  1. The pic of Magnolia hit me in the gut. My all-nighter location of choice in college.
  2. None that came through on the eTrade feed, just shows it languishing at .0012. What a wild morning for ALPP too.
  3. The VERY FIRST THROW on that highlight reel is under thrown by four or five yards. Eagles has three full steps on the defender, and when the ball finally arrives, the defender actually has an outside shot at a PBU. That ball should be WAY farther in front of Eagles. It's a good read and good decision, but it's a hallmark average throw.
  4. I bought the same machine, and I run it with the 60v flex volt batteries. Like you, I have a lot of the DeWalt 20v line, so this made sense. Honestly, it might be the best of all of my cordless tools. We've got a largish lot, and each season we have to limb some trees, clear some shrubs, etc. This thing took down up to 3" diameter oak and cedar limbs with no issue, and was WAY easier to carry around than a huge gas powered thing, and cutting overhead limbs is WAY less dangerous. Chain still seems sharp after a days use, and I got about 45 cuts in live limbs before having to change that battery. Know what you're asking it to do, and you won't be disappointed.
  5. Well, two full days of curing is definitely better. It's less scratch-prone than yesterday, although still not where I want it. But I'm hopeful.
  6. Great rec; appreciate it. I'm ~100 pages into Washington. Holy fuck was he a shitty young General. I had no idea that he quite literally started the French and Indian (or Seven Years' War). Yeah, it war would undoubtedly broken out eventually anyway, but he straight up bull-in-a-china-shopped his negotiations and got a couple hundred Virginians killed in the process. But no doubt dude understood people, the value of land, and the value of sucking up to one's social superiors.
  7. Not easily ... tabletop runs into the drywall.
  8. Polyurethane finish question. I've used oil-based poly before; after three coats on a desk I built for my son, that finish is quite hard. It's difficult to scratch, to the point where I can't mark it with a fingernail. I feel like it cured to that level of durability in 3-4 days, but the toughness was evident 24 hours after the last coat was applied. On a current desk I'm building for my wife, I grabbed water-based poly. The lower VOC count appealed to me, as the design mandates that I do at least the last two coats indoors (it's a built-in with trim work, so the big piece had to go in and the get finished out all together). I've got three coats on now, which is what the back of the can recommends. Applied with a foam brush, liberally. Sanded with 400 grit between coats as well, and all the application and drying time was at a temp above 65 degrees. The finish LOOKS amazing. Flat, no bubbles anywhere, I even managed to keep cat hair out of it. But it's not strong. I can scratch it with a fingernail. I know it will cure SOME over the next couple of weeks, but I'm disappointed right now. Will it strengthen over time? Should I think about applying more coats? Am I up a creek? I just envision her using her craft supplies, or even just a laptop on this thing, sliding it around during normal work, and leaving light tracks. Those things add up over time, and I know it'll be all I see when I go in that room.
  9. Some of the posts on this thread, and a LOT of the twitter comments, are exactly the reason why athletes almost never say anything heartfelt or honest. Because they get crucified for it, no matter what they say. Have passion? You're showboating. Talk honestly about business/money/the situation? Can't you just have some passion? Talk about your love of the game? Ah, you're just grandstanding. Talk about how the team sucks? Stop throwing your teammates under the bus. Talk about how you're winning? Stop bragging. It's literally a no-win situation. The only way to escape all this bullshit is to be as bland as possible, and never show any human emotion. JJ Watt was asked "how do you bounce back from this?" and he gave a heartfelt answer about his love of the game, and his acknowledgement that people pay to watch him play and that's why going back tomorrow and doing the work isn't hard. That's it. Watching that clip, you can tell that he's just speaking from the heart, and isn't trying to build a narrative, or comment on the state of the team, or call out a teammate. His pronouns in that answer are royal pronouns - "if YOU can't get excited, then you're in the wrong job" isn't a dig at anyone, it's rhetorical, he's just answering the damn question. It was a great answer, and Watt has consistently proven himself to be one of the good guys. Can't we just accept that on it's face?
  10. And all this made completely moot by my opponent having Kamara. Fuck this stupid fucking game.
  11. Completely, 100% in line with OP/Longhornstampede here. Had 6-7 retail bags full of various things to wrap last night, plus Santa/stockings to set up for the littles. Retired to the office with a drink or three, and thoroughly enjoyed thinking about the recipients of each gift, what we've done together throughout the year, what the gift might mean to them, etc. We're full-on sharpie-directly-on-wrapping-paper tho. Bows and tags, ain't nobody got time for that shit.
  12. "Hate hate hate hate HATE hate hate!"
  13. "Learn on his own" doesn't mean that Tiger ignores the kid. They're on record saying that tiger is incredibly hands-on with Charlie w.r.t. golf. The point is that Tiger isn't a tiger mom (SWIDT?) about golf. I read it as "if you're going to play golf, we're going to play it the right way, but if you want to do other things, I'll support you in that just as much."
  14. Wait, are you guys going on a bus trip to Stillwater?!?!?
  15. Only way I could play good balls growing up was to buy x-outs. I remember discovering an end-cap of Titleist Tour Balata's one day at Oshmans (high school, MAYBE even middle school). $19.99, in the black-and-white box. Bought two, felt like a king. I was even able to buy the 90 compression, which I always preferred. "Practice" balls are the ones that they send to tournaments, so that staffers can warm up with the right balls. So they've been hit 3, maybe 4 times total, but they're full-quality balls unlike x-outs. Practice balls are a GREAT buy, although I'd be worried about authenticity on eBay. Not that they're selling fake ProV1s, but that they're selling refurbs and not legit practice balls. Refurbs are to be avoided - the process that the 3rd party folks use totally changes how the ball plays. But if you find Practice dozens at retail, or you trust the seller on eBay, snap 'em up.
  16. What about Dobbins vs. ARobinson for the Flex spot, then? (I love this analysis for starting RB, btw. I hadn't considered total touches).
  17. Oh, almost assuredly I am. But this is my longest-running league, I haven't won since 2006, and I'm the best team by several hundred points over the regular season. I'd really like to not come in 2nd due to a fluke. All three RBs save cook, and ARobinson, are projected between 9.8 and 10.8 points. There's no obvious play.
  18. First time posting on this thread this year. I started my FFL season with a pretty lackluster attitude, but going 12-3 and making the championship game improves attitudes considerably. Would love some input on Flex ... RBs go Ekeler and Cook WRs go ABrown, Hopkins (Murray is my QB too) Flex options are ARobinson, Dobbins, and Lockett. By points, my starting RBs and WRs are correct, and the Flex spot goes to ARobinson. But Dobbins is on a hell of a hot streak, and playing the woeful Giants. Ekeler is a re-injury risk, too, although he looked strong last week. Right now I'm leaning Dobbins over Ekeler at RB, and ARobinson in Flex. Thoughts? Edit: Scoring is 6pt TDs, 1pt per 10 yards rushing or receiving, bonuses for 100 yard games and 20+ yard gains (we definitely prioritize "explosive plays")
  19. TSNP showing some little-engine-that-could vibes this week ...
  20. Already learning all kinds of shit (naturally). Dude lived HARD growing up, legit mountain man (cue "twelve stories high made of radiation").
  21. I've really narrowed my purchasing lately, and I'm convinced that I'm going to have to go secondary. I don't drink nearly enough bourbon to have the kind of volume I have in my cabinet already. If anyone has a line on a Weller Single Barrel (the orange label), I'm your huckleberry. Yes, I know what I'm asking. Aside from that, I'm only buying Eagle Rare or BT Kosher if they're out, and regular BT if I see one to stock up as the daily. I'm tired of the runaround, tbh.
  22. Lol, sorry.I really didn't think they'd sell on eBay, but now they have a bid and several watchers so I guess they're off the market here. Literally half an hour after I posted this. Mods if you want to just delete this, that's fine too. I know some of you have been interested in my various golf club liquidation events. I'm getting rid of a set that I bought quite a while ago - the plan was to turn them into a display piece, but it just never materialized. Awesome condition clubs from the early '60s. Serial numbers match, etc. Details in the listing - https://www.ebay.com/itm/124494366980. I'd sell them here for $75 to someone in Austin - saves me eBay fees, shipping hassles etc. These clubs are really sharp, esp the woods.
  23. Details here - https://austin.craigslist.org/spo/d/austin-birdieball-4x10-putting-green/7249905003.html. In south Austin.
