  1. You almost got the full picture. The FRN's legal tender monopoly is just one of the issues. Currently gold and silver are treated as commodities - subject to sales and capital gains taxes. The legislation would remove those barriers and allow gold and silver to function as money in concert with the FRN (as opposed to pegged to the FRN) The practical effect of Gresham's Law would serve as a de facto restriction on central bank malfeasance (devaluation of the dollar or inflation) while also providing us plebes an honest alternative for saving/storing wealth without counterparty risk.

Kept guessing at bottom left and watching available letters disappear from the board. That sucked.

  4. I just realized that the link to the pmbug for the Ron Paul Competing Currencies bill is in the Politics forum which has been hidden from guests (search engines) and only visible to logged in members. Sorry about that. Here's some direct links for those interested... 5. The site has been invaded by a lot of peeps that fit that description. It's been a slog to set an expectation for intellectual honesty in discussions. [serious].
  6. I guess it was on the old site (or maybe all the way back on HF) where I had started a thread on this subject, but I have talked about it tangentially in other threads over the years. Ron Paul used to introduce legislation session after session for a competing currencies bill. You can find details on it here: Ron Paul's competing currencies bill I remember discussing the issue with @Bozo_Casanova and others, but it was all abstract or theoretical. Now there is a real world case of it in action (sort of). I somehow missed this story up until now... 8. I stumbled upon Superbros last night. Australian comedy series. It's wacky, demented, foul and fresh. Episode 2 had me legit lol. 20 min episodes, so it's not a huge time investment.
  9. No. I posted the article because the extreme distortion in wealth inequality growth due to central bank policies is a visceral example of problems with the monetary system.
  10. I don't think it's a spoiler to mention that the story is really about the relationship that developes between Joel and Ellie through their journey together. It may take place in a now familiar zombie world environment, but the show is really about something more basic and human. The video game pushed the bounds of the genre by immersing players in a story with real/believable characters. The journey has action, suspense and such, but it's the well developed characters that really give it gravitas.

  14. Highly recommended that you avoid reading story spoilers.
  15. Following the story from the game closely. Casting choices working. Great start.
  16. Last of Us is excellent. Looks like they are following the story from the game closely. Casting choices looking good too.
  17. Fusion v Emulsifier and MadCatter v Whiplash were fun fights to watch. Several judges decisions tonight, but they didn't show score cards for the decisions (boo!). I was really curious about one of them. Jamison Go from team Sawblaze joined the booth for the Madcatter v Whiplash fight and had some fun but he was being too polite to give us some real thoughts/analysis. * last night I guess, but I watched it tonight...
  18. Huh? Do you folks not know what the word germane means? Or are you trying to be snarky in asserting that a letter regarding the origin of covid isn't on topic for a thread about the origin of covid?
  19. I tested the unclickable area while viewing a different thread/page and while the window was maximized. The width of the unclickable area was slightly larger than when the window was normal (manually sized and smaller). The unclickable area started at the same position, but extended down past the last post in the thread. The unclickable area appears to have a width that is related to the width of the browser window. The height doesn't appear to be fixed, but I'm not sure what is being factored into it's height.
