    Facing Nolan

I saw it a month or so ago at a screening they had here in Austin and loved it. Brought back a lot of memories. There are a ton of great interviews with old players. Dave Winfield, George Brett, a bunch of old astros. Nolan’s my all time favorite.
  3. I have carved out a niche representing injured plaintiffs in (typically large energy related) bankruptcies and it's rewarding but often frustrating work. We've had good luck protecting our clients' claims from the traps in the big reorg plans debtors are filing but it takes a ton of back and forth with biglaw br sections to reach an agreement (and, often times, just when you think you have a deal the carrier or PI club's lawyer will throw a wrench in the process with some crazy redline that guts the protection you've worked so hard to craft) but for the reasons discussed above it is risky to take it to the mat in br court. Throw in a springing maritime lien and you get a lot of funny looks from the adverse parties and the Court.
  4. At la cantera today and would like to get good puffy tacos / cheese enchiladas. Any suggestions for something relatively close?
  5. is today's game sold out? i'd think there were GA tickets left but i'm not seeing any on the website?
  6. big ask but would love for you to start a thread chronicling y'all's adventures and life up there. fascinating to all of us Texas folks.
  7. I drove by this morning on the way in to the office and it's bad -- most of roof and a few exterior walls completely collapsed.
  8. For the lawyers who have made the switch or know folks who have made the switch (from partner at a firm to in-house), is there a practice area that dominates? I'm not talking industry specific stuff, more commercial litigators vs. transactional lawyers. Transactional might seem like the most obvious candidates at first glance but I'd think a seasoned commercial litigator can add value from the risk assessment perspective (most have seen a ton of deals go sideways for a variety of reasons) and also have enough experience to issue spot and hire and coordinate with transactional lawyers to get deal docs drafted.
  9. I'm grew up in Lake Jackson and it had the only mall (the Brazos Mall) in the area. There was a pizza by the slice place called Giovanni's. There have been and are a million by the slice mall pizza shops and half of them are probably named Giovanni's and I'm sure if I tasted it today it wouldn't be that great but man we fucking loved that place growing up. I've tried to find the chain on the internet a few times with no luck. I would recognize the menu / script if I saw it. Anyone know of any Giovanni's mall pizza stands with beige / tan signage?
  10. did you make an appointment or just walk in? anyone know of any walk in locations in Austin for the Moderna booster?
  11. I've got a few older vehicles (mid 2000's chevy truck, mid 2000's outback, and mid 2000's chevy cruz) that I need to sell. I'm not worried about getting top dollar -- just need to get rid of them. Any thoughts on best service that will come pick them up and take them away (one or more might not be drivable right now).

  14. Does any other streaming service offer those?
  15. very long thread so my apologies if the question has been answered. Google fiber is getting rid of their tv service so I need to figure out what to do. We already have HBO streaming, Prime, and Netflix. Is Youtube TV the way to go to get local network (really only need networks to watch sports). Can I get espn / lhn on youtube? if not, how do i get those streaming? thank you
  16. Can you show a cell phone pic of your vax card or is hard copy required?
  17. That is awesome. The F1 show is great.
  18. I agree he’s pissing off both ends of the spectrum by not being far enough on either side but isn’t the far right much more important to him (from a need to appease perspective)? Far right has potential to fuck him in the primary or with a third party nutter in the general but I think his ‘moderate, more educated voter bloc’ will go with him in the primary and the general no matter what as they’re not gonna go west or huffines and would never go D in the general. I’d love to be wrong but don’t see any chance of getting any R’s out of statewide office until the collective traditional D base gets us there by gradual growth. It’s not going to happen by the ‘moderate, more educated voter bloc’ that was willing to vote for Abbott going D. Maybe my personal feeling that I don’t want anyone who voted for Abbott crossing over in the first place bc those people are morally bankrupt and destined for hell anyway and I don’t want to win if it takes aligning with them but I just don’t see a big enough group of those folks crossing over to D in a general to matter.
  19. After years or wanting one and just never going through with it I think I'm finally going to treat myself to a 20 ga over/under for dove and quail. Any suggestions on one that I can use and pass down to my boy? I want a good quality gun but don't care about the super fancy engraving, etc. Any idea on what i'm looking at for something like that...$1K, $1.5K, $2K?
