  1. Detective Jones might be the most interesting person in the doc so far, if it isn't Springsteen. That guy today is portrayed as just completely broken and alone, which is so jarring compared to the bustling family home with kids hanging off of him when that CBS reporter visited him in the 90s. PTSD might not be the whole story with him. I'm not sure I like how Brown is approaching this, since we're halfway done and barely scratched the surface on the theories of the murder that actually went to trial. Hardly anything about Michael Scott or the DNA. I understand wanting to know more about the victims and the impact of the murders on the families, but do we actually need a lengthy segment for each tree and plaque around town? I'm much more interested in the Old Austin cast of characters, like the poor girl whose occult dildo collection was raided. Would've loved more time behind the "Quite Please" curtain during the Springsteen interview instead of the hasty series of clips we got.
  2. We just gotta destroy the planet as we figure it out
  3. Don't be so shrill, Shriekin' Stephen
  4. You can take the man out of McKinsey but you'll never take the McKinsey out of the man.
  5. How does it compare to this time last year? I'm talking about forums like PBD and Candance Owens. Epstein videos still easily clearing 1M+ views.
  6. The spree would've been hijack from 183 access road, left on Burnet, stop/crash at the VW dealership somewhere between Tumble 22 and Lala's, hijack another car, then FAFO time
  7. The honey biscuits are much better than Popeye's starch pucks, but chicken-wise Church's usually leaves much to be desired.
  8. Why Church's when Popeye's exists?

  10. Much fewer bots on bluesky than X and you can't trust the algorithm there.
  11. top trending topic on bluesky is "Epstein Case"

  13. Epstein is still a pretty common conversation topic. Hasn't gone away where he needs it to go away.
  14. People are too simple and reactionary. In times of war, the temptation grows, the temptation to construct a barbaric other. Grifters know this and ramp up their antisemitism. MTG is just the canary in the reactionary coal mine, but mark my words you will see a flood of antisemites who will be taking Likud's acts of aggression as confirmation of the validity of their antisemitic beliefs. The exact same way reactionaries took newsreels from the Middle East and acts of terror worldwide as confirmation of the validity of their Islamophobia (which, unlike antisemitism, the mainstream media had no problem with signal boosting). As much as we try to fight the conflation between Zionism and Judiaism, there's only so much that can be done against the fact that most people are fucking morons and prefer reductive explanations and can't be bothered to distinguish between genocidal maniacs and ordinary Jews. Roger Waters unfortunately is too erudite for mainstream audiences. His take on NATO, while overall a good take, failed to properly account for ordinary people's intolerance for military invasions and it came off as too supportive of Russia's invasion of Ukraine which made him look crazy. If the US right-wing is first to abandon Israel, they will overperform in the midterms. Democrats need to ban AIPAC yesterday if they are serious about fighting fascism at home.
  15. I haven't been able to grill much this summer because of scheduling conflicts and inclement weather, but I'm hoping to pick things up when football season begins in earnest and although I can afford higher prices I am definitely noticing them and the wincing faces of shoppers making decisions of what not to get and reconsidering what to buy. No CR though.
  16. I'm not ready to overreact to a preseason performance where both teams are more interested in staying healthy and trying things out than actually winning the game. He still has many of the same tendencies that bothered us, but he also has an incredible arm and with the right attitude he will improve at reading NFL defenses. He knows he's in a competition with Wilson, so that added mental pressure also could have affected his splitsecond decisionmaking. Zach Wilson has been in the league long enough that we can be pretty confident he's not going to get any better, so if we're grading on a curve I wouldn't feel great about my job security, if I'm Wilson. Lots of room for improvement for Ewers, that's for damn sure.
  17. With a good OL he can be a game manager. That's not bad for 7th round.
  18. Wong put up a pretty good fight against Thanos. I was surprised
  19. Meat prices much higher across the board, with only some odd exceptions. Shoulder is especially much higher https://www.beefitswhatsfordinner.com/resources/wholesale-price-update Definitely seeing it at grocery stores.
