  1. Friend of mine in LA has one. It's badass. Also enjoy the toilet game in Japan. First thing we did upon our return back home was upgrade our average water and wand bidet to a full-on heat / dry / variable setting bidet. or a country that seems to relish sleeping on the floor with buckwheat pillows, they sure know how to make a toilet.
  2. Surly is incredible. You can go literally anywhere, at any time, and some people choose Galveston, seeing The Bee Gees, or heading back to the 1980s. Hey guys, I listened to the Bee Gees in the 1980s while in Galveston, and I can tell you that your return on investment for any of those is going to be really, really low. Observing Jesus or Mohammad? Watching the I Have a Dream speech or the Gettysburg Address? Witnessing the first flight, the construction of the pyramids, or ceremonies at Incan temples? Landing on the fucking moon? Nah, bro, I'm good, take me to Galveston.
  3. I have never seen him without a 5-neck guitar 🤣
  4. Jerry Reed is a legend. Certified badass fingerpicker on the guitar, multiple gold records, songwriter for Elvis and so many others. Also guest appearances on Mama's Family and Scooby-Doo to round out the resume.
  5. Had no idea about Jackie Fox. Just read her wiki page and what a wild life -- in the Runaways, contestant on Jeopardy, the Dating Game, and Millionaire, and got her JD at Harvard in the same class as Barack Obama.
  6. I listen to Weird Al for the music. Lyrics, not so much.
  7. Worked at the FEC through undergrad. Loved working there, from being an usher to working security to being in the front office. The whole place was a blast and the people were cool to work with. Best times were when big shows would roll in -- you could meet the performers if you knew where to be when. I was never obnoxious about it, but I wasn't going to miss a chance to meet people. The best memories are shaking Stevie Ray's hand and working security outside of Van Halen's dressing room. Met all of them, they were all super cool, and Eddie warmed up for the show right in front of me. Thanks FEC for letting me meet and hang with my two guitar heroes.
  8. Without going CR, does anyone have context for the bank photographer video? I can't tell why the dude was filming in the first place.
  9. I'll add that if she's considering HRT, she needs to see someone that is knowledgeable and supportive about it. My wife went to her primary care doc -- a female in her 30s -- who basically told her to just deal with the symptoms because she doesn't believe in HRT and that menopause isn't such a big deal. What a fucking joke. Try dealing with two hours of sleep a night and hot flashes pouring sweat every 30 minutes, you fucking rube. So my wife dropped her and found a local HRT specialist. Things have turned around a ton (much better sleep, very few hot flashes, libido back to normal) but the biggest thing for her was being able to talk to someone who took her seriously and didn't make her feel like a whiny irritant. She also found this article validating: https://www.everydayhealth.com/menopause/menopausal-women-arent-crazy-theyre-just-often-gaslit/
  10. Surly never disappoints. Which act had the most worldwide fame, played the first stadium show due to unprecedented demand for tickets, had every album release go to #1, had the largest TV audience for a musical act ever, stopped flights and traffic because of crowd size, held the top 5 spots on the singles chart in the same week, was the measuring stick for every musical act during and since their run, and still has new media content about them being released every year to huge audiences? Nah, it's probably Elvis or Michael.
  11. This has probably been covered plenty of times here, but U2 at the Sphere was a mind-melting experience. Just unreal. IMG_6061.MOV
  12. IDGAF. I have my tickets to the Def Leppard / Journey / Cheap Trick show this summer and I can't wait. Wife will be drunk and ready to party to hair metal, power ballads, sweet keyboard solos, and kick ass dirty 70s rock and roll (courtesy of Cheap Trick). You're all jealous, you just don't know it.
  13. Saw Brian Wilson tour with Rodriguez about 10 years ago. Incredible. His musical catalog is already unparalleled, but his back story makes the music all the more amazing.
  14. Fuck you for not only insulting one of the greatest American songwriters ever, but also for insulting anyone with either a major mental illness or dementia.
