  1. Shifting gears here ... About 5 or 6 years ago, I attended the wedding of the son of a good friend of mine. The event was very nice, wedding held at the Pharmacy Museum. We did the strolling through the French Quarter, on the streets with a police escort. Nice event. The next night, I had booked a room at the Columns Hotel. The Columns is a beautiful hotel in the Garden District. Originally built in 1883 and restored to its former grandeur. Naturally, rumors about ghosts, hauntings and apparitions since the Columns had gone through some very tough times in the past. Particularly, Room 10. So naturally, I requested and got, Room 10 for the night. That room is opulent in an old N'awlins way. Well, my then current lust interest and I walk up the street, watch the Game of Thrones episode that night at the bar and return to the Columns. Rather tepid, uninspiring swapping of bodily fluids. Then sleep. About 2:00 a.m., I wake up ... a bit. You know when you are in a half awake, half asleep state. But, I become acutely aware of this ice cold sensation slowly going down my arm. And I sense ... I know, I absolutely know, that there is some... presence, right there. The room is dark of course. But, I slowly lift my head since I hear something in the bathroom... some noise that to this day, I cannot identify for sure. I try to turn my head to look toward the bathroom but it is almost as if a presence is holding my head in place, refusing to let me turn my head. And this fear just permeates every aspect. I wake up around 6:00 a.m. ... covered in sweat. The sheets are soaked with sweat. And the room is peaceful. When asked, she has no idea at all of the "presence." Just thinking about it brings reflections of, perhaps some of the feelings that night.
  2. 42.2(a) Classified drivers who have received 15 or less (?) cumulative grid penalties ... SWEET BLUE JUMPIN' BUDDHA IN A CLOWN CAR! It's not that difficult. "Fewer" is to be used with countable nouns like ... penalties! "Less" is used for singular mass nouns .. like "less salt," "less money" etc.
  3. Linda Cohn?
  4. So, for this of us who were there in 1990 ... the loudest home game I have ever been to! (been going since 1977) We exorcised some demons that night. And the dulcet tones of Wally Pryor yelling out, "Some one get those idiots off the goal posts!" was greatness.
  5. Sooooooo ... This past late Saturday afternoon, the Consort and I are driving to a party. We have the Alabama - Tennessee game on the radio. It is being broadcast on the Ticket. Not much time left on the clock. Bama is driving. The Suspenders is building. Then, about 20 seconds left in the game. It is 4th down. Bama trots out its field goal team. They are lining up for the snap ... and THEN ... STATIC... MORE STATIC ... THEN ... Welcome to the TICKET. This is the Dallas Stars Pre-game show! Well, we get to the party in less than 5 minutes. I ask about the game ... "So, I presume Bama won?" "Oh no... it was an epic finish! Tennessee won! It was incredible! Now, I believe that the switch over was probably automatic... but even still, what a huge fuck up.
  6. You know... not to put too fine of a point on it but...
  7. But before we can start awarding ourselves Victoria Crosses and Congressional Medals of Honor and so on and so forth and such like... I think I'd better point out that one, we are still incredibly young on the offensive line. That two, our wide receiver room does not have the depth we need yet. That three, with as good as Ewers appears to be, his college experience consists of one game against Spare University, half of the first quarter against Bama and a very impressive beat down against ou. There will be growing pains. And that four, I don't think our little genius Sergeant Miller there has even got a box of matches left in his suitcase. And so I think we can take it, gentlemen, that we're going to have a very long walk home.
  8. As for an "alternate uniform," how wonderfully common while also being contrived at the same time.

Soooo... I'm chronologically 63 rotations around the sun... but, mentally I'm about 35 and emotionally about 12 years old. My 32nd Texas - ou game. To call it "glorious" would be charitable. So much more than that. Went to MiCo at Klyde Warren Park after the game. A LOT of Sooner fans there finishing up their food. "Oh... you didn't stay for the entire game?" I had to go to a "80s Prom Party" a good friend put on that night. So ... (and you can't see it but the bow tie had burnt orange longhorn heads on it). These times don't happen that often, but when they do ....
  10. So, assuming Rojo leaves this year ... with a good combine he is what ... a 6th round pick? Maybe 5th? But, if he comes back, Texas will have a one of the top QBs in the nation, an offensive line with another year of strength and conditioning under its belt, a wide receiver group second to none and Rojo would be undoubtedly, the lead RB at the start of the year. With a great year, does Rojo elevate himself to possibly a third round pick? Maybe 2nd? So, 5th round picks average about $680K their first year. 6th round picks average about $650K. The 1st pick in the 2nd round will get about $8.68 million, the last pick in the 2nd about $5.24 million. The 1st pick in the 3rd round will get about $5 million. The last pick in the 3rd round will get about $4.4 million. So, if Rojo returns, with some NIL revenue, an insurance contract to protest against injury, and if he busts his ass ... financially, it may be in his interest to return.
  11. That was the HIGHLIGHT! You had to put up with my pedantic negativism!
  12. Well fuck a duck. Sorry.
  13. WHAT? So, we should just ignore the reams of research showing the biological and genetic causes and predispositions for alcoholism? We should just ignore that a research professor at UT is working with a university in Sweden and their studies indicate that the expression in one gene, (labeled GAT-3) which gene controls the neurotransmitter called GABA is known to be involved in alcohol dependence. And instead of manifesting itself in the reward circuitry of the brain, is more commonly found in the amygdala. (The amygdala is commonly thought to form the core of the neural system for processing emotions and memories related to fear. And let's not even look into all of the other environmental factors which could be involved. Nope...Sark became an alcoholic because he could not win football games... Good Lord.
  14. I guess my intertrons journey has been a bit different. In the early "oughts", I was registered on hornfans but saw how pretty boring it was. Did a quick search and found ... soonerfans. Naturally, I go there and registered as TexasLidig8r. Apparently back then, I could be a bit of a pot stirring curmudgeon. And so, the pot stirring began. It was epic. It was fun. To become the villain of the entire board! Schulz (who posts here occasionally) was on there as well dishing it out. Then... things began to evolve. Shaggy came into existence. I was registered there and posted more frequently than I do here. With the sooner folk, their DFW people on soonerfans had occasional lunches. So, one time I attended. Met a number of them face to face. Some good natured ribbing, jokes. Of course, I would still create strife on their board. The noobies wanted to hang me in effigy. And then... A few with legal questions reached out. I responded. Then, a few needed some legal help in Texas. And now, I was financially benefitting! Phil Owens, one of the owners of soonerfans was a fellow mouthpiece in Oklahoma. He helped me get admitted pro hac vice in Oklahoma fed courts on a few cases. Perhaps as we age, the piss and vinegar becomes less, but the humor remains. So, during Texas - ou week it very much becomes, "Fuck 'em and Feed 'em Fish Heads!" I do lurve this board as an outlet into humor, some clever insults and sometimes, on very rare occasions, the incredible depth of the soul is reflected and found. Carry on Gentlemen... Carry on.
  15. I know that ketamine infusion treatment is being increasingly used to treat various mental health conditions. Ketamine infusion has been used with promising results to treat Depression and bi-polar conditions and those conditions secondary to eating disorders. So much so that if you have a very good insurance advocate, some health insurance providers may approve this treatment regiment. Its success rate (for short term symptoms can be has high as 60 - 70%. I have had several clients with severe eating disorders with depression, anxiety and other co-occurring issues and each of them have reported some improvement when undergoing ketamine infusion as part of their treatment regiment. Here is one website discussing it: https://dallas-psychiatrist.com/ketamine-depression-treatment/ Here is another: https://texasketaminespecialists.com/how-does-ketamine-work-dallas-plano-richardson-tx/ One of the most important things is to be sure that whoever you talk to about this treatment, they answer each and every question you have to your satisfaction.
  16. In keeping with the recent feel good interactions on this thread, I am amazed at events or circumstances that have a way of just coming to you in unexpected ways. I have a good friend who lives about 15 houses away from me. He is an absolute madman, Harvard PhD, he invents AI which improves robotic brains. (I call him Miles Dyson and we have on numerous occasions, discussed the ethics and morality of non biological intelligence becoming self aware.) His mom is Mitzi Perdue. Mitzi is a very well known international advocate on human trafficking. Last month the Ukrainian government asked her to come to Ukraine to observe and report on the human and organ trafficking going on as a result of the war. She will be coming to Dallas after the first of the year. She has also agreed to give a talk on Ukraine, human and organ trafficking. And so, I got New Friends New Life (the largest organization in North Texas emphasizing trafficking) to help co-host the event along with Mental Health America of Greater Dallas. It should be an incredible event and so look forward to helping organize this event. Along with that event, we are talking with UTD about hosting a chess tournament at the same time. My friend [Miles Dyson] is very good at chess. And we are learning that chess can improve cognitive abilities and exercise the brain. UTD has one of the best collegiate chess teams in the US. So, we put this event on when the next world championship of chess is being played. At the same time, we get a number of mental health organizations to help co-sponsor this event and agree to set up tables with information for the thousands of UTD students. So, what does this have to do with eating disorders? Very little other than ... I believe mental health organizations and foundations need to learn to collaborate, to share resources and to make themselves more available to the general public. That is so missing today. In the meantime, treat yourself with courage and grace. Hug your children. Tell them you love them each day.
  17. Well hell... I will be there October 4 - 7. Gotta come back for the Texas - ou game.
  18. I can't but wonder though ... anything that remains submerged in the ocean as its home environment is going to have a very strong "fishy" smell and taste to it. I was taught to stay away from that!
  19. Is it just me or are Mrs. Patrese's nipples in fine fettle?
  20. Agree on the inquiry about the row. Actually, I am looking for 8 tickets. But, can split up into two groups of 4.

    Dallas | BBQ

So, I have not yet been to Willie Meshack's BBQ in the Central Market Center at the corner of Coit and Geo. Bush. Its hours and days of operation are pretty limited. May try it tomorrow. If so, I will take some pics, etc. Here is its menu: https://www.ubereats.com/store/willie-meshacks-bbq/m5TtAHuPSja_EDQTEsvcHA?diningMode=PICKUP&pl=JTdCJTIyYWRkcmVzcyUyMiUzQSUyMjU4MzAlMjBQcmVzdG9uJTIwRmFpcndheXMlMjBEciUyMiUyQyUyMnJlZmVyZW5jZSUyMiUzQSUyMjE4OTliNWI1LTBmOWMtODAxNS04MmI3LTI2ZmNjMmQwNWFjOCUyMiUyQyUyMnJlZmVyZW5jZVR5cGUlMjIlM0ElMjJ1YmVyX3BsYWNlcyUyMiUyQyUyMmxhdGl0dWRlJTIyJTNBMzIuOTg3NDM1MiUyQyUyMmxvbmdpdHVkZSUyMiUzQS05Ni44MDc1OTE0JTdE&utm_campaign=place-action-link&utm_medium=organic&utm_source=google
  22. Here is the Complaint: https://www.courthousenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/lowery-texas-am-complaint-usdc-houston.pdf This has a 12(b)(6) motion to dismiss written all over it. There is nothing in the Complaint about class allegations. Those have to be plead specifically. Unless they dramatically change the pleadings, this has sanctions written all over it.
  23. Yup ....
  24. Oh Good Lord. Don't candy up the cars. You had an iconic color, screwed that up by going with a matte look. Now, the yellow? I bet Mattia, that fuzzy haired, four eyed goofy MFer probably had a hand in that.
