    TEXAS QB TALK

It's all about matchups. Sometimes it's easier for offensive linemen to get their hands on big dudes. Rice is small and we struggled at times getting hands on smaller rushers. The most terrifying person to guard in basketball isn't the big man, its the really quick short guy that you can't keep in front of you. This issue will come up again and when it does how will we handle it? Even when VY was here we had games where we struggled up front. Quinn is going to have to stand in there and deliver. We will see how that goes moving forward.

I worry about how he handles blitzes. Teams aren't just gonna let him sit back there.
  3. Again. There were only a few good teams here and there and no one was really able to compete with the teams at the very top. Florida is still trying to tackle Nebraska. The SWC had teams that were competitive. That's all that mattered. There wasn't a playoff. Who has the best team was simply just an opinion. No one really knew. Notre Dame was independent. Penn State was Independent until 93. The SEC wasn't the gauntlet it is now. The landscape was totally different then. In 1995 we had 3 teams ranked in the top 25. That's plenty enough to be taken seriously.
  4. Imagine you are aggy.......... You've gone 1-7 vs P5s. You just got 50 hung on you by two dudes named Van Dyke and Cristobal. Texas is about to enter the chat, and they just went into Bryant Denny and physically whooped your most successful team when you proclaimed they couldn't hang in the SEC. You've spent a ton of money on your facilities. NIL. You owe your coach 985 trillion and the sacrificing of the first borm of every aggy alum. You've done everything you can......and still... We must feel like Michael Myers to them.
  5. You gotta remember conferences were different back in the day. Miami was in the big east. These conferences were a lot less potent. A couple good teams at most with the rest being also-rans.
  6. Someone needs to see if Jimbo will give aggy a loan so theyz can buy them boys some longer cleats. The aggy and Jimbo exchange below......
  7. Me too bro. Those were the reads in our day, but now these refs allow linemen 5 yards downfield in some cases and they still throw the ball. On RPOs the linemen don't even know whether its going to be a run or pass as that decision is made based on how the guy in Gbenda's position reacts to Milroe bellying the ball. He bites Milroe pulls. He doesn't Milroe hands off. Or, in the case of Milroe, he bites and Milroe pulls and throws into the teeth of the exact same zone he got picked off on the last time.
  8. They got the memo to change their cleats. lulz
  9. You can't in todays game. They fire off and run block and still throw it with RPOs. Terrible time to be an outside LB.
  10. Man, Ford's instincts were terrible here. He blocked himself. Sweat took up two bodies and left a gap for Ford. Had he trusted himself he could've shot it and got a TFL behind the lead blocker. Instead he tried to scrape over the top, blocked himself, and left a cutback hole for the rb. For shame.
  11. Bama is in nickel coverage while we are in 11 personnel with Baxter split out wide. By alignment that puts a linebacker on J-Whitt. If you are Ewers and Sark you know Bama is desperate to keep a lid on Worthy so you align Worthy next to Whitt and put the safety in conflict by running a vertical. You know Whitt is going to beat that LB so all you have to do is wait. Pitch and catch. No matter how the lb played it he was going to lose.
  12. I don't know a single person that would wear that. Not. One. Single. Person. I am sure that the podunk towns that lean Longhorn would find homes for it though. The closest I have ever come to a shirt like that is this one......and I won't apologize to anyone for it.
  13. Imma- "We will just buy what we need as we go and donate it when we get back".
  14. Saw @immamac in Galveston boarding a cruise cruise ship. Thought you were in Bama?
  15. Good thing your grandkids graduated before Texas had to deal with that.
  16. I spent the last two years listening to your opinions about Sark. I don't need to listen to anyone else. You are correct. 7 years ago I didn't think Strong got enough time. See how I owned that?
  17. Not hard to see what is going on out there. When we struggled in the first half it was because of crucial drops. Then when we looked to be having the same inept 3rd quarter like we did all last year it was because we were throwing to the same guys that were responsible for our inept 3rd quarters last year. However, good thing we brought in AD Mitchell. He was responsible for 14 of the 21 we scored in the 4th. The defense and Brooks the other 7. So if you want to say Sark learned anything from last year and turned the corner, maybe he just learned he can't trust X when the pressure is on.
  18. Shemar Turner only had one tackle Saturday. Police a month ago when Shemar was speeding......... Police- "Son you need to slow down. We are gon let you slide. Good luck this season!" Turner- "Thank you officer" A month later Shemar has one tackle against Miami......... Police knock at his door Police- "Son looks like we won't be able to let that speeding slide after all"
  19. It may be horseshit, but I am not in your head. All I know is what I see, and I see you refusing to have reasonable discourse with @Doc Daneeka. I am just an observer.
  20. 3rd and 11 ball through the hands of J-Whitt. Colt had to lob it over #4 Christian Story to avoid it being picked off. Punt 3rd and 6 perfectly thrown ball to X in the end zone and Worthy dropped it. Then Auburn missed the field goal. 3rd and 2 and Sark drew up double short crossing routes. Sanders is supposed to run his route to create a natural pick to free up AD but Sanders runs a bad route and the DB slips right by. Ewers has to basically throw it away.
  21. I feel like he is just treading water until Steve "calls a bad game".

  23. Sark came out and got the ball out quick horizontally which helped to negate the pass rush and get Bama defending the edges. Then when Bama started flooding the short stuff he pitched it over top. He came back to intermediate, and then hit them over top again, and then at the end ran the ball down their throat. This is nothing that we didn't try to do last year. In fact its classic Sark, which he calls the loop and outlines how he attacks here. It's just last year when we tried to do it the throw was off, or the receiver didn't run the correct route or dropped it. Sometimes it was quick pressure that destroyed it like in the Rice game. I am assuming you know this and are simply trying walk @lilMAC25 to the answer, which was the guys on the field didn't make plays last year and this year they did. Last year teams populated the short and intermediate levels and we couldn't hit on the longer stuff to back them off.
