  1. I agree but he's also the first guy off the field in a lot of our subpackages, so it'll be interesting to see. As an aside, that's something that I really like about this team and the way that Sark/PK run things. There are a lot of guys with specialized roles. It's not just rotations that get non-starters reps. Helm, Agbo, Blackwell, Bush, Collins, and Robinson are all guys that are engaged and play legitimately important roles that wouldn't under coordinators that are married to a particular base package. Not to mention special teamers.
  2. Right, I didn't mean that any of the three were NCAA, just that all three were horrible and they were all starting next to each other
  3. oh my god I forgot Cuney/McMillon/Nickelson starting trio
  4. Alex Dunlap - Remember the Alamo Bowl His point about Ovie reminds me: Burke is one of the guys recovering from injury. There may be a bump in play coming from him between that and rest to recover from being tired as a first year starter. If we get Bama Burke that would be huge. Though it's also possible he doesn't even play much if we end up in the Blackwell dime a bunch. Someone that knows more about scheme can answer this: what impact does EDGE play have on OL shifts? It's been discussed that UW will shift the OL and roll Penix out but I would think that can be countered if a DE can get upfield and set the edge. I also wonder if we see some return of the nickel and corner blitz (not that we ever really abandoned them) for a similar reason. In which case I wonder if we see some Burke in the Blackwell package since he can drop.
  5. I admire that Elko has seemingly accepted their place in the transfer portal hierarchy
  6. - Maryland 2 was the angriest I've ever been as a fan - Related: Malcom Roach middle linebacker hype - Taysom Hill - Nick Rose extra point - Arkansas bowl game - Mike Yurcich QB room fiasco - 2020 Duggan scramble -> Keaontay fumble
  7. A couple notes from Suchomel/OB (I'm sorry) - As of this morning, Tyanthony Smith is unlikely to visit this weekend. But who really knows. - Hunter Andrews told them this morning that he is unlikely to visit this weekend. Had quotes from the coach about being loyal to Utah but also being interested in everything Texas has to offer - Kobe Black's recruitment seems to have had a late twist and they now believe A&M will be the pick (jk I made that one up)
  8. Coming soon to cstat. He'll need to print more pages to fit the whole roster tho.
  9. You only have two years of data, one of which was 2020. An article saying a bunch of guys are banged up means nothing. Pretty sure a bunch of them played the entire year anyways. The important guys certainly did. And your argument would really need a deeper dive of the injuries to be applicable. I have no opinion of the guy, but the drill sergeant shtick is a bigger red flag to me.
  10. I have no horse in this race, but it's weird to place all blame for injuries on the S&C coach, especially when one of the years you're citing was the fucky COVID year that would have thrown all S&C routines into whack. I don't think injuries in two years with one being an asterisk is a good way to judge a multi-decade career.
  11. 2024 Texas Transfer Tracker (Updated 12/12/23 6:64pm) On3 Transfer Portal Wire: https://www.on3.com/transfer-portal/wire/football/2024/ This is the quick hits for Texas-related transfers only. Out: Offense WR Casey Cain, WR Isaiah Neyor, OL Sawyer Goram-Welch Defense S BJ Allen, S Jalen Catalon, CB X'Avion Brice (North Texas), S Larry Turner-Gooden In: Offense Defense Targets (Estimated Needs): Italics indicate message board speculation only TE (0-1) WR (1-2) Antwane "Juice" Wells Jr. (South Carolina); Deion Burks (Purdue); Matthew Golden (Houston) DE (0-1) Trey Moore (UTSA; visited 12/9) DL (0-1) Jamaree Caldwell (Houston) S (1-2) Andrew Mukuba (Clemson) K/P (1)
  12. Agreed. IMO Worthy will climb up draft boards from here because he brings a unique gravity to an offense that demands attention in the defensive gameplan
  13. "I've actually met Evan Stewart" In hindsight, big harvdog vibes with that one
  14. Seems premature to say DeBoer is a level up of Peterson
  15. Yes, they should do that. Sure, such provisions might be illegal under Texas NIL, law but what matters more is the court of public opinion and A&M will surely win there. Future recruits will love it.
  16. Last year I had this tracker going in the transfer thread. Here's an updated version for the current cycle. I'll try to post it periodically or when there's real news. I'm only going to add players once they are in the portal and only targets with confirmed interest from the Texas side. And here's last year's if anybody wants to check it out
  17. At first I laughed at them melting down over Robinson wearing a cuse jacket. But now he's recruiting current players from the portal and prospective players from their high school class. Aggy, what the fuck are you doing? It's like if OU had just let Lincoln Riley coach through the bowl game
  18. tbf this class is pretty much already wrapped up. The pitch gets stronger every year but they couldn't sell dual all americans, outland trophy, etc back in July
  19. As I understand it: Texas One Fund: NIL collective Burnt Ends: NIL program run by surly for Texas TEs. Not part of TOF. They get paid a yearly amount to go on the podcast and do some promo stuff Tree fiddy club: donations to surly (I believe it goes towards server and tech costs, events like tailgates, BAMF awards, etc.)
  20. They'll have Donovan Green coming back from injury. Projected starter before missing the season due to injury. I think Max Wright might also be able to come back for a 7th year if he tries.
  21. If Collins comes back I think Collins/Bledsore backed up by Broughton/Carter would be ok. We aren't going to be able to replicate Sweat/Murphy but I think each of those guys (well, the ones one the team) bring something
  22. We aren’t going to improve on Worthy/Mitchell. That’s not how we should judge portal takes
  23. god I fucking hate Tim Brando calls
  24. With Elko taking over in cstat, Princely has unfinished business. The new guy must be baptized via spiked volleyball to the face.
