Where are you staying? If in or around midtown Manhattan, LGA is your best best. Avoid JFK all else being equal because it’s so far away. If you are staying on the west side of Manhattan and prefer United, EWR may make sense (that is the airport I always use, and I live in downtown Manhattan on the west side).

I don’t know the answer on the timing of flight booking.

AirTrain from JFK to Jamaica and then LIRR to Penn.

LGA and EWR are better if you plan to Uber.

And LMAO at you saying New York City isn't for me.  You don't even live in NYC, rather choosing to live in Long Island (and didn't you live in Hoboken before that?).

I lived in Hell’s Kitchen for a year with a roommate prior to the family coming up and then Jersey City for 6 months while we were house hunting. I’ve worked downtown for 7.5 years. I’m fairly certain that I know the score. I’m married with a family, 2 of which were in high school when we relocated. You are single and have dogs. Not quite the same situation.

You’re the one that doesn’t want to get cooties. You’re the typical transplant that makes it a point to tell the world that she lives in NYC by working it into every conversation. Not only NYC, but in the West Village where you see Leo on the reg at Joe’s Pizza. The only real question is who will play you in the movie.

The assholes coming from the DFW burbs are coming to NYC to spread their pestilence (and support the Rangers), and anyone supporting their decision to do so should go fuck themselves.  Anti-vaxxers are on the wrong side of this shit and shouldn't be allowed within 1000 miles of NYC.  It really is a shame our government doesn't have the balls to do what it needs to do and ban the unvaccinated from air travel.  Then @Spankytoes wouldn't have to stand up to his friends.

    In a nutshell:

Fuck people that aren’t breaking any State, Federal or local laws by taking away their Federally protected right to travel, despite not having COVID, because you don’t agree with their position. Let the government overreach its authority by dictating policies to private companies, such as airlines, despite the absence of a mask mandate, quarantine requirements or mandatory vaccinations in NY or NYC. It doesn’t matter that they will be wearing masks, when appropriate, and 2 out of 5 have recovered from COVID. It also doesn’t matter that they aren’t barred from entering their hotel, which apparently has a magical force field not found in restaurants and bars, as does the subway. If you can’t deal with the fact that many, many unvaccinated people will visit one of the most tourist-laden cities in the world, maybe NYC isn’t for you.

    And yes, fuck the Rangers.

It actually IS your business if you are going to be around them.  It is everyone's business that those people might come into contact with.  The Global Pandemic out front should have told you that.  Then again, I am not shocked by this attitude from you given your posting history and the fact that you live in Long Island.

    Good luck with it all.

Oh no, whatever will I do.

Spitballing here, but desperately seek validation from the board by constantly humblebragging about how much money you make/spend? Be sure to let us know when you begin planning your 2024 trip/shopping spree to Staad that never materializes and stay in your $10,000/night hotel where they serve 3 bites of pigs feet for a very reasonable $500 a person plus the cost of a 1920 Chianti. Breaking News: Woman desperately seeks attention. It’s kind of sad.

I’m fully vaccinated. I don’t give 2 shits if my friends are beyond our ability to go to most bars while they are here for a day. It’s none of my business. I give even less of a shit whether you support that position or not.

You have shitty friends.  Fuck your friends for remaining unvaccinated, and fuck you for humoring them and not telling them to stay the fuck at home.  We don't need unvaccinated people in NYC. I hope they put COVID restrictions back on all sporting events in New York City.  Also, fuck the Yankees, the Rangers, and the Red Sox.

You can’t imagine how little your opinion means to me.

Simple solution there: unfriendly any idiot who won’t get a vaccine to help end a pandemic.

5 friends from Dallas coming up for Yankees/Rangers and then Yankees/Red Sox at Fenway. All of them refuse to get vaccinated. So I guess we’re ordering room service.

  8. Overall, I like the move. We are moving towards super conferences anyway, so might as well take our pick before there is no more room at the inn. From a competition standpoint, I have reservations. We’re in the big boy conference now. We had trouble winning the Big 12, even when it’s quality diminished and we should have been fighting with ou for dominance. We didn’t fare much better during our dominant stretch either. With the NIL and being a part of the NFL factory that is the SEC, we should do well on paper with recruiting. But...we were already doing that in the Big 12. Sark needs to work out for us as we’ll never dig ourselves out of our current hole if we change coaches every few years because we can’t establish a culture and identity. Gaining 2 our our traditional rivals back is a plus. Rivalries is what makes CFB so great, even if it means dealing with the cult of Aggie.

  9. Lived in London before I got married. Was a great experience...but I was young and single. Other than cost of living, I don't really see the appeal. I live in Long Island and the amount of times I go into the city for anything besides work is few and far between. I just don't have the desire to do it when most everything I want is at my fingertips in the suburbs. Moving to Thailand or Mexico seems great on paper, but after a week a mountain is just a mountain and a beach is just a beach. The person that said visiting a city is different than living in it is spot on. I don't get the enhanced life experience aspect because you had an apartment instead of a AirBNB.

Ported over from one of the other travel threads.  How are we all feeling about the AMEX Plat price increase?

At first I was definitely going to cancel.  Esp since on the last three tries I've been denied entry into their lounges due to capacity limits.   That was always one of the biggest benefits for me.   Upon further inspection I do think the card pays for itself still.  My annual is in September so I won't see the price increase for almost a year since it's not hitting until 2022.

AMEX Platinum is a tough one to get rid of. The $200 credit for airline fees, $185 for Uber/Uber Eats, $100 annual credit at Saks, $240 digital entertainment credit and $179 credit with CLEAR makes it real hard to cancel. Not to mention, Centurion Lounge access. They just rebuilt and reopened the CL at LGA post-security, so it's actually worth it now, which is good since I fly Southwest out of LGA a lot. DFW-JFK is my most frequent return route, so that's not an issue accessing the CL with the Skylink.

Not thrilled with the increase, but I look at it as paying a retainer fee to cover purchases that you would have already made throughout the year to get all the benefits of the card. It's a hell of a mechanism for rental cars and travel insurance.

It’s definitely been a shit show this year. The owners of the place we used to stay in South Hampton sold their place during the buying frenzy so it was no longer available.

We’ve got a 5 bedroom in Long Beach that we are renting out during the summer. Countries are opening up, we’re traveling.

I long to live in the West Village.  Alas, I need a larger apartment formy two pups and all my stuff, so UES/Sutton Place it is.  Plus, two good dog parks and Central Park all really close.

    City dwellers!

The vaccines will end the pandemic. That’s not the same thing as telling everybody they should go out tomorrow and pretend everything is back to normal. Can you seriously not see the difference there? And if that tweet is taking things out of context like the previous tweet shared from that account, I would recommend some of you try to follow other news sources along with the ones you frequent.

Based on what long term studies?

Yeah, gonna disagree here. We got problems that’s for sure, but our residents aren’t leaving in droves for other states like CA and NY residents.

I wish we could all get along and work together.

That is such a BS narrative pushed by the media. First, there more parts to NY than NYC. No one is leaving Albany, Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, etc. Second, a lot of people are going to their 2nd homes in FL (Or TX for me) because the work narrative has changed. Most industries in the city have offices that either can’t be entered or can only be a capped number of people. (25 last I checked) If you can work remotely, why stay in NYC? It’s like paying for a ticket to Six Flags when all the rides are shutdown. Last, people are still furloughed. Why hang around when you need money now and finding a job in the most populous area is almost impossible? The amount of actors, hotel employees and food service employees here is a pretty good chunk of the population.

In conclusion, your mom is a failed State.
