  1. You never know. Janice might blurt out the N word on a conference call or something. That may be our best hope, imo.
  2. Maybe they just thought it was insipid.
  3. Owned. In all seriousness, the Texans weren't very good last year (their defense was awful) and aren't likely to be very good this season. I don't know why some in the media are getting peoples hopes up. Ultimately, I don't see this franchise going anywhere until ownership changes.
  4. This show is terrible but also fucking spectacular at times. I love it.
  5. I like Garcia’s delivery and he has major league stuff for sure. This is why it’s insane they aren’t giving Conine, Dubin, and Torres a shot. What harm is there in seeing what they can do given how awful the dregs of the pen are? Also, why was Ivey shut down for the entire season for a positive COVID test in early June?
  6. I'm not sure how hands-on he is with this series, but it certainly has he feel of one of his projects with the whole "the true cosmic evil is racism amirite?"
  7. People may not want to hear this, but I'm afraid to say that Jordan Peele kinda sucks. Get Out was interesting but deploying the same shtick over-and-over in different contexts gets old.

    Cobra Kai

The mom is pretty hot though. I agree that it's hard to suspend belief with respect to the chubby daughter being able to do anything athletically. Overall, this show is some good, dumb fun. Looking forward to season three.
  9. I came into this wanting to enjoy it and liking the concept behind it, but this show a fucking disaster lmao.
  10. The Astros are going to win.
  11. Time to bring De Jong out again.
  12. I don’t blame them for not making any movies. However, for the life of me, I cannot understand why they keep putting Castellanos out there considering their other options internally. His breaking pitches hardly break and his best pitch is a 90 mph sinker.
  13. I would be surprised if Click is in over his head. He was VP for baseball ops with the Rays, one of the best orgs in baseball, for three years before being hired here. I'm not expecting him to be as proactive and as creative as Luhnow in his management of the org but he should be at least competent.
  14. They should have signed someone to replace Harris in the off-season, but the replacing the GM thing got in the way. I don't really have a problem with Click wasting one or more of the farm arms for a mediocre reliever or two which wouldn't have solved anything anyways. I do not understand, however, why they keep going back to Castellanos and De Jong as the last options in the pen when Conine, Dubin, and Torres are supposedly in Corpus. Ivey is another one who could be useful but I'm not sure what he's up to these days. None of those guys are good enough prospects to make it worth playing games with their service time but each has better stuff than Castellanos for sure. Why not cycle through all of these guys and see what they can do when its blindingly obvious the bottom 3-4 pitchers in the pen are about as effective as your typical position player pitching?
  15. Maybe I could have been more diplomatic but sorry that’s just how I see things. There are wars where one side is the clear instigator and perpetrator thereof and for reasons which are manifestly unjust. In those occasions, why should we treat participants on our (the bad side) with any reverence whatsoever? I get not ascribing culpability to draftees or even enlistees to which the armed forces offered opportunities that were otherwise unavailable. However, the subject of this conversation is not one of those cases, and he’s someone who didn’t need to fight in that war to have the opportunity live a full, meaningful life.
  16. I love how this term has been redefined on this board as meaning “stuff I don’t like.”
  17. I know it's not a perfect comparison as I'm sure as the Spanish nationalists surely had much broader support among the Spaniards than the "Republic of Vietnam" had among the Vietnamese.
  18. I think we should have at least the ability to have honest conversations about these matters without immediately retreating to the safe harbor of ideology. I think it's clearly unhealthy for what bills itself as a Republic to be incapable of having those conversations and that inability provides cover for some truly awful things that the good people of our country would not otherwise stomach.
  19. I understand sympathizing with WWI conscripts who had no choice in the matter, but what's wrong with Trump calling McCain a loser? He wasn't drafted and he committed God knows what atrocities against those poor people. Honoring that bullshit would be like Germans memorializing veterans of the Condor Legion. Imagine them getting pissed because someone dishonored the memory of some dipshit who crashed his plane outside of Guernica lmao.
  20. If you don’t see a problem with the Republicans becoming the party of workers and what that foreshadows then you must not have a handle on much of anything.
  21. lol so the guy who killed the Trumper is ex-military and was doing sheets of acid in the past few months? Shit screams CIA op.
