    What are they standing on?

Does the emperor return? Luke is resurrected as emperor? Someone is cloned?

Probably a part of the Death Star that Palpy died on.   You don’t show the crashed Death Star in a trailer, hear Palpatine, and not somehow link the two.

Do we have a bubble that I'm not aware of? We don't have a housing crisis/bailout to contend with this time.

It may not be the same as the 2000s, but throw out a few major rounds of layoffs, and a whole lot of people are going to be selling their houses in Austin.

It still blows my mind how many people are basically living paycheck-to-paycheck.    I get it for poor people who are treading water, but not people who have homes that are hanging around their necks if they get laid off for even just a few months.  I've got a friend at SpiceWorks who has been sweating bullets and doing every single interview he can find..  As far as he knows, he's safe, but when those layoffs were announced, he flipped the fuck out.

What are you doing to prepare?

I've been passing out the number for my burner phone to quite a few Surly wives.

Well fuck, I'd be doing that even if Trump wasn't intent on running the economy into the ground.

Werner Herzog in Star Wars?? That’s so badass.

Werner Herzog and Nick Nolte in a live-action Star Wars TV series.  And Giancarlo Esposito and Carl Weathers.  And Pedro Pascal.  And Bill Burr.

Still trying to wrap my head around what we did to deserve this.

I mean, the guy has always been a few eggs short of a dozen... but this week has been horrible, even for him.

Either he's an absolute moron, even more of one than many think, or he's actually having fun joking about the DOW dropping 2%, affecting people's savings/retirement/etc. No matter which answer is correct, neither are fit to hold that office.

Trump followers that truly think he knows better than the Fed about how to stave off recession... I just don't have words anymore. I'm tired of sighing, rolling my eyes, and wondering what my first child (on the way!) will be born into down the road. Hopefully these four years are just an "Oops, our bad. -America" footnote in the history books.

This week has been special.  Started off with the dumbass Greenland crap, ended with him impotently ordering US companies to do something, when they don't have to do shit.

I sort of think the same thing.  After he's out, all our allies will look at each us and say What the hell was that all about?, have a good laugh, then be back to business as usual.

Our credibility is fucked. Why make any agreement with the US when a lunatic can undo 8 years of planning, diplomacy, and agreements in short order. We keep careening from guardrail to guardrail. We are toxic.

Undo 8 years of planning, diplomacy, and agreements?  Try decades.

You think if Obama went to twitter to order international companies to do what he wants there would have been a problem? Hmmm.

I think this, for a lot of people, is nearing peak crazy.  I am seeing FReepers and other such forums saying "well, he doesn't actually have this power", which is good.  It means they realize that he has limits on his power, and also, the thought of a Democrat doing the same scares the shit out of them.
