  1. It was awesome. There is a thread on the Help board with some pics.
  2. I guess my main point above is that I don’t think getting vaccinated or not is really that much of a political thing. Plenty of Democrats aren’t getting the vaccine, especially blacks and Hispanics. Plenty of Republicans aren’t getting the vaccine, especially rural rednecks. No need for political finger pointing. Just get freaking vaccinated.
  3. Here is what I'm struggling with... I keep hearing in the media that it is the right-wing white Trumpers who are avoiding the vaccine and causing all the problems. That doesn't jive with the above stats. Blacks are 87% democrat and 33% vaccinated. Hispanic are 66% democrat and 38% vaccinated. I guess it is the republican blacks and hispanics who aren't getting vaccinated???
  4. Maybe he will finally give up acting and focus on coaching. I mean damn, here he was at a premier just days after the Mavs finished their season.:
  5. Agree regarding the 2018 NBA class. Very solid, deep class. Love seeing Ayton step up and prove the haters wrong. Here is how I would re-rank that class. I bet we will see as many as 8-10 players from that class earn at least one all-star. I still am pulling for Bamba to find the right situation and show what he can do. Luka Doncic - 27.7, 8.0, 8.6 - 1st Team NBA Trae Young - 25.3, 3.9, 9.4 - All-Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander - 23.7, 4.7, 5.9 DeAndre Ayton - 14.4, 10.5, 1.4 Collin Sexton - 24.3, 3.1, 4.4 Michael Porter Jr. - 19.0, 7.3, 1.1 Jaren Jackson Jr. - 17.4, 4.6, 1.4 (2020) Wendell Carter Jr - 11.2, 8.2, 1.9 Marvin Bagley - 14.1, 7.4. 1.0 Devonte Graham - 14.8, 2.7. 5.4 Miles Bridges - 12.7, 6.0, 2.2 Mikal Bridges - 13.5, 4.3, 2.1 Jalen Brunson - 12.6, 3.4, 3.5 Mitchell Robinson - 8.3, 8.1, 0.5 Mo Bamba - 8.0, 5.8. 0.8 Kevin Huerter - 11.9, 3.3, 3.5 Gary Trent Jr - 11.3, 2.6, 1.4 Donte DiVencenzo - 10.4, 5.8, 3.1 Lonnie Walker - 11.2, 2.6, 1.7 Grayson Allen - 10.6, 3.2, 2.2 Landrey Shamet - 9.3, 1.8, 1.6
  6. I would probably add Daniel Gibson to that list.
  7. It will be interesting to see how the draft picks and free agents improve the various teams. Detroit next year could be starting: Cade Cunningham (20, 2021 #1 pick), Killian Hayes (20, 2020 #7 pick), Saddiq Bey (22, 1st team rookie), Jerami Grant (27, MIP candidate), Isaiah Stewart (20, 2nd team rookie). Plus a handful of early 20s role players. They have the makings of an interesting team in a few years with that core. Orlando could add Jonathan Kuminga (at #5) and Davion Mitchell (at #8) to jump start their rebuild, giving them two guards to add to their young bigs.
  8. I disagree with the Davion Mitchell thoughts above. I think he has a chance to be a really good NBA player. He is one of the best perimeter defenders I have ever seen at the college level. He is built like a tank and will be able to defend any point guard in the NBA from day 1. I am really looking forward to seeing him match up with the likes of Trae Young, Curry, Chris Paul, etc. The dude brings a lot of physicality despite being only 6'0. And I appreciate that he doesn't have a GREAT offensive game yet, but he knows how to chose his spots. Last year he averaged over a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio and shot > 44% from 3 on almost 5 attempts per game. That is despite guarding the other team's best guard all the way out to half court. That tells me he is exceptionally conditioned. With players that committed to defense it is rare to get that level of control on the offensive end. His usage last year was only ~20% and he still averaged 14 pts, 5.5 ast. Give him Trae Young's 37% usage and you would see a lot different stats. For me, his floor as a player is a Marcus Smart / Pat Beverly with better decision quality. His ceiling would be maybe Jrue Holiday. Or even a poor man's Chris Paul. I wouldn't take him in the top-5, but I think he is a really safe pick beyond that. Given his competitiveness, defense and efficiency, I will be surprised if he doesn't have a 10+ year NBA career as at least a contributor.
  9. So glad the Sixers lost. Hate the formation of that team for today’s game. Break it up.
  10. You know now that you mention Grant Hill, that seems like a good comp for Jayson Tatum. Not the most explosive athlete, but knows how to get buckets.

    Tinnitus

Well, I hunt occasionally. Shot a shotgun some as a kid. But nothing excessive. Went to maybe 30 concerts in my lifetime. They checked my hearing and it seems to be ok. Guess I will get it checked out.
  12. Yeah I left Luka off the #3s. I don't see him pushing out prime Harden, MJ, Carmelo or Penny Hardaway. Yet. I like prime Ray Allen and Vince Carter over Trae Young at this point. Maybe not in a year. De'Aaron Fox was also a #5 pick. I would rank like this... #3 > #2 > #5 > #13 > #6 > #7 > #4 The #3s are just too loaded. Literally everyone on that team can score. I like the #2s next. They are loaded with winners and great defenders (3 DPoYs spanning front and backcourt plus ). Excellent distributors (Isiah averaged 13.9 apg!). Great scoring, but with some real junkyard dogs. I would love to watch that team. The #5s would be sick with Barkley and Garnett. Pippen and Wade would function a lot like Pippen / Jordan. And then Ray Allen bombing away. Maybe this team should be higher. I think the #13s will continue to climb the ranks as Mitchell, Booker and LaVine keep improving. Tough to decide between the #13s and the #6s.

    Tinnitus

Lately I've been watching the NBA playoffs or something and my wife and daughter will be having a conversation beside me while possibly watching something dumb on youtube. I usually end up snapping at them because the chaos of them talking plus phone plus the game crowd plus the announcers is just auditory overload. It drives me crazy.

    Tinnitus

Sleep hasn't been an issue. I'm more concerned that something is wrong with the combination of my left jaw and ear. Pretty bad cracking and gurgling on that side when I move my jaw around. Who knows.

    Tinnitus

Over the last year, I've developed a moderate case of tinnitus. Basically my ears have a continual high pitched ringing, especially my left ear. I suspect it was caused by a combination of sinus issues, jaw issues, constant video calls and possibly COVID (50/50 whether I had it). Interestingly, my boss and main coworker have also developed moderate cases this year. I figured that this is a good topic to get some discussion on given the rise in cases and the recent suicide of Kent Taylor (Texas Roadhouse) due to tinnitus. Is anyone else experiencing it? Are there any experts in the Austin area you would recommend? Also any good ENT doctors? If this works better in another forum, please move it.
  17. I'm going to go with the Bill Simmons question of "if aliens landed and we had a single game for the fate of the world, who are my first 5 picks to be on the team?". KD Kawhi LeBron Steph Jokic It is hard to leave Giannis off since he can get a team to 50 wins almost by himself, but in a single game I'm going to go with the guys above. As a thought exercise, with some of the players behind these guys, you can ask... "if I swapped X player with one of these guys, how would the team results change". For example, if you swap Steph and Luka, which team does better this year? I think Dallas improves with Steph and GS gets worse. Barely. Swap Giannis and Jokic, which team gets better? (Yes I realize they play different positions). Close one here. I think the role players in Milwaukee get marginally better and the team wins a few more games. For me, it is very close between Giannis, Jokic and Embiid. Swap Jokic and Embiid and both teams might actually get better. Jimmy Butler isn't getting any mention. This year he was #5 in PER, #5 in WS, #3 in WS/48, #6 in VORP Zion is #4 in PER, #11 in WS, #13 in WS/48, #10 in VORP Gobert is #2 in WS, #4 in WS/48, #14 in VORP, #15 in PER
  18. Before I answer, need to get alignment on what we are talking about here. Top-5 for a single game? Playoff series? Whole playoffs? Whole season? THIS past season? Starting a team?
  19. For a slightly different twist on the question, rank these teams by draft pick (Since 1978): #2 Picks PG – Isiah Thomas ’84 – #5 MVP SG – Jason Kidd ’02 – #2 MVP SF – Gary Payton ’98 – #3 MVP PF – Kevin Durant ’14 - MVP C – Alonzo Mourning ’99 – #2 MVP, DPoY B1 – LaMarcus Aldridge ’15 - #7 MVP B2 – Tyson Chandler ’12 – DPoY #3 Picks PG – James Harden ’18 - MVP SG – Michael Jordan ’96 - MVP SF – Dominique Wilkins ’86 - #2 MVP PF – Kevin McHale ’87 - #4 MVP C – Pau Gasol ’11 - 2nd Team NBA B1 – Penny Hardaway ’96 - #3 MVP B2 – Carmelo Anthony ’13 – #3 MVP #4 Picks PG – Chris Paul ’12 - #3 MVP SG – Russell Westbrook ’16 - MVP SF - Glen Rice ’97 - #5 MVP PF – Chris Bosh ’07 - #7 MVP C – Dikembe Mutombo - #13 MVP, DPoY B1 – Rasheed Wallace ’05 – All Star B2 – Mike Conley ’13 – All Def #5 Picks PG – Ray Allen ’05 - #9 MVP SG – Dwyane Wade ’09 - #3 MVP SF – Scottie Pippin ’94 - #2 MVP PF – Charles Barkley β€˜93 - MVP C – Kevin Garnett ’04 - MVP B1 – Vince Carter ’01 – 2nd Team NBA B2 – Kevin Love ’12 - #6 MVP #6 Picks PG – Damian Lillard ’18 - #4 MVP SG – Brandon Roy ’09 - #9 MVP SF – Larry Bird ’85 - MVP PF – Antoine Walker ’98 - #12 MVP C – Chris Kaman ’10 – All Star B1 – Hersey Hawkins ’91 – All Star B2 – Wally Szczerbiak ’02 – All-Star #7 Picks PG – Steph Curry ’16 - MVP SG – Kevin Johnson ’91 - #7 MVP SF – Chris Mullin ’92 - #6 MVP PF – Julius Randle ’21 - #8 MVP C – Roy Tarpley β€˜88 – 6th MOY B1 – Alvin Robertson β€˜86 - #13 MVP, DPoY B2 – Rip Hamilton ’07 – All-Star #13 Picks PG – Donovan Mitchell ’21 – All-Star SG – Devin Booker ’21 – All Star SF – Kobe Bryant β€˜08 - MVP PF – Karl Malone ’97 - MVP C – Dale Davis ’00 – All Star B2 – Sleepy Floyd ’87 – All Star B – Zach LaVine ’21 – All Star
  20. Bah. If Magic can go 42 and 15 while playing center to win a championship in the 80s, Bron could play it just fine in the modern game. Is Jokic really going to be able to guard LeBron on the other end of the court?
  21. Man… Cameron was laying there in serious Payne.
  22. The nugget cheap shot thrower F’ed around. And then he found out. I enjoyed it. He got off easy.
  23. We were flying SWA from Kona to Honolulu a week ago and we're in row ~7. A husband and wife were sitting in row 1 on our side. The plan was probably 30-40% full. Husband is a 60s black guy wearing a straw fedora. Wife is a late 40s bleached blonde high maintenance Karen. Last passenger gets on. Cool you everyone can stretch out. Tona of room. But wait there's one more passenger. Clueless 20 yr old Japanese lady boards... and proceeds to sit between the husband and wife. They are like "there are 100 seats open behind us!-$-?!". She is "no I want to sit here". Stewardess says sorry it is open seating. Anyone is free to sit where they want. If the husband and wife want to sit together they can move to the back of he plane. Much drama and mouthing off from the couple until the stewardess says with another word they are all off the plane. Nobody moves it says anything. Flight takes off. Things appear to cool down. Japanese lady still sitting between them. Now black guy decides he is done wearing a mask and done with this BS. Stands up and starts acting hostile. Stewardess talks him down and he and the wife file to the back of the plane for the last 10 min of the flight. Japanese woman now gets the row to herself. Winning, lol. We land and there are 7 of the biggest cops I have ever seen waiting for the couple. It was all highly entertaining. Why they didn't just tell her she could have the aisle or window and sit together I have no idea.p. People are going crazy.
