  1. Hopefully, but I wouldn't count on it. I'm just happy SMU didn't get in too.
  2. The rushing of the field after beating South Dakota was embarrassing. I felt embarrassed watching it. It was sort of like watching homeless people have sex.
  3. Nebraska needs to get back to what made them successful in the first place, which was pumping functionally illiterate farm boys full of steroids.
  4. Just tuned into this one. How bad is Nebraska?
  5. Another solid performance for Everton. Winning PL matches, especially away, is good anytime, but getting off to a strong start to the season was crucial for them to tamp down some of the negativity from the anti-Rafa people. He seems to be doing a really good job with this team, which isn't all that much different than last year's team in terms of personnel.
  6. Wouldn't WVU, UCF and whatever other eastern team have to go to Utah and vice versa?
  7. It's a tough call, but I think the music might actually be the worst part of this video.
  8. Not that it's the most important factor here by any means, but the GOP hive mind/propaganda machine has clearly pivoted from "immigrants are causing the COVID surge" to "Biden messed up Afghanistan" as their primary social media focus.
  9. I'm not a scouser, but I've followed Everton for a while now, and I thought he was a reasonable choice. Everton completely dominated the 2nd half today, but some online fans were already melting down at halftime.
  10. So, my 7 year old daughter, who goes to an elementary school in Pflugerville got her first "close possible contact" with a COVID positive kid yesterday (she went in person all last year and we never got one of these notifications). This was on day 1 of the school year. What a shitshow. Even though we live in Austin, there's evidently enough rednecks and/or libertarians in Pflugerville that PfISD isn't gonna defy Gov. Dipshit.
  11. Dallas knew Luka would be great and wanted him for that reason. It may have taken some luck to get him, but that's hardly "backing into" it.
  12. Not that my opinion really matters or will change anything, but as a Tech fan, the only G5 scenario that stands out as decidedly worse than any other is this. Not only is the concept (an all Texas league) a proven failure, but save for maybe UNT, I hate the fans of all these schools and want to get as far away from all of them as possible.
  13. They will, but that won't be ESPN - and, more importantly, that's not what ESPN is banking on. They don't think they'll be getting the same ratings that all the SEC games got last year + the ratings UT and OU got last year. They think they'll be getting far more than that, as they believe most casual fans will want to watch these games too. And that's my point. The gigantic pool of casual fans has lots of different motivations for why they would watch an SEC game. I think ESPN is overestimating how many casual viewers, including fans of other leagues, fans of G5 schools, etc., want something like UT/OU in the SEC, much less something more consolidated than that.
  14. This could be the fatal flaw in the ESPN consolidation move. On the positive side, consolidation means fewer teams, so fewer slices of the pie, and better average quality of game televised, at least theoretically, since you'll have, even just with UT/OU in the SEC and no other major changes, more games where a brand name is involved and more of two brand names matching up. On the negative side, though, it's like, the NFL (or NBA/MLB/NHL) has a stable group of teams, which rarely changes with expansion or maybe a team moving to a different city, and they're evenly distributed across the country. If you grow up in Texas, you can choose the Cowboys or the Oilers/Texans, or you can just follow whichever team you want, for whatever reason. With CFB, I grew up a Tech fan and did my undergrad there, so if you cut my school out, I'll still be watching them as best I can, but I'll be watching 0 Super SEC and as little as possible of anything else on ESPN. We'll have two schools in Texas in the Super League, if it comes to that, but I'm not going to be a UT or aggy fan, like some sort Texas State Bobhorn cuck, since Tech is out of the top tier. I'm just out. I won't be doing the "Tech is my favorite tier 2 team, and UT is my tier 1 team". Fuck no. I know there are plenty of t-shirt fans that do follow UT/aggy - and there will be more - and there will also be big fans of the IR8 schools that still watch the SEC and whatever comes after it because they just love college football, but I think most of us will just watch our teams in our minor leagues, if that, and otherwise find some other form of entertainment. I also think, when you see more and more entire states or even regions of the country with no representatives in the top tier if it gets down to as small as 48 or less, you'll lose a lot of casual fans there too.
  15. How about "ESPN names Miley Cyrus as the new head football coach of the Tennessee Volunteers"?
  16. What could go wrong with the Disney corporation owning big time college football? Nothing to see here.
  17. You didn't mean that when you said, "I don't expect emoting on another school's fansite"? My apologies, but I'm not sure how else to read that.
  18. Do you want a TexAgs like forum where no dissent against the home team is allowed? I don't get the impression that most here do.
  19. If it's not OK for ISU, Tech, OSU, etc., fans to be disappointed or upset by this, why is it OK for UT fans to be happy about it? It's just business.
  20. People in Lubbock are going to be out for blood, which is not an endorsement of this behavior - nor would I personally want to be involved with the bloodletting. .
  21. It may be an obvious point, but we've been pretty bad at football for most of the last decade. It's 100% the fault of our leadership, but nonetheless, if any other Big 12 school just went though what we have in the last 11 years, i.e., a shocking and unexpected firing of a very popular and successful coach (for dubious reasons), followed by two terrible coaching hires and possibly a third (the jury's still out on Wells, but if nothing else, he was a budget minded hire), and whatever it's been - 6 or 7 non-winning seasons in the last 9 or so - those schools wouldn't have good viewership numbers either. The only exceptions to that would be OU and UT. And there's the difference. It's why I don't honestly think we're in any worse shape right now than we would've been if our football program was clearly on the upswing. As a side note, now that we're good and fucked, I fully expect our football team will be a lot better this year.
  22. They will if TV says they will pay the Pac more $ for adding one or more of these schools. If not, they won't.
  23. There are parallels, but the biggest difference, which is something goes beyond just football, is that fans all across Europe - including fans of the big clubs who would have been included in the Super League - said the super league was grossly unfair and went and against the whole spirit of competition in football (soccer) where teams that invest and try to succeed get rewarded while those that don't get punished. While it's not been unanimous, the consensus reaction - from fans of P5 schools and from fans of G5 schools - to the "other 8" schools getting left behind has been "haha, they fucking suck and deserve to get relegated". That's the American mentality.
