Southern CA Fires- Extreme Santa Ana Winds
I can't speak to the Methodists but, again, based on experience with Harvey, despite what you may think of their beliefs, the LDS seemed to be doing great work on the ground helping people out after a disaster.

Why Can't I Quit You, Austin?
Hey, not sure if y'all saw this about Samuel Grey Horse: https://www.statesman.com/story/news/fire/2025/01/10/horseback-santa-samuel-grey-horse-house-fire/77594420007/ Who? You know him - you've seen him so many times... He's a fixture on South Congress and loved by the music community. His GoFundMe has already raised something like $32K (the goal was $25K). Love to see the community rally around him.

I know a similar sentiment existed during Harvey relief... donate locally, not to the Red Cross.

Hawaii- Big Island
I mean, it feels like a lot of Hawaii is pretty rural and just sleepy. Am I wrong? Aside from places like Waikiki? Again, I won't know until I go there but it feels like Hawaii is kind of our US Costa Rica. No? So is Hilo Tamarindo?

Concerts you are attending
Yeah - March 2nd, I think. Also thinking of going to the KOOP 30th party also at Antone's

Hawaii- Big Island
To be fair, I have no idea what we're looking for... I mean, maybe I can make our east side place on the east side 5 nights vs 4

Concerts you are attending
@jimmyjazz you going to go to the Austin Music Awards this year? Working on convincing my wife.

Concerts you are attending
I mean, I would think a concert like that will make you feel really young... or really old. I saw ZZ Top last year and while they were great, the audience was depressing. Never seen Rascal Scooters and walkers at a concert before.

Trudy's in trouble
Reminds me of El Patio / Club No Minors in Houston. Dog food on the menu so you drink their margaritas. Actually, you go for the margaritas but the food is filler to delay the eventual puke.

4 out of 5 avalanche risk and no beacons... https://snowbrains.com/4-skiers-swept-away-by-avalanche-2-killed-in-off-piste-area-near-val-disere-france/- What are you listening to right now?
Started listening to this in conjunction with going through the entire New Order catalog...- Trudy's in trouble
Trudy's hasn't been relevant since who the hell knows- Hawaii Main Island
Yeah, I get it. I like both. I wish I could live at the beach and a ski mountain simultaneously. Anyway, was reading up on localism in Hawaii since I want to get into the water. Sounds like the strong advice is give respect, get respect and everything flows pretty smoothly from there... and I suspect the more intense waves/local vibes will be ones I'll avoid.- Southern CA Fires- Extreme Santa Ana Winds
Me looking for the man starting it...- Southern CA Fires- Extreme Santa Ana Winds
Man, I have no idea how to comprehend this. We had to deal with Harvey and what that did to our community but in comparison, it wasn't a hard effort for the community to bounce back. Well, no, it was hard. It wasn't THIS hard. Even today, you can see the scars of Harvey but you can also pretend it never happened... the trees are still there, the landscape hasn't really changed. Your will be different but your community will find a way to bounce back. It may be hard to fathom now but it will happen. Prayers to you, my friend.- Hawaii Main Island
We'll have a car when staying in Punalu'u so I'm sure we'll head over to the north shore quite a bit. May also pack a couple of bodyboards and fins and bring them with me instead of renting to visit Makapuu and Sandy Beach. But honestly, my knowledge of the island is limited. Plan on hiking quite a bit, though.- Hawaii Main Island
I'd be curious. Aside from the Big Island we have 3 nights in Waikiki near the Zoo and 4 nights in Punalu'u- Texas 2025 Roster
Damn you ...- Hawaii- Big Island
OK... trip fully booked. Here's what we've got - 7 nights in Oahu, 6 nights in the Big Island. Will figure out the details later. Have a Hawaiian friend giving me insight on Oahu and a friend who just sold her house in Waikoloa giving me insight on the Big Island... Fly into Honolulu, Oahu Waikiki (3 nights) - no car car pickup Punaluu (4 nights) Honolulu to Hilo Big Island - Hawaii pick up car at Hilo Airport Hilo, Hawaii (2 nights) Volcano (1 night) Kailua (3 nights) Fly out of Kona- Ski Season 2024/2025
That's great - you're lucky to have that so close by- 2025 Cotton Bowl: CFP SF - Texas vs. Ohio State - 6:30pm on ESPN
- Okay you assholes, it's Cotton Bowl Friday, and my freshly-washed balls are ready to be licked by the Buckeyes . . . .
