  1. you must be eating some fugazzi stuff, some of the best boils I’ve had were by non-LA natives done in the traditional way. they always season the water and allow for a soak before draining and serving. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. my cousin living in Miami knows of a neighbor hosting his family that came from South America for the holidays, 5 from the traveling party were able to get the first shot of the vaccine and rescheduled their return home after they get the second dose. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. talked to a friend that participated in the moderna vaccine trial, he had his unblinding appointment yesterday. it was revealed that he had received the vaccine and the option to cross over from the placebo was available right away. also, and more interesting is that the earliest participants are still producing sufficient antibodies "a year later", according to his coordinator. more than a week after getting my first dose of the vaccine I'm still a-ok.
  4. in miami non-hispanic whites are a minority, for starters. when you subtract the cubans and venezuelans you are left with: russians, spanish, brazilians, colombians, argentines, haitians, traditional soccer fans.
  5. for the garlic: peel the cloves and crush with a knife. pop the crushed garlic into a small mason jar and cover them with honey, leaving a little room at the top for gas expansion before screwing the lid on. I left them in a window still for a week, turning them once a day. every second day open the lid to burp the jar. jalapeño: line a baking sheet with parchment paper. place sliced jalapeños on the baking pan and pop them in a toaster over to broil. when cool, put the broiled slices in a small mason jar and repeat the jar turning procedure. these don't get as gassy as the garlic infused honey. simple. I haven't gotten botulism, yet.
  6. out of boredom during the lockdown I started infusing whatever localish honey (fain's, kelley's, round rock) I could get my hands on at my heb. best results achieved were jalapeño and garlic. goes really well on grilled pork loins. you can then eat the sliced garlic and jalapeños left in the jar when all the honey is used. and I'll second the recommendation of mike's hot honey on pizza.

    Pizza

hit up the gypsy poet. found myself revisiting cane rosso on monday and have to tweak my houston neapolitan style pizza ranking 1. gypsy poet 2. pizaro's 3. cane rosso impero italiano got the boot by the thinnest of margins due to the blandness from their dough, however the cane rosso crust doesn't hold up as well as my top 2. which has me scratching my head as they have an amazing oven (stefano ferrara).

  9. mauro manotas leaving houston dynamo fc for ligamx. let's see what ari lassiter can do.
  10. mary mouser has type 1 diabetes. dick.
  11. I've been out combin' the high schools all day!
  12. it has a time of 15:52 (I think). I thought about driving to the address on the ticket as google street view doesn't show a school zone existing there, the image used is old and the street is next to a huge field that could easily fit a school, but.....fulshear.
  13. aircraft tend to land lighter due to burning most of their fuel during the flight. when taking off you are loaded with enough fuel to reach your destination, that added weight increases the distance needed to reach takeoff speed.
  14. need a traffic lawyer recommendation for an attorney that handles cases at city of fulshear municipal court to do a hearing reset and school zone speeding (allegedly) defense. a friend was pulled over for speeding approximately 4 minutes after the reduced limit expired, and 2 two adult passengers claim to not have seen a flashing yellow light. lots of names come up on google, but even katy residents I've asked are clueless.
  15. that seems like a long time to me. I know all breeds are different, my dutch shepherd attacked the housekeeper when she grabbed the towel he slept on to clean it at about 3 months old, at 4 months he started barking at people that came to the front door, at 6 he was back at his breeder for obedience training and they started working him on the leash. I grew up with neapolitan mastiffs in my family and at about 6 months old was when you could let them sleep outside because they could hold their own and someone wasn't going to hop over the wall to steal a blue eyed puppy.
  16. we have a fila at the academy. they are awesome close quarters guardians, but even though they can roam forever on a long leash I wouldn't run them 4 to 5 miles 3 times a week at a jogging pace unless you want to wear their joints out quick.
  17. I'm afraid so. the hsr line will go directly through a friend's house in anderson so he's been going to meetings with the project leaders for a couple of years and according to him they will build a brazos valley station. sucks for him, but at least he's getting paid to move his entire housing complex to another spot on his property.
  18. the breeder I got my dutchie from also trains police and military dogs. I got a male and my business partner got a female from the same litter, when my dog finished his PPD course and before he was allowed to go home I was told that since he had had bite work training there were certain activities the dog couldn't do, like being shown unless it with a very experienced handler and judge that was made aware of the dog's background. my partner's dog is dialed up to 11. she lives at a sports academy that has an enrollment of over 550 kids and she's perfectly fine being at loud game environments, watching the main office during the day, and sometimes being off leash when her owner or caretaker move around. you can't go wrong with a GS and it sounds like you will be a responsible owner.
  19. I hope that anyone looking to get a personal protection dog isn't under the impression that by bringing home a malinois/dogo/cane corso/rottweiler/gsd/doberman puppy it will one day automagically turn into a badass personal guard. the only way you can be confident that you'll have a dog that will protect you when needed and bring him under control when not, is by training and working him.
  20. do it for the reason JMDJ stated, by the time he/she graduates from college they'll have a 5+ year old established trade line on their credit report.
  21. I love your choice in the giant schnauzer. if you are still studying other breeds take a look at the dutch shepherd. they are basically a more mentally stable malinois. I came across the hollandse herder while looking to buy a german shepherd to guard a property. he went to a ranch that had a problem with unannounced strangers walking up to the house. now randoms don't help themselves in and those that drive up stay in their cars and honk the horn for someone to put the dog up. everyone around now knows not to go up to the house guarded by the "hyena" (they actually mean african wild dog), as the dog became known when he was puppy before he grew into his enormous ears.
  22. I'm convinced the sampietrini turns to lava.
  23. just returned from a very last minute trip to florence. I had never visited in august, and I will never laugh again next time I hear on the news about people dropping dead in europe when it is 96 degrees. forecast temps were under 92 during the day, but it felt as if I was being followed by a heat lamp. there was no amount of gelato or nastro azzurri that would cool me down during the day. fuck that. as this was an unexpected trip to help a cousin move since her mom had emergency surgery I arrived completely unprepared. I did manage to discover that the street east of ponte santa trinita to the sourth of the arno -- borno s. jacopo -- and the one that starts east of ponte vecchio -- via de' bardi -- had amazing wine bars/shops, someone else upthread posted a picture and made the same comment. I regret not partaking due to my near heatstroke condition. one late afternoon after setting up my cousin's local cell phone service we realized we were a couple of blocks away from galleria dell'accademia so we decided to walk over to see the line. we got in after a 5 minute wait. so if you want to see the david and don't want to mess with long waits, making reservations or paying a premium from scalpers go about an hour and a half before closing.
  24. ah fuck it, if no one is going to say it...the jewniversity towers. during my stay pretty much the only girls that lived there pledged the jewish sororities.
