  1. Worry? They've got a former super power to pick up the slack for fucks sake. They'll get the message out just fine.
  2. Lulz. I wish I had a funny quip to respond with. It's been fucking painful to see the media and political scientists drop the ball on this. Sure, the regimes outright denial of our intelligence services findings help throw a big wrench in things, but it is amazing that we're two plus year into this and folks are just now "hearing" that it happened. Fun job for the next 16 months would be on the cyber warfare teams, assuming the regime hasn't already compromised our defenses. It appears the R's in congress haven't done much to bolster our defenses. Can't wait to read about Kamala's Underground Railroad for illegal immigrants. It's coming.
  3. They were all created in the same place or coordinated by the same leadership. That's how it works and why so many idiots and olds fell for it. The micro targeting done with the help of the Manafort polling data made it very effective. This was not a few Facebook ads as they say when trying to downplay it.
  4. His? It's the entirety of GOP policy, taxes not withstanding, they've always been cut and kill. This Iran thing is just a small part of making the liberal democracies of the world more isolated, less safe, and more unstable. It's been the plan all along, and it has taken an entire party of greedy fools led by a wanna be autocrat a couple of years to do it. The speed in which all of this is happening is mind blowing, but the chaos has just begun. You know why they call it a train wreck? It isn't because of the initial crash. It's due to the continued devastation from the inertia of thousands of pounds of weight that were once on a a well laid track slamming into everything around it. Elections have consequences and we have forgotten very quickly that so does actual foreign policy, diplomacy, and statecraft. We're right fucked for years.
  5. I get not wanting to go to England if you have a chance to play in Spain/Italy and live the good life, but to see "Hell no United" even as a last option stings...a lot.
  6. You shouldn't. He's not putting up $2 million because its the right thing to do, he wants to keep taxes low/regulation low etc. (unless you want to argue the merits of having two healthy parties in this country as a political necessity). He's putting up $2 million because the writing is on the wall for the next two insanely large voting blocks of generations coming up. If R's can't try to save some face in the racist/bigot/anti-everyone different arena, they're fucked for the future.
  7. Interesting. Lot of Chamber of Commerce type Republicans that realize this is necessary to maintain a party going forward, but never actually pony up the money to take on the crazies. Good for him for trying, but the infection is already to the bone in the Republican Party.
  8. Hey guys! United signed Aaron Wan-Bissaka from CP today. 50m Pounds for a 21 year old right back. I only watched a few Palace matches last year and I don't remember him so I don't know how good he is or will be, but we wouldn't fucking spend 60m last year to get a solid center back! This spending is so fucking sporadic and amateurish it is mind blowing. Harry Maguire is worth the 65m, but somehow United can get the deal done. Enjoy the tears fellas, they're real.
  9. Cool story. I have a buddy that was once a decently handsome Italian guy has gained weight and is slowly turning into Lovetz. We use this gif every time he updates his FB with a new selfie. My mind is gone. The letdown after Paris and knowing that we won't sign shit is a long term pain I don't wish on anyone.
  10. I can take it. It's been a fun 20 or so years. United will be back in a couple of years. Just need to be ready when Pep decides to leave. It will be fun trying to chase a proper club like Liverpool when they have their place at the top.
  11. Thats can't be a good sign for United. Signals to me that United can't get anyone to come play midfield with experience. I'm not against having Mata around to lead the dressing room and tutor young guys. He's as stand up a professional as they come, but he's not a midfield boss. They need to hurry the fuck up and sell Pogba to have a chance at getting a solid replacement this summer. Fuck Pogba. I can't imagine the shitshow if he's around next season. If he is, it will set the rebuild back another year. Who am I kidding? There is no proper rebuild with Woodward around. Fuck my football life. Edit. And the fact that Alexi hasn't been shipped out to China and the loss eaten by the club is infuriating. He's a cancer.
  12. Isreal has an election coming up that Netanyahu desperately needs to win to avoid jail. That makes more sense than anyone to me.
  13. Wow! That’s heavy, and big props to you for making it through. I knew I was slowly killing myself and I wanted a life because I couldn’t continue with the one I had and death was any day or alone and miserable. I was lucky to be caught in a moment where I saw that I had a chance and I took it. What you did takes strength beyond what I experienced. Love hearing stories like that. Cheers man.
  14. Atta boy Sparky. Your post and the one from Bear just made me reflect on going to treatment. 5 days is a massive deal and I got those first 5 in a facility trying to save my life. I remember when the haze started to lift thinking, “I don’t really belong here, I’m better than this, and what are the people back home saying about me?” I quickly remembered I was there because I couldn’t stop on my own. It’s not normal to plan my day around alcohol and most thoughts were about the next drink. I could be better than the version of me who was in there if I chose to let go and allow someone else guide me for a while. In time I realized the only people talking about me back home were the ones who loved me or had problems of their own. Only the former mattered from that day forward. It’s amazing how easy that part sorts itself out If you’re thinking about change and are scared, know that we were all freaking the fuck out. The scariest part is the ask for help. Everything after that is just a ride. Much love, happy days.
  15. I was too, guess I should've used an eye roll emoji. Fuckface. Hehe.
  16. Don't know, just found it. I liked the guitar and the pain in the lyrics. I guess I'm skewed by anything with a steel guitar that isn't talking about Coors light, big trucks, the lake, with a hip hop sounding hook. My bad.
  17. Bone Tomahawk. Kurt Russell is always a win. Western "mystery/thriller". One of the best death scenes in a movie. Mindless entertainment, some good dialog.
  18. Spot on. You're much more eloquent than I. I tend to get emotional and personal when talking about this stuff. I can only do this stuff from the heart and the gut.
  19. I thought I was very solid going in, but yes I also had a desire to be normal again. I knew I couldn't drink, but damn if I wasn't getting better. The experience I had with the professionals is that they all believed that you can beat what is wrong with you. The normal way of life that they all live, is that no matter what the circumstances, they have always been able to drink normally after going through depression, PTSD etc. There is some kind of medical cure for everything. Nothing wrong for them to think that, just I don't think they understood that I have to do things differently to stay sober. God bless them for trying, I hold nothing against them and am grateful for their efforts. Especially the pill lady, I learned a very valuable lesson from her that I try and pass on so others don't have to experience it. Basically, if you drink like I do, never under any circumstance take shit that messes with your brain chemistry. It's hell on earth.
  20. BBQ2. My personal experience is it can be wonderful and horrible all at the same time. I was almost two years sober and doing quite well. I went in to therapy to help a family member deal with their severe PTSD . That part was fantastic and I couldn't have done it without being sober. It opened up a lot of things that helped mend the relationship between my father and I, while also giving him the ability to breathe in his own life. Poor guy had a shit upbringing and managed to keep us safe and relatively sane throughout my life. I also learned a lot about my own traumas and I was offered help to work on myself. I agreed, and off I went pealing back the onion. This part was the wonderful part as I had never faced down my shit. I dug deep and made some huge strides emotionally and within my relationships. I finally understood why I was so insecure/fearful/anxious etc. All of these things that I had been given relief from because of working the steps and getting sober, were now something I could get over, get past forever. I slowly stopped going to meetings because I was working on myself. Thats when the thoughts came. If I can beat this, I can beat the booze. I've climbed a mountain of fear, shame, and guilt and kicked it's ass. There was also a nudge from the psychologist that maybe it was just the PTSD that caused my drinking. Maybe if I found new community outside of AA, I could live my life normally again. I asked a Dr. friend his opinion, and he concurred that there are plenty of ways to drink normally. So, I did drink a little and nothing happened at first. Nothing fell apart. I was working the therapy and I was moving on with my life. Then came a series of small outside events that brought me down a bit, and bam! Just like that it was time to stop the feelings and the wave of depression and anxiety came back like never before. I didn't wait very long and told my therapist I was having suicidal thoughts and I couldn't sleep again. Just like that she sent me to a psychiatrist and here came the pills. Even though I told the new lady I was not sober, I got a regime of anti anxiety/anti depressants/non narcotic sleep aid. I don't know if anyone has ever drank on that cocktail before, but it will send you to the fucking funny farm. I was full on delusional and worse than ever before. I've never experienced darkness like that, even the time I spent nine months trying to drink myself to death. I was fucked, and by a series of small miracles and getting my ass kicked again I walked back into AA and I've never been better. No pills, no therapy, no bullshit. I am sure that the PTSD of my childhood helped spur my drinking. I am sure that the strange home life that lacked normal relationships allowed for the booze to be more effective. I am positive that therapy worked for my father to heal his wounds. I had made so much progress and gained so much self knowledge that I forgot how I was able to do it in the first place. I had given up alcohol and surrendered my will to a higher power. Therapy allowed me to take back control of my life and it was a fucking nightmare. There is nothing wrong with therapy and pills if they are prescribed by folks who truly understand addiction. I am not militant on that shit, find what works for you. I just know that I opened myself up to being "normal" again and it almost killed me. I am an alcoholic, I can't drink, and I pray that my higher power will grant me another day of peace and happiness. God speed and do what you need to do, just don't change whatever it is you are dong that got you out of hell and into the good place. Much love.
  21. It is certainly an honorable choice in my view, but I have no ties to the Basque Country. I didn't know shit about Spain when I first went to study there. My first match was the 3rd day I was in the country, Depor/United. I went with the United away fans I had met in the bar on the train from Madrid. From that day I have been a supporter of Depor and United, though most of my Spanish friends are Celta fans. Then its always your "other" team, Madrid or Barca. Purely political and/or geographical. My ex FIL was full on Madrid, which sucked, but he made a good life for himself coming up under Franco. Greatest sports moment of my life and I've been to OU/TX, watched a MNC win at the Orange Bowl in college. Though United lost, it was a moment and feeling that can never be replicated. All this reminiscing made me go find the highlights. Magical fucking night. We were so drunk we wondered into a swanky bar in downtown La Coruna after the match. The President of Depor, Lendoiro, and his entourage rolled in ten minutes later a proceeded to get smashed with us. We got pics together and he picked up the tab.
  22. Most likely not the thread for it but isnt most of that conspiracy and exaggeration...not franco regime but the stories of him helping/making real win...believe real has 1 more title than barca during regime and barca had 5 to real 0 1939 to 53 when regime was at its most repressive...per reports/articles I'm sure there is some revisionist history that says otherwise, but from the stories I was told from old timers, there was pressure applied to players in the form of threats made to the families about the type of military service, jobs, shake downs, monitoring, and jail if anyone in the family were found to be holding ideas against the regime. You have to remember that people disappeared all the time during Franco. I'm sure it was fine for the Spaniards, but for the Basque, Catalons, Gallegos, and the non fascists it was not so fun. The whole Franco era still doesn't get spoken about much in Spain, but you hear random anecdotes when folks get drunk. My friends father played for Celta back in the early 60s and scored twice against Madrid in an exhibition. Di Stafano even came over to compliment the 17 year old after the match about what a talent he was. By the time he got back to Vigo his brother was locked up on political charges because he was a dock worker and was said to be talking about Unions. Two weeks later their house mysteriously burned down. Six months later he was "offered" his military service in the Navy so his family would be left alone. Dude got injured during his service and never got to play again. Whole point of that story is that Franco's Spain was fucked up if you weren't one of them. The regime most certainly pumped in money, resources, and civilian pressure Madrids way to secure players, facilities, and an advantage against its rivals.
  23. Sounds about right. Spain knows plenty about the autocratic state having it's own club, except it was even worse. Fuck Madrid and fuck all their European trophies during Franco.
