entertaining film and I really couldn't care less about it's flaws. It's pretty easily in my Top 5. For me the hard part is Casino vs Scarface. I'd probably go with Casino, just because Nicky Santoro is more or less the same character as Tommy DeVito, and I can't think of any other character deaths I've enjoyed as much as those two. Plus, every douchebag I knew in college had a Tony Montana poster in their dorm room so I guess Scarface suffers the hit.
  13. Yup. Any serious person is just debating the final 2 spots.
  14. Or we're just really bad lately. Gotta get through some middling squads here until Momcilovic gets back. Our entire offense is just fucked without him available.
  15. I was born with dual citizenship in Canada. My mom and aunt are still citizens. I have a shit load of extended family there that I get together with annually. It’s not about how they feel about American politics. They are proud of their country, proud of their independence, and have absolutely 0 interest in bending the knee to anyone. Yeah, they maintain a symbolic relationship with the British monarchy, but it’s completely symbolic. Watch the crowd belt “Oh Canada” at the top of their lungs before an NHL game.
  16. Tell me you don't know a single fucking Canadian without telling me you don't know a single fucking Canadian.
  17. Yeah. I'm going to do this every time I go back. We had SRO in the back, but shit, you can still see every expression on the players' faces from there.
  18. We got in Wednesday afternoon and left first thing Saturday AM. Weather was phenomenal. We walked a ton. With my morning jogs, I was pushing 20 miles on foot in 2.5 days. We stayed right on St Charles and walked all over the Garden District and Uptown. Went to the Quarter on Wednesday and Friday. Explored the Bywater area a little bit on Friday as well. Thursday was exclusively in Garden District. Went to a random show at Tipitina's that night and had a blast with that. Eats: Parasol's - roast beef poboy pictured above. It was god damned delicious. Dat Dog - had to sober up on Frenchman Street somehow. Got that job done enough to get an Uber back to the hotel at midnight on Wednesday. Seawitch - Right on St Charles in the Garden District. My cousin and her husband live in Baton Rouge and have wanted to try it for awhile. Got a fuck ton of oysters (raw and 2 kinds of chargrilled) and soups (gumbo and french onion). Everything was stellar. Did lunch here on Sunday and wife and I came back Friday for happy hour ($1 oysters) which lead to the horseradish OD pictured above. The Channel - on Magazine. Just wanted a place to get poboys and debris fries on Thursday night. This fit the bill nicely. Did fried oyster, wife did fried shrimp. Not as life changing as Parasol, but really good. Ruby Slipper (Uptown on Magazine) - a damn fine brunch. Got some benedict with shrimp, fried green tomatoes, and a Cajun tomato sauce. Tots smothered in pork tasso. Spicy bloody mary on fucking point. Drinks: French Quarter - Erin Rose and Fahey's were both a lot of fun. Stopped at Jacque Lafite's during a haunted mansion tour and I didn't like it as much as I remember liking it in 2016. Garden District - We were staying next door to Igor's. A 24/7 bar can be a life saver when it's 9:30 in the morning, your wife is still getting ready for the day, and you've got your work out in. Avenue Pub got a lot of our time and money. It's one of my favorite bars on the planet, so no worries there. Urban South brewing was a super cool space with great beer (we drank Parkway Pils at a lot of other stops too), but like most large brewery spaces it doesn't foster as much random conversation as a cozy little taproom. Stopped at Lucky's while waiting for my cousin to get to town, and got great service with an interesting crowd. Bywater - went down to Parleaux Brew Lab on Friday afternoon. It was absolutely gorgeous out and we really liked their beer. Chatted with a couple around our age there who recommended we stop at Bachanal Wine & Spirits around the corner. It has a big outdoor garden, and you buy a bottle of wine, put together a meat and cheese plate, and just sit out back and enjoy. It was fucking awesome. These spots were definitely the hidden gems of the trip. Music: -Did the traditional Preservation Hall show on Wednesday night. It's fantastic, and seems like a "must do" when in New Orleans to me. -Hit Tipitina's on Thursday night. The band wasn't anyone we knew, but the music was in my wheelhouse enough to have a blast in a kickass historic venue like that. Phenomenal people watching here. We packed a lot into 3 nights and 2.5 days. I'm still tired and I haven't done shit since we got home Saturday night. Love this city. Lack of my kind of outdoor recreation (biking, hiking) is the only thing keeping this from being an annual trip for us.
  19. Helped a buddy chop and load some wood yesterday. Our tiny supervisor barked a lot of orders and directed traffic. 75% of it wasn’t in English, but the job got done.
  20. This is how derailments start.
