  1. Have we discussed who says “Creek” and who says “Crick” and whether they have separate meanings or are interchangeable where different posters grew up yet this offseason?

    RIP Melanie

I was a came counselor near Bethel, NY in the summer of 1994. It was the 25th Anniversary of Woodstock and in addition to the “Woodstock ‘94” production of modern music in Saugerties, NY, there was an attempt to have original ‘69 acts play in Bethel at the original location. My day off I went for an hour of two with some other counselors. There were dozens, if not hundreds actually listening to the act on stage. The stage was tiny, the sound system was meager, most people in the area were wandering around looking at stuff being sold at stands and people trying to sell stuff like outside of a Dead show. But… my friend explained that the large woman on stage was named “Melanie” and she used to be attractive and sang at the original Woodstock. And then he said- “And the hot one up there is Melanie’s daughter.” ❤️ MELANIE’S DAUGHTER: Whether it was truly Melanie’s daughter or not, I have no idea, but there was a beautiful leached blonde young lady up on stage who was about 5’8”, tan, slim but curvy, short-shorts, full rack, and was singing along. The daughter was the one who was mesmerizing everyone and I thank Melanie for bringing her into this world, or at least for bringing her to Bethel in 1994. Pure Smoke Show! My cellphone in 1994 didn’t have a camera. Sorry, but no pics.
  3. The visuals on the interior of the Sphere would be next level. Far and away the coolest visuals they will have ever had, because it will be like every seat is practically on the front row. Minds will be blow ! 🤯 PS- If you don’t understand the difference between residency in a single location a few times a week vs shlepping all over the country/ continent/ multiple continents, then I can’t help you. Elton John has also given up “touring”, but I would definitely expect him to continue to perform and could see him at The Sphere.
  4. Shit designs from the ‘90s to the mid-2000s before they fell off a cliff and cheeseballs no longer were paying over $100 for a shit ball graffiti art looking shirt or trucker cap to get photographed by paparazzi in LA.

Please tell me this is a LOAN, not a full transfer. EDIT:
  6. After reading these paragraphs… …I’m left wondering who in the hell was put in charge of estimating the value of these guitars.
  7. Castellanos had 4 goals vs Real Madrid. And the game ended 4-2.
  8. Nearly 2 days and 4 pages of shit posts (and a little solid info) and no one has come up with: Mastur Baker …dropping the ball.
  9. I had not heard of this band or this girl, but have been looking at Gretsch guitars since someone posted the Adorama sale priced “single cut” that was half off. ($299 down from $599) I considered buying that one several times and may in the future if Adorama drops the price again. Being closer to standard retirement age than to college graduation age, when I watched the video yesterday, many judgmental thoughts popped into my head. Initial interest in the guitar quickly waned after the explanation of the fretboard markers. I realize that that says more about me than the person talking about the guitar. Reading the comments below the video had me rolling my eyes and/or shaking my head. I still am interested in a Gretsch someday, especially with a shorter scale length and Filtertrons, but it will be a standard issue rather than a special edition associated with this band. I am gradually becoming a “Get Off My Lawn!” guy and I don’t even have my own lawn.

Fuck Dortmund! Fuck the EPL! Glad that there is no option to buy! Get his ass to It-Lee (pronounced like “Italy, TX” off of I-35E) ASAP!
  11. I don't usually like country music, but this song was kind of catchy. blockquote widget
  12. Agreed. I have got a sneaky suspicion that Pete Townsend is her biological father… if I nose[sic] anything about genetics, but definitely wood.

Batistuta!! How can you not love an Argentine attacking player? And with Gio’s Argentine ancestry, the love in Florence would just keep flowing. Plus, that kit. A friend went to a Fiorentina match with his fiancée a couple of years ago and got kits and I just sent the Gio rumor tweet to him 5 minutes ago letting him know that he may have to get another Fiorentina kit if this goes through. Would be excellent!
  14. Facebook groups to join. Go through and look up subjects you’re interested in before just asking a question that may have been addressed 20-50 times already. 1) Apartment My friends with the sweet apartment have moved on from that pad. -Today he (hopefully) will see if that place may be available. -That place usually is an annual lease and my friends would sublet it for 1-3 months in June-> August. (They cannot sublet their new place.) I do have a friend who manages apartments in the AirBnB realm. She won’t cut any deals, but she also is someone I trust. I will reach out to her after I hear back from my friend about his former apartment. 2) Babysitters: This is not an easy thing to find. Most Argentines either have family watch their kids or their maid stays late to watch their kids. Using the Expat Facebook group would be a good way to find how expats have solved this issue. 3) “Dolar Blue” Start researching foreign exchange rates for cash. There is usually a street rate for cash exchange that is drastically different than the official exchange. Basically, the government restricts the purchase of foreign currencies at banks and the government may drastically change the exchange rate at any time, so locals buy foreign currency on the black market as soon as they get paid. This little custom means that you could get 1.5x to 2.5x the official exchange rate… but some credit cards have started giving the street rate and a new president took power in December and it is all quite confusing.
  15. That fucking freshman cow was asking for it. You can tell by how wet she was…
  16. If you ask me, it appears that Mehlko is a classic “Top Gobbler”. He identifies what he wants and slides in for the gobble.

  19. I used to post lot in that forum from 2007-2012, or so. Used “Napoleon” there too. I think that there is a lot more action on some Facebook closed groups. I will look them up and link them here after I have eaten something. 👍
  20. If I were going to Argentina for 5-6 weeks, I would go from late October to the start of December… Like I did when I went back for 7 weeks in 2015… …after living there for 7 1/2 years (Buenos Aires). ARGIE WINTER: -It’s not harsh, but it is dark & depressing. -Skiing is available. -The Spanish is fucked up and will take a bit to understand the accent, the unexplained choice not to pronounce any “s” going into a consonant nor most “s”s at the end of words. That doesn’t even cover the slang (“lunfardo”) or the words that are inexplicably different than the word in most other Spanish countries. BARRIOS… -You should look at RECOLETA & the various PALERMOs (SoHo, Hollywood, Alto…). And anywhere near embassies (Barrio Norte in addition to those other places.) -You are NOT staying in La Boca. -Sketchy, but okay… San Telmo, Barracas, Boedo, Once, Abasto, Villa Crespo… I would live, or have lived, in the last 3, but I’m a poor. I have also lived in much nicer areas (Palermo Hollywood, Barrio Norte, Recoleta, Jardin Botanico de Palermo, Palermo Zoologico…). You want to stay in a nice area. …Just realized that I may have a place for you. An American couple (with no kids) tend to leave their sweet flat in Palermo SoHo every Buenos Aires winter and try to rent it out. It has a great roof deck with a partially (grill). Send me a PM to remind me to look into it. I’ll post more later.
  21. …oh, and I’m of the “We’ll wait and see.” on the new DL coach hire, but at least we’re not where Michigan is when it comes to defensive hires.
  22. This post didn’t age well. He won a men’s doubles slam before becoming #1. There in lies the shmewww!
  23. This is total horse shit. There is no way!!!… …that a Wolverine alum has a “Texas buddy”.
  24. How has Kris Ross not found a school? I would think that someone would be willing to take a risk on DL talent. Is he going to stick around until he gets his degree?
