  1. I don't want his mom to die of a preventable disease either. Or anybody's mom, for that matter. Does that sound selfish? Fascinating.
  2. I forgot about the go-kart hijinks. I had a pretty great go-kart out in what were then the boonies at Lake Travis. Dirt roads everywhere. We figured out we could put a stick into the connector between the accelerator and the carburetor so that the go-kart would go even faster then if the accelerator were floored. Basically just using the connector as our gas pedal. Pretty safe to be reaching behind you to control speed with one hand while trying to steer that contraption faster than it was engineered to go with the other hand. Not surprisingly we rammed that go-kart into more cedar trees and ditches than I could count, usually with us flying ass over teakettle like crash test dummies. When that got boring we decided it would be extra awesome to chunk rocks at the drivers as they passed by. I don't think I need to describe what happened as a result, but the go-kart quickly acquired the taste for blood. Damn, life was awesome at that age.
  3. My nomination is electronic registration for damn near everything. Seems like I'm always having to register on some new site or app to get info that I used to get without a hassle. You want to pay for your kid's school lunch? We don't take cash and don't do checks. Use the app. You want to pay me for babysitting? Just Venmo me. You want to buy a hammer? Give me your email address and I'll just enter you into our system... I was traveling recently and wanted to get tickets for a national park. If it were only that easy. First you create your account profile, then you link it to your card, then they verify you, then you verify your password, blah blah blah. I just wanted to go hiking.
  4. Just because you don't understand science doesn't mean it isn't real. I could give two fucks about people who want to "feel safe." I had a bad case of the rona and got vaccinated -- I'm feeling pretty damn good about my own safety, regardless of how many unvaccinated dipshits surround me. But when unvaccinated people fuck up life for the rest of us, then yeah I get pretty salty. You get vaccinated for two reasons: to keep yourself from getting sick and to get our country back. Remember patriotism?
  5. It will be refreshing to roll out a bench that has some equally strong players as our starting five. As well as a coach that understands how to make adjustments so that rotating players can maximize their impact.
  6. Exactly -- I had to go back and re-read the posts as I figured I must have read it wrong. That's bonkers. Chris Beard has put us right into the very top of the national CBB conversation. Incredible!
  7. No one. But why let logic and facts get involved with this?
  8. This post rivals the "Unless he committed to Oklahoma freakshow, and I am the idoit" post in its elegance.
  9. rep not just for the story but mostly for the proper spelling of "duct tape"
  10. Back in the old days, Lakeway was a sleepy retirement area with a very small police force. We entertained ourselves by heading up to the golf course pro shop at night (up on the hill, visible from a long distance), throwing a bunch of dry trees or whatever would burn into the dumpster, setting it on fire, and then waiting for the police to come so we could run from them into the various woods and yards surrounding the pro shop. One time we had the great idea to use model airplane / model rocket fuel to create a "tunnel of fire" in one of the golf cart paths that went under a road. We sprayed the fuel all around the circular tunnel but it inevitably rained down on us from the ceiling and curved walls. But undeterred and stupid as we were, we ignited the fuel anyway. It never created the tunnel of fire that we envisioned but did manage to set our friend Dave's legs on fire.
  11. Me and the old lady are gonna try that swamp squeeze maneuver real soon
  12. agreed on all posts going forward!
  13. I've said this before -- I don't care what your political beliefs are. If you attempt to enter the Capitol building with intent to harm people, destroy property, or obstruct the democratic process you should be shot right then and there. Proud Boys, Antifa, whoever.
  14. The mom is the problem and will cause immeasurable problems as long as she lives.
  15. I'm all for celebrating any sort of win or recognition for Texas, but as someone else posted previously, an athletic competition in which Stanford wins 26 of 28 times sorta seems like bullshit.
  16. Football really does drive the public's perception of athletics at Texas, but I totally agree with you. Our recent coaching upgrades for major sports are all impressive (especially for assistant coaches and recruiting), and Texas already destroyed national competition in many other sports this year. Things do feel brighter...but we wait for fall.
