  1. Would you say you will have a plethora of shirts?
  2. Also, while we've already kicked the dead Mr. apley a few times, this tweet is pretty delicious.
  3. apparently this asshole is still technically alive.
  4. This is never popular on a Texas board, and I'm not going to argue it. But if you feel helpless about it all, maybe personal change is the one thing you can control. Reduce your meat consumption, folks. Not telling you to go vegan. But maybe try a meatless Monday or two, and go from there. Maybe in the long run it makes no difference. But maybe in your life it helps you feel like you're actually doing something to help.
  5. So, probably not the place to say this, but I had to give up on the rest of the politics news, as I don't ever believe it gets better. I do think we're on a downward spiral, that the duopoly that controls the US is, while very powerful, too short sighted to even keep the peasantry afloat. And while the only real answer is an ugly revolution, I don't think that happens in my lifetime. And if it did, it would be squashed pretty fast. (see the BLM protests and what in actuality has taken place since). In short, we're heading for some sad combo of China and Brazil, imo. And yes, a good chunk of the lemmings are cheering and shooting the rod at their fellow mammals while the gleefully jump off the cliff. Sadly my only answer is make a difference locally, as much as one can. And taking time to enjoy whatever you enjoy that's non-political. It seems from out here that Austin has had a mild summer, compared to many summers in the past. Surely that's a good thing. Sports, even if our baseball team (the Mariners) sucks, can be a nice distraction. I know you have some good hiking experiences. When you're felling better, perhaps time to enjoy those while you can. My take on the environment is I'm of course sad about it, so I try to get out and enjoy it as often as I can. Hang in there buddy. We're all in this together (except for ant-vaxxers, fuck them).
  6. This is awful and fantastic. It should be the site motto.

  8. Oregon mandated masks for schools this fall a while back. Sorry for those dealing with Abbott in Texas, what a shitshow.
  9. Was driving back through Sisters OR yesterday. For Texans think Fredericksburg. Real similar vibe. One main road through town which jams up with both tourists and locals trying to get through. Saw a jackaass with a home made sign on the side of the road at one of the slowing down points. I thought it was going to be something like “out of work need food.” Instead the sign has “97 percent survival rate” and “sheeple” on it. Couldn’t make out the rest. The local and only big hospital around here is telling stories like Trauma Babe had posted. And this idiot with his sign thinks he is doing something worthwhile. I sure hope he catches it, I really do.
  10. Had to listen to last inning as I was on the road. Hey, we didn’t get swept!
  11. Yeah, fuck you, blue.
  12. Bases loaded with 3-2 count and blue calls an obvious ball a strike. The Yankees don’t need help, ump.
  13. Bad joke attempt aside, apparently Rizzo wasn’t vaccinated.
  14. Rizzo tested positive for Yankees-19, errr Covid and is now on IL.
  15. I get it’s all a dog and pony show, but this man should be charged with murder. You don’t have to like team blue, but if you support this man you outright support murder.
  16. Loaisiga has some nasty stuff. Chapman to IL is a boon for NYY. Yankees win.
  17. I read he was bad on the Astros, but so far Joe Smith has pitched well for the M’s.
  18. Was wondering. Went from 4-1 to 5-4 in a jiffy.
  19. Missed most of this one so far. Not looking great, but not completely out of it yet
  20. The water. It is wet. https://apnews.com/article/health-coronavirus-pandemic-32617c0cb852301b4bfed849e207baad

  22. From a Reddit post in an Oregon subreddit. Vaccines saving lives if only you are not stupid enough to refuse them: OHA has released their statewide breakthrough cases report (how many vaccinated ppl tested positive) for July: https://www.oregon.gov/oha/covid19/Documents/DataReports/Breakthrough-Report-08-2021.pdf Some highlights from my POV: • 19% of positive cases from July were vaccinated folks (aka 81% unvaccinated) • "More than 9 in 10 severe cases of COVID requiring hospitalization or resulting in death have occurred in individuals who are not vaccinated." • 91% of deaths were unvaccinated folks • Deschutes Co had 257 breakthrough cases in July. So, ~0.002% of the vaccinated population tested positive for a breakthrough case last month • Only 27% of breakthrough cases statewide have occurred in individuals >65 years old. Median age is 51.
  23. Toro The Man drives in our first RBI of the night. 1-0 Mariners.
  24. Marco is dealing! (unfortunately, so is NYY's bullpen so far).
