  1. Water is wet
  2. Lol... look at the people traversing to the bootpack...
  3. The East Wall looks like amazing... From A-Basin's FB account. Check out the turns off of Willy's Wide. That hike is an ass-kicker but conditions look better than the last time I did it.
  4. Is "great" ironic?
  5. Went ahead and got tickets. Always a bang for the buck. Next Sunday.
  6. Are you for real? Do you take part in any sporting activity? As for it being a workout, that can definitely be true. A good sports massage will kick your ass and it's worth paying for it.

  8. Southside Market in Bastrop - price per half pound
  9. Hang in there... it will be a long ass road but at least you're home. When we moved back from Harvey, we were one of two occupied houses on our block... just us and our next-door neighbors. It was surreal. I think y'all have it worse than we could have ever imagined but look forward to hearing stories of recovery and rebirth.
  10. I had no clue where to put this but knew y'all would appreciate it. Friend of mine is from and lives in Singapore. He went to Manila on business and went to a Texas Roadhouse in some faux Venice-like shopping mall. He posted a picture of his food including these nachos. They are a sight to behold...
  11. I really wish the city would go out and generate some revenue with fines. Our water situation in Central Texas is not good at all. Screw the people who think their precious grass is more important than, I don't know, drinking water.
  12. When we flooded in Houston and tore out the sheetrock, we removed all the 1959 galvanized plumbing (you wouldn't believe the rust inside) and replaced everything with PEX. From what I've always heard, PEX is much more resistant to freezing.
  13. Yup... and yet I, too, see people running their sprinklers in the wintertime. No worries... TONS of water in Lake Travis.
  14. This is a terrible SAT question.
  15. I have quite a few MHS friends who are down to earth and never came off as douchey but they didn't come from "Piney Point F You money" so that surely made a difference. They were also Longhorns and not aggy. Maybe I painted with a bit of a broad brush but the shoe often fits.
  16. Mah green grass!!!! On the use of incandescent Christmas lights, you could also try to rig a halogen spotlight on a stake - get an outdoor halogen with an outdoor rated spike and maybe find a way to shine it onto the fixture. Not too close... they can throw off a lot of heat. I've used them in my little greenhouses to move a ton of contiainer plants and keep them alive during freezes. We'll see how it all worked out when I take apart my "system" on Saturday. Last time we got to 22 or so, they did the trick. Can post pictures later for those trying to save container plants without moving them all into the garage.

This is a good one... the 12th is going to be problematic. Kevin Morby is awesome. He will have other shows, I'm sure.

I went to the Mohawk page and found the event on their calendar. It says you can get two tickets but it only allowed me to check out with one in my cart. "Bought" one and then went back and redid it with my wife's name. Seemed to work. Here's another one for country/bluegrass fans. Tony Kamel is solid... he's from my part of town in Houston. Good guy, talented. Sentimental Family Band making a name for themselves. This one is free, as well.

  22. We left Houston in 2020. If I had my choice, I would live in the Heights, too, but honestly I have zero interest in moving back to Houston. I used to live off of Memorial and while I great up in the area and loved living there, I just couldn't. Really been very happy with moving back to Austin for a laundry list of reasons. Now, if only I could pick up Phoenicia on Westheimer and move it to somewhere in south Austin (no no... not that lame ass Phoenicia on S. Lamar) Edit: we were zoned to Memorial when we moved. In a weird way, I'm glad we don't have to deal with the general MHS parent population and their entitled children. F off if you disagree... lived in the area for decades... that's what its like. There's also a subset of SHS that thinks they are MHS parents.
  23. Had a call with someone in Green Bay, WI this morning. Temperature difference between Green Bay and our house was 8 degrees.
