  1. CSB. I have a good friend who is a civilian procurement specialist for the Pentagon, more specifically bombs and missles. He was shitting himself all summer because they were given so much money above their request last year that he couldn't figure out a way to spend it. He had to come up with complete bullshit and waste just to stay employed. The Colonel that he'd worked for the last several years was asked to leave because he refused to go along on ethical grounds. Everything is jacked throughout this administration.
  2. I just got back form the mountains and a quick vacation. I woke up at 5:30 Denver time to watch that shit. At first it was, "Holy shit! Daniel James gets another and it's a wonder strike! Way to come out early and go for the jugular. This is United!" It then turned into "Holy shit! We can't defend a header for the second week in a row and it costs us 3 points against a shit team. Way to come out in the second half flat as stepped on dogshit." This break is coming at a great time. I can't wait to see highlights of Pogba playing his ass off in a qualifier against shit teams and then come back and not give a shit. Shit. This season is going to be shit, and long, again. Somehow we will pull off a win against Leicester to get my hopes up and then play down to our competition again.
  3. A little less than two years ago I was in the midst of a back and forth dry/wasted struggle that lasted around 6 months after putting together close to 2 years of sobriety. My friends were worried and starting to tire of my bullshit, but one friend reached out his hand and offered me a flight to Denver for some air, calm, and football. I thought a change scenery for a couple of days might do the trick and get me to a place I could really get sober again. I took off work early that day, smoked a little pot, and had a glass of wine to calm my nerves before heading to the airport. That hour of fucking around led me to miss the check in for my flight, which in turn led me directly to a liquor store to drink away my anger. On the 40 min back down I-35 to my house I had swilled enough of a liter of vodka that I was noticeably swerving and another driver called the police. I knew I was being followed so I hauled ass home and beat the cops, but my drunk ass sat in the car making an excuse to my good friend why I missed the flight. By the time I exited the vehicle, the police had spotted my car and were up on me. They had me. I resisted. It got ugly. I spent the night in jail and got an APC (Actual Physical Control) charge for my efforts. All of my years of drinking and I had only been in trouble with the law in college, yet here I was 38 and catching an alcohol inflicted charge after getting sober, and then unsober. I tell that story because I know what happens if I go back out and drink. I've just gone through one of the toughest periods of sobriety I've experienced and I didn't drink. I stayed surrendered, went to meetings, and kept praying to my higher power. Tonight, I fly to Denver with over 19 months to help my same friend move after a bad break up and watch the opening of football season while giving him a hand. He doesn't have to worry about me missing that flight. Living amends at its fucking finest. I couldn't be more grateful. Hang in ladies and gents. It always gets better even if I don't see it for weeks at a time. Much love, happy days.
  4. And seagulls when necessary...Cantona is a fucking legend.
  5. Chaos fatigue. This story has been going since before the election and the amount of other scandals compiled with the shit thrown at us daily by the President makes it nearly impossible to keep up with. If I'm not getting paid to follow it, it will get lost in all of the other unprecedented shit we hear weekly. Hell, Hugo has even calmed down about it.
  6. The other Pharma's got off relatively cheap compared to that by choosing to settle. Now it will be interesting to see how Oklahoma fucks everything up and blows the money.
  7. Verdict in the Johnson & Johnson opioid case in a few moments if you want to watch.
  8. I agree that she was way too kind, but you still can't insult (perceived or real) half of the population at the end of an election and not expect them to come out of the woodwork to vote against you and the party you represent. She called it like she saw it, and him, which on principle is great, but it doesn't help winning elections. She's never had the moral authority it requires to make those comments and not expect a tidal wave of a backlash. She, as well as a large proportion of this country, lack self awareness.
  9. Fair enough, but every time I see her Tweet something snarky, I think of the "Deplorables" speech. Sure, I completely agreed with it on a fundamental level, just like now, but that rallying cry to the GOP was a fatal move in these neck of the woods and cost some down ballot folks. People that at the time were Obama D's and would still consider voting for a good person on the state level with a D next to their name. I'm still pissed because I watched local polling drop like a stone after the "leader" of the democratic party shit on the voters needed to win in this part of the country and ultimately draw the lines in 2020. I will one day let it go.
  10. She needs to go the fuck away unless she's out raising money for the future nominee or the Senate/House PACs.
  11. I understand what you're saying, but dropping points at home to a relegation zone team isn't going to get us anywhere near top 4. Yes some weird shit happened, and I'm not dumping the season yet, but they have to respond well. I know its nuts that Rashford missed the penalty, but that miss, along with last weeks miss and subsequent abuse of Pogba online, are the things that can crush an already mentally fragile team. I still see this team as the one last year that was a dumpster fire mentally, without a strong leader on the field, or a manager that commands respect. Hopefully Maguire is that guy because he's the only one that wasn't part of that weak ass show. I'm saving my judgement for the next couple of weeks to see if they step up. There is a lot of belief which I love, but they lack the necessary character to channel it and sustain it when things start unraveling.
  12. Yep. Not great that he's now going to be in his head from that one. Along with Rashford missing that penalty, mentally, this team is in danger of serious problems. We'll see if they have character or fall apart like last season. Now is the time for Ole to earn his money. Couldn't be in a worse position after having belief getting the equalizer.
  13. Goooooooo oooooonnn!!!!!!! The kid James!!
  14. If this United team is worth a shit, they come back in the last ten. If not, long season ahead. This is when they do it.
  15. Holy shit! Rashford missed one. Fuck me. That gif is genius.
  16. Fucking penalty! Bullshit! Fuck yeah! Bring on Greenwood! Lingard had his chance, he's not good.
  17. Very meh first half with one piece of bad defending and down 0-1. Haven't played poorly, but our lack of a creative playmaker in the midfield is exposed when teams play deep and organized. Our speed is great for the counter, but if you can't get behind them, it's pointless. This should be the role of Lingard and why he's so fucking disappointing. He pressures well (whens he's not making stupid fouls), but he can't go at people in the middle or just inside the flanks. Juan Mata 4 years ago would be perfect for this match, but United don't have the talent any longer. Frustrating, but there will be a breakthrough. This is on Ole in the second half to find a way or sub that can create something and pull apart Palaces tight D. Come on United!!
  18. At least he admits he's sucked ass for United. Maybe Alexi and Pogba will follow suit and admit they've been stealing money.
  19. That's fair, and you're also trading one guy who doesn't want to be there for another. It appears Bale isn't the cancer Neymar has proven to be, but he's also not coming in to learn French and be one of the guys. Neymar is also young enough to snap out of being an ass if he wants to.
  20. The sponsors are going to be even more pissed when they realize they wasted a bunch of money on the 5th best and least watchable "big" league in Europe. That's seems crazy to not take that deal, but they've got petroleum/despot/slave labor money and don't give a shit. Also makes me think Real are freaking the fuck out with that kind of offer. Sure they want to get value for what they see as expendables, but that's a lot of talent for an incredible player who may/many not perform for more than a year. This is the year to try and knock off Barca.
  21. Atta boy. Stay aware and if the shakes and the physical stuff starts, don’t be hero and fight through it cold. Sipping low point beer is the best “medicine” to keep you from seizing or dying. I’m only saying this under the assumption your body is used to around a liter of alcohol a day. Especially late night the first night. Keep checking in and stay hydrated with water the best you can.
  22. NOT MEDICAL ADVICE, but I was back on a liter of vodka a day during my short 6 months out with the same anxiety/alcohol induced panic attacks and I was able to get sober safely. It's risky, but I too was determined not to go to treatment a second time. You can't go cold turkey or you very well might die, but it can be done. I grabbed a case of beer, some weed, a lot of water/gatorade, some Benadryl, and locked myself in the house for three days and slowly tapered off. Granted, I had been to treatment before, knew what to expect, had a friend check on me every 6 or so hours, was ready to get sober and surrender to the process, but it worked. It was a nasty, smelly 72 hours that I will never forget. I don't recommend it, you might hallucinate a little, but if you are truly ready to be done with this, you can. I walked into the first meeting I could physically make sober, shaky, and beat to hell, but everyone was happy to see me. I cried, thanked God and the group, and got on with it. The trick is truly being willing to stop, and surrender to the process. If I wasn't at that point, it wouldn't have stuck. I hope you are there, sincerely. I will say that if you're to the point where vodka is your go to buddy everyday, that shit will kill you quickly. It took me to a bad place in a hurry and I'm grateful I made it out alive. If you're like I was and can make it a weekend without vodka or hard liquor that is a great short term win, but the only victory is not walking back into the liquor store and starting the cycle again. Godspeed. Thanks for sharing, I need to be reminded of where I come from. Much love.
  23. Don't forget those 60 years were the MAGA years republicans dream about. It was horrible with all of that D control.
  24. Pogba has no business taking penalties away from Rashford. I'm assuming Ole was being a pussy and trying to stroke Pogba's ego. No clue why he actually let him take it. Rashford scored penalties in Paris against PSG and in a fucking World Cup for England and we all know how remarkable that is. He should be the man and better be for the rest of the season or this team will have problems. Lay down the law Ole. That was a huge 3pts missed indeed. Happy for the away point, but can't be letting these early gifts slip or it will be a long season.
