  1. Rough offense execution so far
  2. I don't think you can put too much weight into a game 1 loss against a Power5 opponent in the portal day and age where 6 of your top 8 players are new guys every year. The warning signs for Rodney will be: getting embarrassed by scrub teams we play in the pre-season; finishing in the bottom 1/2 to 2/3 of the conference standings; failing to make the NCAA tourney or consistently being on the bubble hoping for other teams to lose to make it in; and/or not showing the ability to correct and coach up fixable problems [like defensive rotations] from game to game (preferably from half to half).
  3. those are solid coaches... I like the guy at Arizona as well.
  4. The ugliness of the portal era is trying to get puzzle pieces from different systems, many of whom were role players who now expect more minutes and freedom to get their shots ups, to gel with one another and the system as quickly as possible. There will be growing/gelling pains. The coaches who are elite at evaluating personnel, drilling fundamentals and details, and getting a few good offensive sets in place with lots of options seem to rise above the bell curve early in the season. And, the coaches who can adjust well in-game, add some new wrinkles on offense each week, and establish a good 8-to-9-man rotation seem to excel later. With so many big guards / small forwards on the roster, Terry will need to figure out fast how to get other players open for a good look / drive when our opponents double up on Johnson. I think that will entail a lot of off-the-ball activity rather than just running the pick and roll action with everyone else camped outside the 3 point line. We have a lot of interchangeable parts outside Johnson, Mark and to a much lesser extent Shed who will need some heavy coaching and show some heavy effort on the defensive side before they get heavy minutes and the green light to get their shots up.
  5. Need something from Shedrick and Onyema… would like to see Larry and Kent get some run since they’ve played on a good team together
  6. Looks more likely that Weigman is portal bait after yet another dud with the backup steeping in and showing some life
  7. Bolden is the #3 punt returner in the ncaa this year… he does take risks but he ain’t chopped liver
  8. voted at the Fair Oaks Ranch PD (where Kendall and Bexar Counties meet) yesterday... took about 2 hours to get it done.... First time I've ever seen a presidential election voting site with ZERO signs for any candidate who was not Republican.
  9. I am anxious to see the horns come out aggressive and focused. Want the days of Mack Brown's "it's like playing your best friend" soft serve to be cleansed with us cracking some helmets.
  10. Weigman has a resting concussed face
  11. Further discussion?
  12. Maybe he’s the voice of ULM now… if so, I think that’s a great spot for him if his office is upwind from the paper mill in Monroe.
  13. So fucking deep at WR
  14. Announcers off to a rough start
  15. Take your finger off the trigger… it’s gonna be alright!
  16. Are there any players for the Roadrunners who could compete for a starting job or get 25+ snaps a game with the Horns?
  17. The implosion begins….
  18. Looks like both both teams adopted the Iowa offense from last year
  19. something like 35-7 or 35-10 nearing the 4th quarter before we completely open the depth chart. My guess is final score will be something like 42/45 to 17.
  20. RT definitely took longer than I'd ilke to give Weaver the minutes he earned and continued to lean on a dud (Horton) with hopes that his one or two high scoring games were the norm rather than the exception. Weaver was a major contributor even when he was not scoring points.
  21. Yes… even free agent pro players stick with a team longer than college mercenaries nowadays
  22. It's probably the glass half empty side of me, but when I think of Doj, my mind always thinks of how poor his outside shooting and free throw shooting was for a guard. There were times when the other team could basically not defend him outside the paint or hack him on drives late in the game. I imagine he became a better shooter during his pro career and like having him as a team mentor for his experience in that regard, but as a Texas guard, I can't recall him doing anything that made me think he was anything more than a backup, role player who couldn't shoot the ball.
  23. If shedrick can stay relatively healthy and codie, pryor and/or vinson can provide a handful of meaningful lunchpail minutes a game defending and rebounding, this team could exceed what are already positive expectations. This is a very deep team and RT has no excuse having to ride with a guy having a shitty game. He will need to get a lot of guys on the court against the scrub teams to let them get acclimated and mentally ready to answer the call during conference play.
  24. We might have a couple guys on the roster we can do occasional ISO plays with, but that should be the situational/match-up, limited exception not the primary gameplan.
