Ole sparkle cake is back up and running. Had a few loads to shake the new motor down. So far so good.

but now I’m looking at changing companies again. My current company is down to one active customer and they don’t have enough to keep company trucks and owner ops moving at the same time.

I been talking to Stage Call and will be trying out the entertainment industry for a while. Seems like the only thing that slows them down is global pandemics. (Damn I probably shouldn’t have said that)

Should have gotten into that when Taylor Swift was handing out $100k bonuses to her truck drivers.

Not just recapturing the House, but remember that each House delegation votes as a bloc if no one gets 270.  Someone like Peltola is a vote on her own, she is the entire Alaska House delegation.

But I don't think everyone's fear is going to happen.  This will be resolved before mid-December and Harris will win by enough EVs to make it moot.  Even if GA or AZ won't certify (which they eventually will), she still wins 276-235 with 27 holdouts.  Nevada and the Blue Wall states will all certify, because they have Dem SOS or Dem courts to back them up.

Why wouldn’t AZ certify? They have a D SOS.

Pictures of this plane from the charter operator doesn’t show the Trump 2024 or American flag by the door. The plane was in Bozeman at some point over the weekend, so he could have used it, but I’m not sold on that photo not being doctored. Are there any other sources on this?

However, zero people stop at the four-way signs at Hillview/Greenlee or Greenlee/Pecos.  All cars slow down a bit and then go, but no one comes to a complete stop.  I have to cross Pecos on my walk and if there is a car I always make sure the driver is looking at me before I cross.

I grew up off of Greenlee and my best friend grew up directly on Greenlee. The stop sign at Greenlee/Pecos was installed when we were in our teens and we decided that we were grandfathered in and didn’t have to stop at it. Thirty years later, I stop at it, but it seems like a lot of people think like dumbass 16 year old me thought.

WTF is a "post-birth abortion" and in what world do Democrats support the execution of a baby?

This one drives me nuts. The GQP stooges repeat this shit over and over and over again and the media never fact checks them or asks a clarifying question. It’s so damn ridiculous and they just let these morons repeat it over and over so that their dumbass followers believe that democrats want the murder of newborns to be legal. It’s absolutely ridiculous and half the country believes this shit.

Ditto. There's a new one making the rounds on Facebook today.  It really would be nice to see the Dems trot out a series of veterans at the convention to speak in support of Walls.

They have Buttigieg on every news channel speaking in support of him. Mark Kelly doing the same. Those are two pretty high profile veterans.

Agreed in the sense that a company can certainly spend more cash in any one period than NP.  My example was a simplification.  Companies can lose money and still pay a dividend.

Adding buybacks and dividends to net profits is nonsensical.  Neither are deductible expenses so what point is the sum?

The point is that money is being used to put money into the wallets of shareholders instead of reinvesting into the the health of citizens.

Because our healthcare system is plagued with middlemen and shareholders that are eager to add fees and take percentages?

    Yep.

    2023 Full Year Profit
United Healthcare $23 billion plus $14.8 billion in share repurchases and dividends

CVS Aetna $8 billion plus $3 billion in dividends

Elevance (Anthem) $6 billion and also repurchased $2.7 billion worth of shares and had a $350 million dividend

Cigna $5 billion plus $2.3 billion share repurchase plus dividends

And on and on and on….

I smashed a Sonic waitress about 10 months ago, she was in her late 30s and worked the morning shift. I stopped by to get a breakfast burrito and iced coffee for my kid and got a number.

Three days later after taking the Sonic waitress out...

Were you under the impression that I was demanding she come out? Were you under the impression that I thought she was going to be living in the White House? I'm not expecting her to give speeches or anything like that. Out and open existence is in itself important.

Yes, I was unaware of Emma Emhoff's entire existence. I think this may be the first time "Emma Emhoff" has ever appeared on Surly. I must confess I have paid almost no attention to the Second Gentleman, beyond being aware of his advocacy for reproductive rights, so I've paid even less attention to the rest of his family, like most of America. I appreciate you informing me! That's rad as fuck.

But you're being a dick about this.

I’m really sorry you think I’m being a dick. Your comment struck me as strange and rubbed me the wrong way. Hope seems like an amazing kid, but she deserves privacy and online speculation about her personal life feels icky to me.

brb, gonna start a psychiatric hospital and charging half the rate.

Get ready to lose your ass. Providing proper mental health care in an inpatient setting is incredibly expensive and resource heavy. That’s part of the reason it’s so shitty in this country. We treat it like a profit center for an acute episode rather than treating the patient properly and recognizing the long term benefits to society of good mental health.
