  1. 4 QBs in the first 10 picks? I'm well known to be an idiot and certainly not an NFL draft guru, but isn't that a massive number of QBs in the first 10 picks? 2024 (5 in first 10) is the only year I found 4 or more in the first 10 picks going back to 1980 but again, my search skills suck.
  2. There are a few really good ones, but fuck is it difficult to sort them among all the chaff.
  3. You tell me that seeing Kreul in an Ousux headband, sportin' a mullet and tossing a Neenja star wouldn't make you think Krull.. I call you a liar to your face.
  4. It's not particularly relevant to this show or case, and probably belongs elsewhere but it ties in at least. Homicide detectives are measured on their close rate, just like anyone in sales. So, I'm going to use that as an analogy. (Please note this is gross oversimplification) You have, broadly speaking, generally 3 types of sales folks. You have longer term relationship builders that get a few big accounts and successfully milk them (relational), you have the grinder/closers that are always building their pipeline through networking, cold calls, referrals (grinders), pressure sales and some luck, then you have the guys that manipulate the system through a lot of different ways and coast until they are uncovered (weasels). (There is the rare relational grinder but they are absolutely the exception) You find the same in detectives. The relational tend to use existing contacts, spend time and move a little slower. Grinders tend to find a ton of possible suspects, pound pavement and investigate tons of leads. Then you have weasels that are, essentially just trying to pin it on the easiest culprit and will use immoral and often illegal tactics to "close the deal". They tend to be boastful and full of shit. Here's the thing, its not limited to Homicide detectives nor city/state but expands to federal. If you're ever called for questioning, get a lawyer, 100% of the time.
  5. I thought it was goofy, pretty stupid and funny as hell at a few point. I still don't know why the line by Grubbs' son: "Of course I'm never coming back you fine ass English Hill billy" killed me. Reggie Bush and Eminem cameos were fun. I also get not liking it, but don't get hating it at all.
  6. I quit on it. Not enough hate to fuel me and too predictable to keep my curiosity. Sucked!
  7. I said way up thread Kreul gave me the Krull vibes. If he starts wearing a mullet and throwing NeenJah stars all will be right with the world.
  8. I'm arguing with @Had Enough that we agree. Also, I'm admitting some personal preferences in my dating choices, but in a subdued manner. So, I'm not really sure.
  9. This thread has really gone potatoes up with all the veggie puns.
  10. Well put yes, that and reliving the John Mackovic era is bringing me fucking down.
  11. No man, you seem to continue to miss MY fucking point. Which is, when a player gets the nod over another in a starting position or a position, it does NOT necessarily mean the that player is more or less capable. There are lots of factors at play. Hence, just because Arch didn't get the nod over Ewers doesn't mean Arch is less capable than Ewers. Further, it was initially just a talking point when someone brought up Sanders and Thurman as a comparison that happened at UT. Seeing as this is a UT board I thought it relevant. Dunno why that concept is so difficult and not sure why we are arguing it as it appears you are agreeing with me. But by all means have the last word, I'm moving on.
  12. True, but some stupidity has a much higher chance of collateral damage in the fix.
  13. Right, you're correct. I used carries when I should have used touches. Semantics. The fact remains, in 1995 Shon Mitchell had equal touches to both Ricky Williams and Priest Holmes, combined. Both of who were superior running backs to Shon Mitchell. But Shon was running back and Ricky being used as a FB. The point of the entire discussion was backups being better than starters. Its was just a simple comparison point when Thurman and Sanders were brought up. This place will argue about any fucking thing.
  14. If you can find video of the Hawaii game early in season I think you'd disagree with your take on Ricky's ability as a freshman. He was the highest rated RB in the nation before he got here iirc and he was killing it. Just know you are now arguing on behalf on the vision of John Mackovic. while I argue agaist. Let that sink in.
  15. Yeah I discussed the same topic in another thread. I had forgotten Priest's injuries and wasn't hating on Shon Mitchell. The point was that just because someone wasn't first team doesn't mean they weren't a superior athlete to those starting in front of them. Ricky played as a FB the entire year and the majority of his carries, iirc, were later in the games. Shon was a very capable and good RB at 6.2 ypc, but I don't think anyone would argue that Shon was better than Preist (injury)or Ricky (coaching choice).
  16. That absolutely sounds like a perfect excuse to throw a flag and review with excessive amounts of subjectivity. If there is a loose ball, aren't there, pretty much, 22 players trying to recover it? Okay, maybe it's only 10, 5 and 5 from each team. Who is "trying to recover it"? What is an infraction? Reaching for the ball? Diving for the ball? This will cost a team a game this year and cause controversy, just hope it isn't Texas.
  17. Ricky was blocking a lot more than running the ball as a full back. I'm not pooping on Shon Mitchell, he was averging 6.2 ypc, and, in fact, I was dating someone who was related to him for a minute. I had forgotten about Priest's injury. The point was less a condemnation of Shon and more to the point that the backup player can be way better despite being "second string" or getting less play for a variety of reasons. Your addition only reinforced that reality. Additionally, I still think Preist/Ricky rivals Sanders/Thurman as the 2 best college RBs on a team at the same time in college football. In fairness, Reggie Bush and Lendale White round out the top 3. Oh... while looking at stats I also caught this highlighted performance. Memories!
  18. I am reposting this stat from another thread, but if you want evidence of a "back-ups" being better than starters Texas has a better example. In 1995 Shon Mitchell had the same number of carries as Ricky Williams and Priest Holmes, combined. Which I would argue is a near equivalent level of 2 RBs to Barry and Thurman. Not in terms of ultimate NFL production given the issues Ricky's sadly dealt with, but in terms of stacked college RB talent, absolutely.
  19. Well, I say dumb shit frequently and I'm well known for my shit takes so.. it happens.
  20. Tell me you thought it was good to limit VYs play in favor of Chance Mock in 2004. Tell me you're okay that in 1995 Shon Mitchell had as many carries as Ricky Williams and Priest Holmes... combined. I'm challenging your point: Don't move the goal posts just because the facts say, just as I did, your statement is complete bullshit. Love ya man, but Jesus that was a terrible take and the data proves it.
  21. You don't have to use your eyes. The receipts are in and the numbers don't lie. Arch out performed Ewers in EVERY single metric and as for Redzone, look at the numbers. As for the competition, fair, but keep in mind that after Georgia our head coach never let Arch throw another ball and saying he was used "sparingly" is being extremely generous. Which, extremely limiting next year's starting QB meaningful snaps for half the year it itself a mistake. But lets just focus on Redzone. Ya know where we gave aggie their only points and handed the ball to OSU.
  22. Come on man. This is absolutely, 100% complete bullshit. Better pocket presence, better long passing, better completion ratio, better int to TD percentage... and to just dismiss the Arch's fucking wheels on top if it. Arch: Then there is the redzone. Quinn: Arch: You're better than that.
  23. Well, cowboy, that's on you!
