  1. Thanks for the input, but unless they have their moms with them I won't have anyone in my age range . Going to take my chances at the SoCo Taphouse or Zero One Ale House, those keep coming up on searches. What could go wrong?
  2. Yeah, I can't get out of this trip but it's only for two days. Was hopeful that I could at least get a decent burger and beer at one of the local places. Forgot to check the Surly small town link, maybe there's hope yet.
  3. Going to be in San Angelo April 5-6, been through it a few time but only stopped for gas. Did a search for brew pubs / tap rooms and looks like there might be some decent options. Who's been and whatcha got?
  4. Yeah, it was a great video, but Everything Must Go is the least familiar of all their work to me. Gotta give it a listen again
  5. Love SD, so many great tunes and always top notch musicians on their recordings/live shows. Hard to pick favorites from such deep and diverse catalog but Chain Lightning, Any Major Dude come to mind. Rick Derringer with the solid guitar work on Chain Lightning. The video they did to promote Everything Must Go is hilarious. Cab rides with the Dan in Vegas(I think) really shows their quirky sense of humor. They are in their own musical category for me.
  6. Apolitical Blues. Little Feat with Mick Taylor from Waiting For Columbus is my favorite version.
  7. Just had a Tupps Series 8 TDH IPA. So good, not even gonna complain about their pricing anymore. Ask a beer guy stocking the cooler about when to expect to see Electric Jellyfish on the shelves, was told that has been put on hold for the near future. Anyone else heard this? I thought they were already canning for distribution at the new Round Rock location.
  8. Saw one of those weight loss commercials with Marie Osmond. Would, if she didn't speak.
  9. Picked up some Spindleltap Houston Haze at South Austin Central Market. I'm liking it.
  10. Seeing all of these old candy brands from my childhood and did a search to see if they still make them. Apparently Candy Warehouse has them all. Even still have the candy/gum cigarettes for aspiring young smokers. Who knew?
  11. Love me some Werther's. Got to have a bag or two of those for road trips. I'm such a whore for 'em though, as soon as one melts I'll be reaching for another.
  12. Surly candy smack not going away. Frozen Sugar Babies and a sling shot could settle this. Just sayin'.
  13. So was it determined that Leaning Pear is the best/most reliable nice restaurant in Winberley proper then? I need closure , and not to thread jack but would like to hear more recs for far SW Austin along Hwy.290 west to Dripping Springs and surrounding area. I'm hoping for a good beer/food venue to take over that big ass Trudy's that shut down.
  14. Well, a Big Hunk will murder any dental work, so that's fair.
  15. I like the dark chocolate bars that are spicy and with caramel/sea salt. Brand doesn't matter, wife will buy a bunch of these from World Market, Trader Joe's etc. Same with chocolate nuts and cashews in particular. Still enjoy a Butterfinger too.
  16. Don't know the HCS owners but have a mutual friend who is in real estate and mentioned they were considering or may have bought the tract of land behind them. Will be interesting to see what they do with that if true. After they expanded to put the bar and outdoor area in I don't think I've been back in the original building. Good selection of beers and consistent food/service every time we've been. Nice days can be crowded but hey, grab a drink and chill , people watch and such.
  17. Well, I have partial recall. Train but no bridge, thanks for keeping things on track.
  18. I remember seeing a post on the old site where someone etched a really detailed train and bridge out of the lead in a carpenters pencil. Thought it was pretty cool. That's all I got.
  19. Agreed. I have been to Hat Creek maybe 2-3 times (Hwy.290 west location) and the only non SL beer on tap was Celis White, so went with that.
  20. Red wine, preference to the jammy zins etc. Dry hopped IPA,Pale ale Irish Whiskey, 1- 2ice cubes Scotch, neat Old Fashioned, pretty much the only sweet drink I care for
  21. Couple of pints in on a Thursday night and a feel good story like this has me in my Surly happy place. You be you Duane.
  22. Usually did happy hour or dinner there once a month, and it has been noticeably less crowded with each visit. Had lunch there two weeks ago and there were maybe ten people , but to be fair there isn't near the amount of businesses around it like the north location. The construction does suck but I agree that there is more to it than that.
  23. Kind of wish I had one right now, nostalgic day drinking if you will.
