  1. I wonder if he shut it down when things went pear shaped not realizing that his chute deployment at liftoff was part of the problem. Of course, anyone willing to bilk the flat earthers into funding their junior space man kicks may not have given a s**t that his steam powered thrust available was wildly short if that required to meet the mission.
  2. I thought he embraced the flat earth angle to try and secure funding for his private rocketry hobby. He had a long time to stare at the ground and think about his stupidity.
  3. Asteroid rudely bumps into Earth. You won’t believe what happens next. Social Justice Rock challenges planet and immediately regrets it.
  4. Looks like Rob Ryan faces of meth merge.
  5. Nah. It’s North Korea. They’ll probably just eliminate the village and surrounding villages, enforce a quarantine and proclaim that their dear leader cured it with his anti-viral farts or something.
  6. Orlando was and is on the Davisian level of having a complete inability to determine his unit’s strengths and weaknesses during the spring and in fall practice. His opponents usually made it quite clear to him by mid to late season after abusing his terrible assumptions about our personnel and their abilities. He’s also a strict adherent to having his best 11 on the field which, in his blockheaded logic, means that Malcom Roach will play MLB and cover WR’s up the boundary because Roach was one of his best players in a vaguely LB shaped body.
  7. You didn’t think a movie portraying a drilling team shot into space to intercept an asteroid on super secret modified space shuttles happened on a whim did you?
  8. That’s a bit different than just posting on a message board in which case I’d agree.
  9. Yeah....nobody thinks they'll effect the hiring process via a message board.
  10. I don't think the argument is that there's no way the hires won't be successful. The argument is that some are very solidly in the "we sure hope they're successful" instead of the " pretty sure they'll be successful" categories. Also, in some ways you've overcomplicating this. For example, if the coach has 7-10 years of experience with consistent results and occasional high delta seasons either way then you can go to the "countless" variables when trying to figure out the highs and lows. When the coach has 27 years of experience with the same consistent results, or in Valai's case has pretty much zero coaching experience, then you can pretty much count on the results attained over 27 years to happen again or not hope for much in the DB coach's case.
  11. I'd have to go look again. Advanced statistics site factoring in a lot of variables.
  12. Ash is a good communicator and comfortable behind the microphone. Yurcich seems to struggle when talking anything other than pure ball. Coach speak and press conference platitudes don’t come easy to him.
  13. He had to walk to get to the pool deck, and they don’t bring those free all you can eat buffets to you.
  14. To add a bit more color to our recent DL coach's resume. He's alleged to be a good recruiter, and has certainly pulled in a name or two in his 27 years. He's also not been amongst the top 50 recruiters in his own conference any time in nearly the last decade. Credit to a solid poster for digging that up on TOS.
  15. The majority of the 247 board.
  16. This. I gave up my season tickets after a decade after Strong’s second year. It’s a lot of time, effort and money to go watch bad football. Especially with young children in the equation. I can walk up and scalp a ticket to a game I want to see for far less than a season ticket package. And the rest of the time my couch is more comfortable, and the concessions in my fridge are cheaper and better than what’s offered in the stadium. Maybe when the kids get a bit older I’ll jump back in, but probably not unless I end up living near Austin.
  17. His three DL’s at IU were ranked as follows: 1, 73, 86. Even allowing for spare talent that’s a pretty familiar trend line for UT fans, and not one you’d want to see for the Asst HC for defense and DL coach. Also, and this is a common refrain from many, but needing to list who’d be better is a nonsensical cop out. There’s probably 20-30 DT coaches available for hire in any given year outside of the superstars. Nothing about this guy’s resume says best of the rest, hidden gem or diamond in the rough. He does have some special teams acumen so I guess that’s a plus if Herman actually bothers to use that facet of the game.
  18. This. Most found immediate jobs at lesser programs. It is not necessarily a sign of competence. Mike Gundy aside, most coaches are not adventuresome or even original thinkers and will turn to colleagues they know personally or tangentially to fill vacancies regardless of their recent track records. Just tracking our recent coordinator fires dating back to Mack is illuminating in regard to this. Some landed job immediately at smaller schools like Diaz at LaTech, and others received a well deserved time out in QC roles, but almost all resurfaced at name schools and have managed to unsurprisingly suck again once they were entrusted with larger roles against competent coaches and competition. TO was hired by a coach in a far more genius situation at USC where he’ll make a one year stop until that entire staff is relieved. He certainly didn’t step into an equal or better situation even though USC is a blue blood.
  19. Well I wouldn’t drive to Austin to use one. I’m sure I can find a subsidized model in a poor neighborhood around here.
  20. Shit. There are people pointing to athletic department coaching bios as evidence that certain hires are credible and point towards future success on some sites. These are grown men who don’t realize what kind of hand picked stats and accomplishments are put in those things to make the coach in question sound accomplished. It makes you want to find one of those 25 cent suicide booths from the future.
  21. He doesn’t have to look like a starting S, but have some personnel pride, buy an ab roller or something and invest in some grooming advice for that terrible beard.
