  1. but is it though? i believe, based on the flop of pt 1, that the rest are in jeopardy. he lost a good chunk of his own personal money on this.
  2. but you serve gumbo over rice, so in the end....? am i gathering correctly that the main difference is the amount of stock?
  3. we've sucked at defense for a long time. i'm with codaxx on this one, and am not normally a koolaid partaker. i feel good about this. yes, there was turnover in the secondary, and front line, but the guys we got i feel good about. the secondary i have no clue if they can cover but i know they can hit. that will be an improvement. we wont be as stout and plug holes on the line like last year, but we will be better off the edge.
  4. so if the difference between pasta and macaroni is eight bucks, whats the differrence between gumbo and jambalaya? i'm thinking about making a jambalaya for our first game in two weeks. i'm thinking shrimp, crab, and andouille sausage. theres a possibility some duck might go in. i have a problem with editing so could easily kitchensink this bitch.
  5. you know you're in the weeds when you're getting posting tips from futureman.
  6. you're right. there probably isnt a sweet spot, but 10 yrs seems to be about right in my experience. i agree on bookers - its loaded with flavors and richness and complexity, and is darker in color at 6 yrs than mckenna is at 10. the noe's say 6-8 is the sweet spot, harlan wheatley says 8-12.
  7. never got the still love thats out there, but to each his own.
  8. its a gluttony of riches out there for bourbon lovers. you can walk out of a liquor store empty-handed that has 3000 bottles of bourbon on the shelf and say they had nothing. old grand dad is another one. its not that they arent good bourbons, or that i dont like them, just the luxury of being selective and looking for something better.
  9. lets agree to disagree. their bib is about 4 yrs old. i believe 10 yrs is the sweet spot for all bourbons, and would compare it to russells 10 (maybe not quite as good), or eagle rare 10 (definitely not as good). those are all around the same price point. the ewbib is about half that price so agree on the value at least. now heaven hills old fitz, at 10 yrs, thats a steal at double the price of the mckenna.
  10. i have had maple syrup mold in my pantry. it stays in the fridge now.
  11. hank and willie are half of the mt rushmore, and they are etched in stone (so to speak). i'm not sure i'd put dolly up there, or cash or kris or waylon, or cindy walker. of those, dolly would be the highest rated. possibly george jones, but i'm thinking bob wills has to be third. bill monroe or jimmie rodgers are fighting for fourth. that leaves out so many good ones - lefty frizzell, ray price, merle, loretta lynn, tammy wynette, roy acuff, kitty wells, merle, etc.
  12. either. any creamy mexican cheese - not the crumbly one.
  13. Mark Katz agrees with your stellar logic.

  15. i thought that rhynaera sent her there with dragon eggs to appease them because they were promised a dragon. maybe i misinterpreted but i thought it was a question of suspicion since she noticed they had a dragon already. agree that daemon and corlys stories are stagnant. they have done nothing all season. lets get the show on the road already.
  16. Did not like: moonlight avatar: way of water everything everywhere all at once the academy let me down with those three
  17. was originally on showtime, i think. loved the series. something very pleasing about ewan mcgregors acting, and his wife is fantastic too. the character ewan played was such a good person, uplifting and always positive.
  18. all those prices are way too high. great bourbon, but almost double msrp. eagle rare is the best value on that list, but the bookers would be tempting. you see a lot more eagle rare out there than bookers.
  19. finebaum is a douche. even lowell galindo is less irritating.
  20. Never knew it as a restaurant, or as a city draw as a restaurant. The commercials seemed as failed attempts to make it so. It was used for student housing in 82 as overflow for overbooked jester residents.
  21. dont remember harvey's heros. i do remember texadelphia wasnt there when i first started at ut in '82, but had no clue what was there.
  22. the california burger, with sprouts and avocado was a top 10 burger of austin all time. belongs in the austin burger hall of fame. i could never afford the shakes. hell i probably never even bought a drink there. i was a poor college student but i was happy. the problem mad dogs had was texadelphia was about a block away and i probably liked it better, and then there's gm steakhouse, just up from that. in my opinon the alltime greatest austin burger ever made. #1 in the austin burger hall of fame.
  23. lets not lament one chain restaurant closing and being replaced with another chain restaurant.
  24. has everybody in town eaten a charcuterie board off his wife's ass?
