  1. I just returned to South Korea yesterday after 16 days in the USA. Interesting to see the change in a couple weeks. When I left there had only been a few cases like the USA, but while I was gone it started spreading quickly. First flight back here was canceled (Japan Airlines), but I was able to fly American Airlines over. The flight over to the USA was full; however, on the flight back every single passenger had 3 seats to themselves. You could nap laying down. The airport immigration is usually 10-15 minute wait. Most stations were closed, I waited less than 2 minutes. They had temperature cameras set up and people in full body suits between the gates and immigration. The only people getting special attention were the Chinese who had to go through a different line, and the people with body suits, to enter. I was actually surprised how easy it was to enter, if you were not Chinese. Pretty much business as usual for non-Chinese travelers. I flew to Seoul then took the high speed train to where I live, since my city flies through Tokyo when you go east to the USA and Japan suspended all flights to S. Korea. If I flew there, I would have had to wait a day, so it was faster just to take train down from Seoul. The KTX (high speed train) was almost empty. Of 15 cars, only 2-3 had people and those cars were like 15-20% full. The subways/buses I have taken the last couple days were also very empty, like 10% of capacity. Everyone has a mask (99%). Masks were already in high supply here as people often wear them when sick here and/or on days when the pollution that blows over from China is very bad. Though the average mask is not going to be very effective keeping you safe from infection, they are much better at keeping a sick person wearing one from passing it on. So everyone wearing one should help a lot. Hand sanitizer is provided at many businesses for people entering and exiting the building. A lot of businesses are closed or open only during the busiest part of the day and are extremely slow even then. Schools are suspended 3 weeks. My employer requires a mask to enter the building. Everyone spends as much time as they can isolated at home for the most part.
  2. Back in those days the top schools could have well over a hundred guys on scholarship and bogart all the top talent. Some teams prior to 1973 had over 150 players on scholarship as it was only limited by what you could afford. In 1973 schools were limited to 105 scholarships (to free up money for women's sports), in 1978 to 95, then later in 1992 to 85. It was easier to be very dominant pre-1990, and especially before 1978.
  3. Looks like the future is a bunch of office workers with thighs like Earl Campbell.
  4. Hey I have not checked out this thread for awhile...
  5. It would be fucking hilarious if they successfully argue that a president, who is not convicted in an impeachment trial, should get a 3rd term, due to the distraction, which allows Bill Clinton to run again and win. Limbaugh's head would explode.
  6. Trump wins this easy. His belly would already be touching the floor in the up position. He would just move his arms up and down like a floundering turtle.
  7. If he is God's true son, then God is a shit bag.
  8. Haha, had that one too. Used to get intentionally sacked back to the 1 yard line and try to get 99 yard TDs.
  9. Yes. This was my first video football game...
  10. Who knew it was the insurance companies on the grassy knoll the whole damn time!
  11. That and Saudi Arabia will make him an actual billionaire if he does their bidding like a good little bitch.
  12. Obama was such a disappointment. He came in preaching change and just rolled over the last part of his presidency. He was a solid president, but he changed little, after talking such a big game in 2008. Obamacare was even a Republican plan previously. The only guy who went to jail for the financial crisis was a whistle-blower. Good luck seeing anyone from the financial sector do that again. IMO, If you want major change, don't vote for any candidate that got a degree from an Ivy League school. The connections they make there are exactly the people who will be hurt most by changes to help the majority of Americans. Lately, that is where almost all our presidents have attended. Previously they came from a much wider variety of schools. Since 1988, all our presidents received a degree from an Ivy league school: Trump (Penn), Obama (Columbia and Yale), Bush II (Yale and Harvard), Clinton (Yale), and Bush I (Yale). During that time we have been in several wars, income equality has risen steeply, the money floodgates were opened for the rich and corporations to heavily influence our elections, banking regulations were weakened and not enforced properly, taxes keep getting lowered on the rich and corporations, etc.
  13. The real gateway drug is cigarettes, but politicians won't touch that one since the tobacco lobby makes it rain.
  14. Poll from AP/Norc/USAFacts says social media is the most popular source of daily government information: Other highlights:
  15. She wants to. She is putting out that she is being "pressured" to jump in, hoping there will be an outpouring of support. I don't see that happening though. Her window has closed.
  16. Trump did not release the Ukraine aid. State Department lawyers determined that it could be released and that the White House had no standing to hold it up. Bolton in the middle of it. His testimony could be key.
  17. Must have used Trump's pollsters.
  18. Nice list of the biggest orange lipped members of the GoP. The fan reaction gives me some hope that maybe I won't need to extend my stay in Asia another four years.
  19. I think we would only have picked up the Coastal Carolina game as a win with Dearmon calling plays. Maybe WVU, but we kind of lucked into the win vs. Tech with the bonehead play at the end. I'll keep that WVU game as an L due to that. So 4-4 with a good shot at a bowl game. Dearmon has made a hell of a difference in our offense. I just hope it continues and he can adapt once other teams get a good amount of film on his schemes. KU has an outside shot at a bowl game this year, which I would never have expected at the start of this season. I thought 3 wins was our ceiling, and probably was if Koenning was still OC. We have some good WRs and some strong RBs. Stanley should have been starting the last couple years, but that dumb ass Beaty could never see it. I think every season by the end, Stanley was starting; but, only after whatever QB Beaty had brought in that year to be the starter, shit the bed. The OL is still not very good, but Stanley has mobility and with our RBs playing well, other teams have to respect the run. The defense is doing better than I expected, considering how depleted we are there. Until we get some depth and some DL talent it will constantly struggle. Special teams are terrible again. Our FG/PAT team is the worst I have ever seen. How many blocked kicks and missed FG/PATs do we have this season? Probably due again to our lack of talent on the OL. The kicker is probably crap as well, but hard to judge when the OL is being pushed back into him. Special teams will continue to suck until we get some talented depth or play more starters on them. To take a big step forward we have to get some talent and depth on the defensive and offensive lines.
  20. If my hours of playing DotA2 with Russians taught me anything, it is that Russians love to call people dogs when they are unhappy. Maybe he picked it up over the years from all the Russians he has helped launder cash for over the last few decades. Maybe he heard Putin use it and wants to emulate him. Who knows. Looked it up: In the Russian Orthodox past, the dog was considered an unclean animal, as elsewhere in the world. Now, “dog” serves as an abusive interjection, when one wants to express annoyance. Calling someone a dog would mean you disapprove: “My cat has knocked over the flower pots again, the dog!”
  21. For those of us are college sports fans, the final tally by conference (some states count in multiple conferences): SEC (34), ACC (19), B12 (14), B1G (12), and Pac (5).
  22. Pence, if he comes out of this unscathed, to a resigning or voted out Trump, "About that pardon? Psych!! Keep your butthole tight!"
  23. In South Korea, I have eaten Australian and American beef (it is marked on all the beef for sale where it is from). South Korean as well. There is no difference in the taste of the Australian and American beef. The South Korean beef is better, probably due to being fresher than the imported beef, but it costs twice as much as well.
