  1. Nathan Jones sacked. his hiring was a huge mistake and pretty much sealed our relegation. 77% chance of going down. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/premier-league/
  2. And so….. what then?
  3. I wish the league didn’t reward that kind of foul fishing.
  4. Saints 1 - 2 Wolves 1) at home 2) against a relegation rival 3) starting 4 of our winter signings 4) up 1-0, while wolves down to 10 men. 5) lose Nathan Jones out. We are going down. I am usually an optimist guy, but we are done. There is has been no joy in watching this club for a long time. miserable.
  5. Did GOP house members yell and berated witnesses? Winning.
  6. ah, man, Southampton fans was relying on Man City taking a relegation spot this year to help us stay up.
  7. that is gonna hurt their seller's rating on Amazon.
  8. Nobody is spending like Chelsea! 😀 BUT even if you compare the business done solely by the new Newcastle owners (roughly 2 years) against the rest of the TRADITIONAL TOP 6, I would argue they have "bought their way" into that bracket which in turn reflects their current league position (4th place). last 2 years net spend leaders (using transfermarkt as reference) 1 Chelsea : €537.06m 2 Man United : €341.33m 3 Newcastle : €313.55m 4 Arsenal: €304.56m 5 Tottenham : €200.68m 6 Liverpool : €104.05m 7 Man City: €38.7m I appreciate the discussion **note: i only measured the last 4 years in my original post to include Joelinton and Almiron in the calculus as they are current contributing starters for Newcastle. *** also, I dont mean to discredit the job Eddie Howe is doing and how he sets up his team. Southampton were the 2nd biggest spenders the winter transfer window and i have no confidence that Nate Jones is going to be able to manage that investment wisely to get us out of the bottom 3.
  9. Eddie Howe has done a good job, but i am kind of going to have to disagree with you. Are they not in the top 4 of spenders in the past 4 years? Kind of reflects their current table position (4th). Net spend the last 4 years. https://www.transfermarkt.us/newcastle-united/alletransfers/verein/762 19/20 - €37.26m 20/21 - €39.00m 21/22 - €130.50m 22/23 - €183.05m that is a 4 year net spend more than Liverpool or Tottenham. Hell, Brighton is the real story, a negative net spend the last 4 years and sitting in 6th place, 6 points behind Newcastle with a game in hand. **Oh, and it's not like Joelinton €44.00m and Almiron €24.00m were cheap buys in 2019.
  10. oh man, i thought you and i had been in the same boat. However, We got power restored yesterday at 3pm. So 5 days, 12 hours without. Freezer is mostly a complete loss. 4 loads of laundry done, dishwasher run, etc. Although......just lost power again at 12:30pm... so things are not unfucked yet it appears.
  11. i am sympathetic to the crews working the issue, but the scale of the response to the problem is pathetic. They should have resources from the rest of the state and/or neighboring states helping out, pitching in. its been 3 days since i have even seen a utility truck roll through my neighborhood. With the lack of communication, you feel forgotten. You look around and wonder: "Are we even on AE's radar?" Of course without power and internet service, the ability to communicate is difficult. Further, it is made a bit more difficult as you see the rest of the city moving on. i guess i am having abandonment issues! The response makes one feel like they don't care. (Oh, they say they do, but they ain't doing shit about it) **5 days, 7 hours and counting.
  12. It’s very real. Got the same text.
  13. The third world. 78703.
  14. 102 hours without power. not a service truck in sight for the last 39 hours.
  15. Same here to the back of the line it seems.
  16. Congrats fellow ‘03er. still no power here for 81 hrs. Not a hint, flicker, etc.
  17. 79 hours and counting with no power. can someone clue me in on laundromats? It’s been 30 years since I last used one. still coin operated? Do you have to use that gnarly powered soap there or can you bring your own? is there unwritten laundromat etiquette I should be aware of?
  18. I think we are in same neighborhood. Saw them an hour ago. Lots of project managing going on. They seem to have disappeared now. No power.
  19. 2021 for me was either 94 hours... currently at 59 hours would have to hit SUNDAY MORNING AT 1AM to break my PR (seems more and more possible)
  20. the 80's man
  21. i imagine there is going to be a huge run at the groceries stores as well. I figure most people's refrigerator contents are a total loss. this is going to hit the working poor much harder than those posting during the day from our cozy offices. Grocery prices are already through the roof ( I am sure replenishing one's refrigerator was not in people's monthly budgets).
  22. Status unchanged in 78703. In fact, it's eerily quiet. No crews, no activity, nothing. Feel forgotten. **driving around my darken neighborhood last night, i did learn those wall mounted porch lanterns you see at some houses are indeed actually powered by gas - only thing lit as you drive down a street.
