  1. man, catholics can be so weirdly morbid. -signed, a recovering catholic
  2. i mean he's pretty good at this presidenting stuff for a senile old coot with dementia.
  3. Hulu>>>Netflix now... dunno if that's always been the case, probably not since Netflix is the OG. but recent years Hulu has been my #1 for original content. ETA ...except for HBO, which remains original content king.
  4. so they're going to impeach Paxton? and they did this... https://www.texastribune.org/2023/05/23/texas-legislature-diaper-tampon-tax/ congratulations on two good things this session. kudos. πŸ™„
  5. RBG syndrome... a pioneer and legend who deserved honor and fanfare celebrating her amazing legacy... who will be vilified for fucking around and causing every female in America to find out. her faculties being fine makes it worse imo...she knew her health issues and the risk she was taking. gotdammit. 😑
  6. that's a beautiful home... but i can't believe it doesn't even have a hot tub lol
  7. ohh Face Off is a good pick...and it reminds me to add both Con Air and Pulp Fiction to my list! which also reminds me of...From Dusk Till Dawn and Desperado.
  8. ...as was True Blood! and Oz will always have a special place for being the first one-hour marquee drama of its kind, not to mention one of the first fleshed out male homosexual relationships on tv (as fucked up as it was lol). i think i've mentioned before, but when The Sopranos was really first taking off Playboy did an interview with the HBO exec at the time who basically said if it hadn't been for Oz, The Sopranos wouldn't exist. what that list really hammers home is how much i am HBO's bitch πŸ˜„
  9. Mare of Eastown is a different category...'limited series or movie' or something, the same category True Detective falls into. not the same as 'primetime drama series'.
  10. lol alright, everybody calm down, i said 'might' πŸ˜„ the finale will indeed be key. and yes i specified just HBO...Bozo's list includes BB and MM, both absolutely near the top as well...but Westworld doesn't even come close, come on πŸ˜‹ also, GoT genre is not my jam... and i never watched The Wire 😐
  11. he also stood up for Greg when Mattson was laughing at him and giving him shit at the retreat. Roman got me in the feels again this episode. i was way off when i said he was smarter than his siblings a few weeks ago (not as wrong as insisting Mattson's offer wasn't 'real' lol) but he's definitely the most...tender? vulnerable? sympathetic? i mean Logan (and Caroline) seriously fucked up all the kids...but Roman seems to be the most damaged. Culkin is killing it...Strong and Macfadyen got their Emmys, i'll be rooting for Culkin next year. i like the notion of Mencken losing, Mattson getting the deal, then appointing Greg or Tom as puppet CEO and pushing all the sibs out. that seems like a very fitting ending. this show is easily top 3 ever for HBO, maybe top 2... the writing/dialogue for Deadwood may never be topped, but the sheer scale and scope of this one might just have surpassed The Sopranos for me. just incredible tv, i will really miss it ☹️
  12. my niece will graduate from UNT next year and she has said on multiple occasions 'im getting the fuck out of this shitty state so fast, like a slingshot!' it would make me sad...except i pretty much did the same thing last year πŸ’”
  13. my god this page is hitting home and all sorts of feels. my mother died of cirrhosis four years ago. she actually didn't drink that much in her last 10 years or so, but she'd done so much damage the doctors thought she must still be a raging alcoholic. kidneys shut down, then everything else... everything MaC went thru, sounds exactly the same. my sister is well on her way to the same end, and in complete denial. she 'controls' it, dries out for a month or so every year, thinks that takes care of it. she insists mom's biggest problem was she took too much Tylenol. πŸ™„ seriously. just last night she replied to a text at what was past 1am her time, sounding extremely maudlin...and almost certainly drunk on a weeknight with work this morning. my dad's doctor told him before last Christmas to enjoy the holidays bc once the new year started he really needed to start pulling back on the drinking bc his liver was 'starting to show'. near as i can tell that had about zero effect. that's every member of my family. i do drink but not anywhere near the volume or frequency of my family. i prefer to get high, good or bad. i used to drink more...but then my niece was born, and i became the only family member that would look around and say 'well somebody needs to stay sober and watch the baby'. i'm also legitimately solely a social drinker, i rarely/never drink alone. drastic difference from my family. gotdamn MaC's story is heartbreaking and how you guys feel, the impacts...πŸ’” i'm likely going to go thru this personally two more times, including my much younger sister... and i'm just fucking resigned about it. my husband will get upset and yell about 'you need to tell her this' and 'you need to say XXX to her!' and i'm just like...why? i've said everything to her for 20, 30 years...it makes no difference. she won't even accept how our mother died... she's had a massive rift with her daughter that might be permanent, she's certainly not changing for her... she's moved to live near our dad so they can sit out in the country and get shitfaced together whenever they want... what on earth could i possibly say that would make one bit of difference at this point to either of them? i know the answer, i accepted it many years back. BearSchlong has very wise words... y'all who lost a friend could have done nothing more than you did. heartbreaking for all ❀️🀘
  14. when she listed it was pretty much in line with the comps in the same complex... but maybe the market (especially in Austin??) has taken a more drastic downturn the past couple of months, yeah? she didn't do anything with the flooring for the exact reason you said - she figured someone would want to pick that out themselves. anyway... she's going to look at renting it out for a year or so if no bites, she's not desperate yet πŸ™‚
  15. oh you mean the democracy that one party is trying to destroy and in Texas is actively passing laws to circumvent, the party you keep voting for bc it protects your child sacrificing cult status above literally everything else, that democracy? yeah, it might be in trouble.
  16. the eating disorder and menstrual cycle nightmares hit home hard. man...FUCK TEXAS LEADERS. and FUCK EVERY TEXAN that continues to vote for them. gotdamn.
  17. someone else coined the phrase, i just recognize its accuracy and appropriateness. but it's good that you fully embrace your zealotry, people deserve to know who the child-sacrificing cultists are among civilized society. of course, it's Texas, the cultists are in charge anyway.
