Just booked a trip in late January. Haven't been since 2016. Fucking pumped.

100% agree.

Left Behind: A Quick Dose Of Post Big 12 Reality
Absolutely. I'm just saying that OSU probably isn't the first school to do this had Gundy been more publicly pro NIL in the first place. Gundy dug himself a little bit of a hole on that front and I have 0 doubt it's being used against him on the recruiting trail. Stuff like this is done to counteract that perception.

Bingo. Gundy has a reputation for being anti NIL and he's been working pretty hard to reverse that (as opposed to just dying on the vine like Dabo). This is just a means of letting people know he's on Team NIL.

I remember Bowman and Purdy playing in their respective freshmen years and the announcers billing it as a battle of freshman phenoms. It was a pretty tight game that we pulled out and I remember in the next offseason there was a Bowman vs. Purdy debate on a lot of Big 12 pods. Think that one got settled.

Realignment talk not going away
Kevin Warren? But to your point, teams 20-40 are essentially the same as teams 40-60 in terms of profile and viewership. 20-60 are more alike than 20-40 are like 1-20. You lose a lot of viewers if you just cut out 20 schools that actually care.

If there’s a super league it will be about 60 schools and everyone in it will have 50K + stadiums

Someone had photoshopped "Football" over "Soccer" on that graphic yesterday and I about rolled off my chair before I realized it had been altered.

It's like ESPN's constant divestment of talent has tangible consequences.

I generally agree with your point, I'm just pointing that his best season (which accounts for 25% of his tenure as a head coach at this point) beats a ton of active coaches, including a lot of the dudes ahead of him on that list. And it's only 3 seasons ago, so there's gonna be some recency bias. I think Baylor's a bottom 1/3rd (of the Big 12) team this year and he's back to being a DC next year.

He's 2 years removed from a conference title. Kirk Ferentz, for example, has never won an outright conference title.

Casey’s pizza is all they have going for them at this point, and you’re never more than 15 miles from one. Legitimately decent, but it used to be great. Some mom and pop gas stations have good pizza too.

Hit songs that have faded into obscurity
I'm an old Millenial who was on the school bus for 90 minutes a day between '92-'95 and we couldn't escape that shit either.

The Gin Blossoms had some excellent Paul Westerberg rip offs.

They sold out to Maverick from Utah. Kum & Go's will be gone soon. Plus, they were fairly inconsistent in their locations and layouts. Tons in central Iowa, but almost none in the far northern part of the state (where I live). It's all Kwik Trip/Star and Casey's, or mom and pop type joints. The occasional Love's at a busy interchange too.

To follow up on this again, I have seen far less Trump shit than the last two cycles. He'll still carry these counties (as well as our neighboring rural MN and WI counties), but enthusiasm and momentum for him seems to be waning. There's even a giant "KAMALA HARRIS" flag right off the main highway through my town, next to the Kwik Star (if you know the Upper Midwest, you know that this is basically the busiest spot in any small town). While it's every bit as cringey as a Trump flag, it feels like a meaningful data point towards a general sense of Trump fatigue.

Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton, and Other Good Stuff
Intensely emotional songs that resonate specifically with older Gen Z kids. I definitely prefer Sturgill, but I get his popularity.

Hard to tell. People have aggressively avoided talking politics this cycle and there are very few candidate signs up, period. I don’t think he’s peeling any Trumpers, but Walz is exactly the kind of guy that would have swept Iowa 15 years ago.

Yeah, I think OSU is a good squad, I just think if they and ISU play 10 times, no one is winning more than 6 games. The programs are in very similar places right now.
-
Left Behind: A Quick Dose Of Post Big 12 Reality
It doesn't need to. ISU actually beat OSU last year and both squads return basically everyone. It was just another data point, as OSU had a (by one game) better conference record than ISU (OSU played a weaker conference slate, dodging UT in the regular season). If you look at their results against common opponents, it's all over the place. OSU beat OU and KU, ISU lost to them. Both beat KSU (ISU did it on the road, OSU did it at home). Both beat the shit out of Cincy. ISU demolished BYU on the road, OSU should have lost to them at home. My point is that OSU is not in any way, shape, or form obviously on a different tier than ISU.
