  1. And that’s after his state championship game. It’s also only early signing day.
  2. His high school team is still playing, they’re in the state championship next week. So I imagine that’s where his focus is. Makes sense to not expect any final decision from him until after the games are over.
  3. Wrong thread, my bad. Edit: I’ll leave it here anyway cuz lol.
  4. If Gbenda comes back for his Covid year, it’s 3 guys. And I expect one of our young guys to be physically ready by next year. It’s a luxury take position imo, if there’s an obvious stud available, of course you get him, but I don’t see it as a must.
  5. As a whole, for sure. But individually, no one has experience until they get it. Unless you abandon high school recruiting in its entirety, there’s going to be some inexperienced guys playing at the beginning of the year for every team. If you recruit well, it’s fine.
  6. Maybe we get a LB, I don’t know, but some of y’all are going to have to come to grips with the fact that some of the young unproven guys are going to play next year, and that’s ok. We’re not filling every position with the portal.
  7. As far as I know, there isn’t one, schools just have to make it work academically. Which would mean as long as they can register for classes. But a lot of this stuff is unclear, there could be some rule I don't know about.
  8. This answers a question some of us had earlier. The portal window does in fact extend for playoff teams. Problem is, there are only so many spots available, so the smart move for transfers from playoff teams is to still enter the portal right away.
  9. Your blood pressure has to be sky high, y’all aren’t even really disagreeing, his whole point is that the blanket statement of “multiple decommitments means bad player” is dumb. And your added context on Banks and Barron is actually proof that the blanket statements are dumb. Yes, Hampton is flakier than Banks and Barron when context is added, but perhaps people should always add in that extra context instead of just making useless blanket statements.
  10. I think that number includes walk-ons too. I know when the portal first started, reporters kept throwing out the total number to shock people without adding the context that a big chunk of the kids in it were just walk-ons looking for a scholarship.
  11. Seriously, us having more transfer credit difficulties with a school in the goddamn UT system than Alabama and LSU is both hilarious and sad.
  12. There was some thought that DeSoto might choose to opt up, but nope, DeSoto is very likely dropping to 5AD1 next year. The District of Doom is no more. They might just be replaced by Lancaster though, so it will still be a great district. Also, Aledo is going to be cutting it really close.
  13. The transfer portal closes one day after the semifinals and before the national championship. Unless there is an exception I don’t know about, I don’t think there’s much of a choice.
  14. And Sark has re-established the pipeline this year anyways. My old man was at SMU during the Pony Express days and had a class with Eric Dickerson. Said he only ever saw him twice, the first day of class and the day of the final. And on the final he turned in his test back to the professor 45 seconds after they were handed out and left.
  15. Much better chance FSU’s defense scores than Louisville’s offense.
  16. I feel bad for Florida State, but the committee has always said their job is to pick the 4 best teams, not the 4 most deserving, and there is no way you can argue that FSU is one of the 4 best teams right now.
  17. No matter what happens later today regarding the playoffs, I’m celebrating because Sark did it, he turned this shit around.
  18. So we could see a Desoto vs Aledo matchup? That would be lovely Aledo would definitely be the the team that would come the closest, but I don’t see them hanging with Desoto either. They’re going to be cutting it close for sure, but I think the cutoff is expected to be a little bit higher this go round.
  19. That’s a final now at that score. Desoto turned in enrollment numbers that clearly places them in 5A next realignment cycle. If they don’t choose to opt up, that’s going to be ugly for everybody else.
  20. Cam Rising is coming back to college next year too, both were in that same class for us. Caden Sterns was also in that class and he will be entering his 4th season in the NFL next year.
  21. We definitely need at least one big time transfer at WR and the kid from South Carolina would be that. I don’t think it’s as dire after that though. Like you said, Cook can be penciled in as a starter, he’d be playing a ton as a true freshman at almost any other program, we just have 3 super upper classmen. And I feel pretty confident that we can find a good #3 between Moore, Niblett, Neyor or Wingo. I’d definitely like to find a decent TE though.
  22. This is just demonstrably false. Swaim was a blocking TE in JuCO too. He only had 11 catches his last year at Butte CC. And he didn’t even play TE in high school. At no point in his life has he been a receiving threat.
  23. Geoff Swaim is in the league because he can block. It’s his 8th year, he’s only had more than 13 catches in a season twice. He’s very good at what he does, but I wouldn’t consider him a threat in the intermediate pass game.
