  1. Running yards are like golf shots, they dont ask how, they just ask how many.
  2. We ran for 180 yards in the Sugar Bowl loss. Believe he said 'last few years...' or something like that...105 vs Bama one year and 161 the other year. found it: Against most of the better teams on our schedule the last 4 years we've struggled to run the ball at even an average level
  3. We blew Bama off the ball for 4 quarters and sealed with the run game. We ran the ball well vs Michigan and Clemson. I dont see this statement as being very accurate.
  4. I agree on whole. Colt really spoiled us with accuracy, QE was so accurate in the short and intermediate stuff and he had a really nice touch when it called for it....with Arch, imo he's not like anything we've seen in a long time...he may be more feast or famine and as he and Sark get comfortable with what he does best I believe he'll settle down and be great. It may take more time and thankfully we have a defense that may just make it work. Run game is a work in progress; Sark and Company will earn their bones picking and choosing what to call and when given what we have seen throhugh 2 game. I like the way this is setting up however all things considered. Im telling you , when the crossing route hits watch out. That is such an easy throw that of all the throws to not be connecting on that is one that gives me a lot of confidence that he's close to putting it together. I could be wrong but we haven't really done much orbit yet, that was staple of Sark's O with Davontae Smith, really easy throw in the flat to moving target out of the backfield, I mentioned in another thread and got heat that we may be saving for UF/OU....the pirouette screen blew up vs SJSU, QE ran that very well until it got old and we got stuffed. I think Sark is tinkering right now to find Arch's strength and ideally by UF/OU we have a plan. Im confident moving forward.
  5. Went back and watched both games. Im no expert. I have done a 180 on Arch. While not pretty....he's literally 3-4 passes and a couple other drops away from an outstanding start. Yes he's looked mechanically shaky but he's way better than the criticism so far. Posted this on another thread, we would much more prefer him to progress through the season than regress. 2 really bad passes to Wingo, the dirt throw to open tOSU, missed 2 other 2nd layer throws (one he took the deep ball in double coverage), threw a bullet to the TE when a soft toss was enough, then the 1 big drop last week....he also had one big play overturned by penalty....even half of those hit and we are having a much different discussion. We need be patient and be glad he has room to improve as the schedule plays out. Just my 2cents. Not sure this matters, but he's just barely 21 by a 4-5 mos. By end of next year if we make a January run, he'll be closer to 23...i think that matters, we need to let him mature.
  6. Pressure is something. Last year he was the backup, no matter how good he was , QE was the starter. This year, we have burned the boats. No going back, its has to be weighing on him, only explanation imo. Hes going to get better and id rather have him gradually improve then gradually get worse. Lets give him some time. As others have said, hes 3-4 throws and a couple other drops from him matching the hype.
  7. They don't call it a War on Drugs for nothing.
  8. He comes here b/c the Tech board is filled with pages and pictures with numbers
  9. Why does beating Alabama and Michigan matter? In my opinion its because they have both been very good teams the last x amount of seasons. Bama had a dynasty and is still perceived as a powerhouse. Michigan is a recent National Championship team with a superstar in the making at QB. Beating those teams matters, it just does. Polls are a point of debate, but you have to start somewhere. Previous year's records, returning starters, recruiting rankings and roster all play into the polls . Tech may not like it but you havent done anything and if you keep winning you will get your shot. If you are a playoff team, next year you will start high/higher and beating you may matter , at some point. Polls drive fan interest, TV ratings, time slots, network matchups etc...Im not saying its right or its wrong, it just is what it is. College football is glorious for its imperfections. Its becoming the NFL but it still holds on to the subjectivity of sports writers and committees. I think for the most part they get it right at the season progresses and then the next year it resets with some winners and losers. Its not the absolute meritocracy like say PGA golf where the purses and results are defined. College football is its own animal and creates a hell of a debate every year. Going to 9 SEC games and mandated OOC will level the field somewhat. Giving credit for Beating Bama and Michigan given those team's recent success I have no problem with and neither should you.
  10. @immamac posting under the 'there are no bad questions' veil...why do I have to keep opting out every time I log in re data share? Yes Im an old guy
  11. The shovel pass pick 6 before half was a killer, as was not punching in the first drive where got to the goal line. Ifs and buts, honestly it could have been 14-0 Texas after our first two drives.. we snuffed out the fake punt and had good field position after going up 3-0
  12. I have to believe that's coming. My guess would be we see that in Dallas, to totally show something OU has not seen all year. Also, have we gone 4- 5 wide yet? I dont recall us spreading out at all in the first two games. Maybe we are waiting for Mosely to get back. If/when we go 5 wide, we may be able to dink and dunk, mix in getting Arch on the run....perhaps that is part of not showing anything new until we get to the OU-UF stretch. Just spitballing.
  13. Arch is looking closer to a FR than a third year SO. We all need to realize his level of HS competition did him no favors, he just isnt that good, yet. Maybe he improves, but we equally could be seeing the max. His arm talent is weak compared to many other QBs you can easily see in any other games. Hes just not that talented. Sark will have his work cut out for him to try and gameplan around what he does well, which honestly I dont know what that is at this point. Palmer did a nice job on a replay showing how impatient and untrusting (timid) Arch is to throw the 2nd layer pass, over the LB, but under the safety...something QE did with ease. Add in the lack of touch and its very concerning. On the simple TE pass, he threw a Nolan Ryan fastball when a Charlie Hough knuckler would have sufficed, that is something a Jr should know how to execute....why are we not coaching that up?
  14. we're not beating any SEC foe by 30. Not saying we lose, but this team in it's current state is not beating any fellow SEC teams by 30.
  15. Haven’t been following thread tonight…should be noted UL kicked a fg down 0-7 after 1st and goal from the 1 resulted in 3 shitty plays. Hope Sark is taking note. 3 points is your friend
  16. it was written fine, it just wasn't read well. Anyone articulate enough to pull out pedantic should have understood it.
  17. It was a humbling day for everyone. This may prove beneficial in the long run, time will tell. After hearing all the hype about #1 ranking, shit don't stink et al...we win 3 in a row and head to UF with something to prove and get out of Dallas 5-1 I think we'll be aok for a run. Anything other than that and we'll need to buckle up.
  18. yeah Sal missed that part.
  19. Agreed, I needed that. Watched the first 20 minutes+... the reads were there, the throws were there, but we just didn't execute. Got to hand to tOSU defense, but we had our chances...he looked (understandably ) nervous as hell on the re-watch.
  20. Foghorn leghorn is big down there.
  21. Rocket city, Huntsville AL. He thinks Coach Tubs was disappointed in Bama losing lol.
  22. IIRC Jamal fumbled at the goal line
  23. If you haven't seen it, there is a 10 minute or so video of him being interviewed by Dale Hanson in the mid-90's Dallas training camp. It was very entertaining, filled with innuendo, passive aggressive back and forth and ends with Barry slugging Dale in the arm as they go to break. Dale is an instigator and huge Cornhusker fan so you can imagine the tension between the two. Its worth a watch. im sure its on Youtube
  24. Did we have replay back then? Sure looks in to me
  25. One of the great things (I know I know) Mack Brown did is put the fan base in Burnt Orange. "Come early, wear orange , be loud" of something along those lines. From 88-92 night games we all wore the same shit we were hitting 6th street in....Jeans, boots and button down basically or for day games it was a random white tshirt like you said.
