Did she grow up with a Dad around? If so, this is on him.

You're in a topic about women that don't think critically, don't remember shit and don't listen...yet you think it's my fault that my 2 daughters don't remember the shit that I told them? Fuck that, I did my part.

As I have told them many times: I have given you the information. What you choose to do with it is up to you.

Hikers in the US have found human remains near the area where British actor Julian Sands disappeared.

Identification should be completed next week, the San Bernardino County sheriff's department in south California said on Saturday.

Sands, 65, disappeared on 13 January while hiking in the San Gabriel Mountains, north of Los Angeles.

He is best known for his roles in the Oscar-winning film A Room With A View, and the TV dramas 24 and Smallville.

His other credits included 2011's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, in which he appeared opposite Daniel Craig.

Sands, born in Otley, West Yorkshire, disappeared in the Baldy Bowl area during bad weather.

"Civilian hikers contacted the Fontana Sheriff's Station after they discovered human remains in the Mt Baldy wilderness," the sheriff's department said.

The statement gave no other details.

Sands's family issued a statement early this week expressing gratitude "to the search teams and coordinators who have worked tirelessly to find Julian".

"We continue to hold Julian in our hearts with bright memories of him as a wonderful father, husband, explorer, lover of the natural world and the arts, and as an original and collaborative performer," they said.

I always loved "Warlock". Need to watch it again.

  3. Nowadays when you go to a funeral, there's a cheesy highlight video with some stupid modern country music bullshit playing. My sister did that for her beloved husband and when someone said to her "I didn't think he liked country" She said "Oh, he didn't really", which I thought was fucked up (I said nothing).

But it made me wonder. Am I supposed to tell my wife to play whatever she wants? I don't want people to think I was a fan of Jason Aldean or one of those other jerkoffs. However, I also realize that playing "Blitzkrieg" by Metallica isn't exactly what you'd call a remembrance tune.

I mean, are you like 6’6”+? I’m 6’2” and drive a Fit. I’ve been in the back of them and never had an issue. Great vehicles, they are much roomier than ostensibly bigger cars.

I'm 6'6 and no, I can't fit in the back of my friend's Fit. But I can fit behind the wheel of my GTI. Just don't look at me when I'm trying to get inside.

  5. There's a bakery near my office, been there for 75+ years. They announced that they're closing their doors next month. The 4th gen owner said he's done. I don't go there every day but it was so nice to have a place that I could stop in real quick and grab breakfast on a friday. Fuck.

Pretty solid overview video from a 20yr USN nuclear sub sonar operator

Not many lulz, but super informative for the ins and outs and whathaveyous for design, construction, and safety of this boondoggle.

Sidenote, this has gotta be a point for the "we're in a simulation" crowd right? The fucking company is named "OceanGate" like some goddamn easy bake news headline

I haven't watched the video yet, but if that's him in the bottom left corner, then he looks exactly how I imagine a 20yr USN nuclear sub sonar operator would look.

Who doesn't like surprise titties and ass on the internet???? Good looking ones, I mean.

  8. About 10 years or so ago, I had a guy come to my office to get his paperwork done to go overseas and get married. He was a clean cut guy, very friendly but kind of came off as a nerd, but the kind of nerd you don't mind being friends with, if that makes any sense. A dork that you wouldn't mind having a beer with. He was also short, hair thinning. I think he was in his early-mid 40s. He seemed pretty smart and he obviously had a good job becasue he could afford to pay for all of this shit.

The worst part was just how OPEN he was about it. He didn't need to tell me why he was going to Viet Nam but he just blurted it out, "Can you believe I have to go to Viet Nam to find a wife???". He wasn't mad, rather he was poking fun at himself. I just said "hey, uh, you know" and looked away. Maybe he just got tired of striking out with the women here, maybe he was a huge pice of shit. Personally, I think he was autistic and couldn't make connections with women. Maybe the language barrier will help him.

  9. We got a letter from the IRS yesterday, telling us there was an issue with our tax return. They already cashed the check, so I don't know what else they wanted but I said we need to call our tax lady, who is an old family friend of my wife's. My wife is off today, so she went down to the tax lady's office to get it figured out. After an hour, she texts me to say "Can you find the envelope with last year's taxes? I need to know about the 1040". I'm like oh shit, I wonder what's up. I grab everything and get the forms out and text her, saying it's all in front of me, what info do you need? Her reply was "Oh, I don't need anything, Just wanted to make sure we had it".

Now it seems that everyone will get their share of the blood money. I wonder if any will turn it down?

Golf’s Saudi investors are planning a compensation fund for players such as Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm who stayed loyal to the PGA Tour and missed out on hundreds of millions of dollars to join the breakaway LIV competition.

The move follows last week’s peace deal in which Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) will effectively bankroll the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour via a new joint venture.

The plan would allow players such as Phil Mickelson, Lee Westwood and Sergio García to keep the money they were paid to join LIV Golf but would also hand leading players on the PGA Tour substantial payments from the new entity to “level up” their financial rewards, according to a source with knowledge of the proposal.

The amount of money the players would receive has not yet been determined, and players preparing for this week’s US Open still do not have any details of how the new partnership will work or how it will shape the tour.

i hit Rule of 80 at 49... my first visit to ERS, when they showed me my potential take home, i was like 'what?! how is that figure even possible??' 😮

he told me i was a 'unicorn' lol - not too many folks started when they were still teenagers and continue uninterrupted.

they don't offer the kind of package/security to keep people anymore... and it shows in recruiting, retention and quality of state employees. by design, of course. oh well, FAFO 🤨

Here in OK, they changed the rule from 80 to 90, back in the early 90s. I didn't start until 2008 so I'm not done till 62. My goal is to buy a couple of years of service and retire at 60. But that depends on how easy my job is at that point.

Here's a unicorn for you: My old boss retired after 50 years of service. She was on the rule of 80 but OK has a provision that if you keep working past your rule time, you get a 4% yearly increase on your retirement for every year you go over. She was 20 years past her rule of 80, so she's making bank. Of course the downside is that she didn't retire until age 70 and her health is in the shitter. She admitted to someone that she should have left years ago. Fuck working here for 50 years IMO.

    Wife's presumed username checks out.

I would say that she needs extra sleep because she's tired from always pouring out her to-go drinks that she brings home from restaurants but never finishes, but I'm the one who does it.

as Texans and Okies watch college football, the viewership for the new Big 12 will be pretty good

Every shit-eating ou fan I know likes to drop the old "Ah alwayz root fer OSU when they ain't playin' Oh-Yew!" any time bedlam comes up in discussion. So I guess that means we're bound for huge Neilson numbers. Or whatever they use now.

First paired in 2009, Verrett and Everett made magic together, forming one of the great SportsCenter duos of all-time.

there’s something to be said for the on-air bond Verrett and Everett shared for so many years. Viewers will miss their easy chemistry as late-night co-conspirators, kindred spirits who made reading highlights fun.

I've got nothing against either of these guys but how much "magic" could there have been? I know who each of them are, individually. No idea they did SC together.
