  1. I tried turning my hat around backwards and moving my change from one pocket to the other.
  2. I’ve held steady between a 1 and 2 for the last few years, but developed the shanks on the range warming up before a round a few weeks ago. Managed to break 100 but not by much and haven’t played a round since. I tried to work it out on the range a couple times to no avail, and I have no clue how to fix. Partial wedges and short game are unaffected, and as a result I’ve just been focusing on those for practice. Any full shot has about a 1-in-3 chance of going sideways. I am supposed to play 18 on Sunday and expecting another blood bath. The good news this happened to me once before about 5 years ago. While it lasted for a few months it was directly followed by the first real quantum improvement I’d had in years going from a double digit index to low single digits. So either I am on the precipice of another breakthrough or I will never sniff breaking 90, much less breaking 80, again.
  3. I just came here to post a link to that Mack clip in reference to my previous post on this thread (#655). So let's get back on topic. Here is Benson's last touch as a Longhorn. Ball is snapped at the 20, he's hit in the backfield and wrapped up by a 6'4" 230 lb consensus All-American at the 22, spun free and threw him to the ground, immediately got sandwiched by two more defenders, one of whom was coming downfield unblocked with a full head of steam. Both of these defensive backs end up hanging on for their lives as CB trampled a third guy at the 21. He probably would have dragged these dudes all the way to the end zone if not for the future Lombardi Award winner and NFL All-Pro linebacker jumping on his back at the 20 and bringing him down at the 19. This was the real life equivalent of Billy Bob's touchdown in Varsity Blues. What an absolute stud. RIP
  4. Can we retire #29?
  5. I am lamenting brunch in fancy Houston as a proud resident of laid back SA.
  6. We are taking a weekend trip to Houston with our boys (9 & 7) soon and my wife wants to book an 10:30am Saturday brunch at a trendy Italian restaurant downtown because she says “brunch seems like a big deal in Houston” and I’m glad I don’t live there anymore but afraid to object too loudly because it’s clear she just wants to do some unreasonable shit and briefly escape a hotel room that smells like farts even if that fucks up one of two mornings on the trip.
  7. If Laguna Madre passed the test for a second visit you might want to try Bill Miller’s for BBQ. I know they have a location on Broadway across from Incarnate Word a couple miles north of where you are focusing. Not sure if there are others.
  8. I don’t do much brunch, but I do hit Thousand Oaks Cafe on Austin Highway every Saturday for breakfast and cannot recommend it highly enough. Of the various Pearl spots I would rank 1) Ladino 2) Mon Chou Chou and 3) Best Quality Daughter as my top three. The pizza place at the food court is also quite good.
  9. I really want to love the Hayden. I go there often enough. Love the vibe and what they are trying to do. But the menu is completely hit or miss depending on what you order. Most dishes with chicken are downright bad and the pastrami gravy is gross. Other sandwiches, burgers and entrees are pretty good. Fish n chips are good. Apps and cocktails are solid. i had the pot roast tonight and while i usually don’t like tomato based sauces on pot roast this was decent and the crispy Brussels sprouts were an excellent accompaniment.
  10. He is going to try to send one to the moon when any poke will do. But I am here for it. You be you Rylan.
  11. I was referencing the dick-bump at home plate.
  12. Have we discussed the unique way these Sooners are celebrating home runs?
  13. Beating Mississippi State is in his blood
  14. From the outside you can’t understand it. From the inside you can’t explain it
  15. I said at the time that if we got the punt off and tackled the returner, the game was won. We weren't going 3 and out and they couldn't move it fast enough. Even on their one sustained drive in the second half it was dink and dunk 4 yards at a time.
  16. I echo Mon Chou Chou. I would also recommend Ladino (mediterranean) and Best Quality Daughter (asian), on the level with Cured and well ahead of places like Southerleigh, Supper, and La Gloria. The pizza spot in the food hall is good, and the new burger place in there looks solid, although I haven't been. Bakery Lorraine for breakfast is great. If you want to range beyond the Pearl proper, I would avoid Carriqui or Down on Grayson. Josephine St. is fine if you aren't looking for anything fancy. But my recommendation would be to walk south on the river to Tres Trattoria for a decent Italian spot. It's a shame Allora shut down because that place was fantastic.
  17. It’s all about perspective. I look at this not as an improvement on fries, but as an improvement on the loaded baked potato.
  18. Went to get myself a blizzard last Thursday at the one on Jackson Keller in SA only to find that it has closed. That’s the only one reasonably close to my house. I sometimes hit the Blanco and Johnson City locations on my way through those towns. I doubt those are going anywhere due to lack of competition. I definitely didn’t need that blizzard so maybe it’s a good thing.
  19. I think all this goes away as soon as we blow someone out, and if we win out with a bunch of close ones, it all becomes moot. And if we lose, they can look and point and tell us how soft we are.
  20. I’m going to have to update my living will to specify no aggy organ donors.
  21. This. I was wrong on this in the lsu/a&m game thread. It seems clear from the sec hypotheticals that in the event of a 3+ team tie, a tiebreaker isn’t used unless it resolves among all teams. In the scenarios where 3+ teams finish 7-1 it’s going to come down to conference opponent winning percentage, and weirdly the Aggies could go ahead of Texas even if we just waxed them at Kyle. It’s like the OG BCS where every oddball game down the board has some meaning. We need weird things like Arkansas over Missouri and miss st to win the egg bowl. or we just need LSU and A&M to each drop another one. Cause a four way tie between Georgia, lsu, Texas abd A&M could weirdly end up with Georgia and Texas sitting out.
  22. A&M gonna have a COVID outbreak when they hear Georgia is waiting for them in ATL.
  23. Check Item A.2.C - if there is not a complete round robin amongst tied teams, and no team either has two losses or two wins over the other teams in a three-way tiebreaker, then they go to the second tiebreaker step and "head to head" is null. So it looks like the calculator is wrong (fingers crossed). https://www.secsports.com/fbtiebreaker
