I mean, the guy has always been a few eggs short of a dozen... but this week has been horrible, even for him.

Either he's an absolute moron, even more of one than many think, or he's actually having fun joking about the DOW dropping 2%, affecting people's savings/retirement/etc. No matter which answer is correct, neither are fit to hold that office.

Trump followers that truly think he knows better than the Fed about how to stave off recession... I just don't have words anymore. I'm tired of sighing, rolling my eyes, and wondering what my first child (on the way!) will be born into down the road. Hopefully these four years are just an "Oops, our bad. -America" footnote in the history books.

This week has been special.  Started off with the dumbass Greenland crap, ended with him impotently ordering US companies to do something, when they don't have to do shit.

I sort of think the same thing.  After he's out, all our allies will look at each us and say What the hell was that all about?, have a good laugh, then be back to business as usual.

Our credibility is fucked. Why make any agreement with the US when a lunatic can undo 8 years of planning, diplomacy, and agreements in short order. We keep careening from guardrail to guardrail. We are toxic.

Undo 8 years of planning, diplomacy, and agreements?  Try decades.

You think if Obama went to twitter to order international companies to do what he wants there would have been a problem? Hmmm.

I think this, for a lot of people, is nearing peak crazy.  I am seeing FReepers and other such forums saying "well, he doesn't actually have this power", which is good.  It means they realize that he has limits on his power, and also, the thought of a Democrat doing the same scares the shit out of them.

Put me in the turning point camp. There's blood in the water. Pelosi needs to put her heel to his throat. And hold all the republicans who enabled this accountable. Every single one.

Yep. Not everybody has seen it, but I've seen this with friends and relatives who finally reached their point, and even some that openly admitted that without Hillary around, they have no problem voting D.   That may seem like a silly point, but they did this knowing full-well that they were going to be attacked by the Trumpkins of the friends/family, and they were, and they didn't give a shit or back down.  And I've seen some of the evangelicals definitely cool their heals after the rally in WV, and after the Jewish comments (apparently their line is people bragging about others claiming they are the second coming of God).

The Denmark stuff is icing on the cake.  It just looked full-on regard.

That's a bit extreme.  I travel to 2 or 3 different cities every week and hardly any of them have an urban trail anywhere near as nice as the Austin hike and bike trail.  We are really lucky to have it and it could be way worse.

Don't get me wrong - it's a great feature, along with some of the related trails (being able to follow Shoal Creek from around 45th-street area down to the lake, etc.).

I even like these new docks they have planned.

But I just think that Austinites will fuck it up somehow.

So we might be getting a Sopranos and Breaking Bad movie in the same year?

Should have moved Deadwood back to 2020, tossed in a Rome movie, and it would have been a nice little run of TV shows on the big screen.

That dry dock rendering is missing the homeless camp.

    And too many white people.

From something I read elsewhere, they are building it to raise up and down because the Shoal Creek outlet is pointed right at it.

I do like the overall goals.  It's a shame they can't keep the bacteria levels under control, and clear out a stretch of the waterfront for a swimming area.

  8. So we have one of their first big changes - a couple of docks, one wet, one dry, under the First Street bridge.  The "dry" dock is floating, and rises/lowers with the lake level.  They are expanding the wetland area around there as well.

  9. Just fucking lovely.  They did add on a charge of deadly conduct for leaving the rifle in the park.

    https://cbsaustin.com/news/local/man-who-had-rifle-in-austin-park-shouldnt-have-passed-background-check-to-buy-it-but-did

    Quote

The owner of a local gun store told CBS Austin the man arrested in Pease Park after hiding a rifle in the bushes was able to legally purchase the firearm from him last month, despite having an active felony warrant.

Michael Cargill, owner of Central Texas Gunworks, also says 23-year-old Dalton Broesche took a concealed handgun permit class with him, but had no valid CHL permit when he encountered Austin Police.

    ...

According to Cargill, he sold Broesche the AR-556 in July after waiting three days for the required FBI background check to be completed.

Broesche was cleared to buy the weapon, despite having a felony warrant for his arrest out of Harris County from July 2018 for allegedly threatening his father with a knife.

That should have prevented him from buying the rifle, or owning any firearm whatsoever, according to ATF regulations.

Cargill blames Harris County for not processing the felony charge correctly so that it would show up on a background check.

Currently, Broesche is facing a deadly conduct charge for abandoning the rifle in the park in addition to the unlicensed carry charges.
