  1. Good article from MarketWatch about the Fed and the e-dollar https://www.marketwatch.com/story/why-the-coming-recession-could-force-the-federal-reserve-to-swap-greenbacks-for-digital-dollars-2019-09-06
  2. Yeah, I wonder why she doesn't want to play hardball with the PM
  3. https://www.markiteconomics.com/Public/Home/PressRelease/8d045df65df54d4694039324224684e0 Flash U.S. Manufacturing PMI at 49.9 (50.4 in July). 119-month low. I for one, welcome our new bear overlords.

  5. Other stories that made me laugh, damn I miss Leach (Tech grad here) Anderson: Say you’re warming up and throwing routes to a receiver and you ground one about five yards in front of the guy. He would go, “Hey, you’re throwing that shit off your back foot, you’ve got to get your dick into it. Point your dick at him.” Tuel: I think the most entertaining thing during my time at Washington State was watching coach Leach teach a three-step and five-step drop. That was some of the better stuff I’ve seen on that field. I mean, what do you think it looks like? Picture in your head what Mike Leach doing a three-step or five-step drop looks like, and that’s exactly what it looks like. Just the exact opposite of graceful. Neville: I remember during fall camp last year he had a pretty big dip in. During fall camp that man puts like half a can in his mouth. It’s insane. But anyways, he was so concentrated on the film that he had his coffee in one cup and his spitter in the other way. He spat in his coffee with his dip in his mouth, took his dip out and then drank his coffee. He spit in it like two or three times and didn’t even know it. Me and Casey were like, “What the fuck did he just do?
  6. Yep, that's what I said. No idea what all the psychobabble above is about, and really don't care. /putting him back on ignore.
  7. So maybe on 2 of the 6 that are getting drained. But McQueeney is not being considered yet, and has more property value than the other 5 combined.
  8. Yep, but it lost a little of it’s luster when they removed the MSG from the spicy.
  9. So if they do this we would have deflation followed by inflation? Or are they going to do these two things together and try to cancel the effects out?
  10. I don't have anything against the boglehead club, but you would have to be the most unlucky SOB in history to ride out all the ups and downs of the market for 39 years ****EXCEPT**** for these handful of extremely good days. If there were a graph showing the most lucky SOB in all history (holding for 39 years except being lucky enough to avoid the 5 -50 worst days) you would see the same effect in the upward direction.

  12. Too bad we don't have a way of monitoring global supply/inventory https://www.cnbc.com/2019/08/02/millions-of-barrels-of-iranian-crude-are-sitting-in-chinese-ports.html Estimates as to the volume of Iranian crude that’s made its way to China between last January and May vary from 12 million to 14 million barrels. China keeps the crude in “bonded storage,” which means the oil has not been cleared through Chinese customs and is not being used, therefore not yet violating U.S. sanctions Oil could fall by $5 to $7 a barrel if China were to draw down on these stored volumes, one expert told CNBC.
  13. Is this where we post about fake hate crime against cops? https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime/a-cop-accused-mcdonalds-employees-of-taking-a-bite-out-of-his-sandwich-turns-out-he-forgot-he-ate-it/ar-AAF0HGw A cop accused McDonald’s employees of taking a bite out of his sandwich. Turns out, he ‘forgot’ he ate it. The investigation started with a McDonald’s sandwich. As he was starting his shift earlier this month, a police officer with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in Indianapolis went to heat up his McChicken and fries when he found some unsettling evidence: Someone had taken a bite out of his meal. “I know I didn’t eat it,” the cop, who identified himself to the press only as “DJ,” told WTHR at the time. “I said, ‘You know what? I am going to the McDonald’s to see if they can get that taken care of.’” The claim happened during a simmering summer for police nationwide, as a viral trend of dumping water on officers fuels claims from unions in New York and elsewhere that disrespect for officers has reached a boiling point. DJ had similar fears when he arrived at the McDonald’s outside downtown Indianapolis. The store offered him free food, but he said he couldn’t care less about extra fries or more burgers. The police officer suspected an employee was targeting him because he was a cop, and he wanted justice for his McChicken. “I just wanted to find out who the person was and they deal with that person in an appropriate way,” he told WTHR. Both McDonald’s and the sheriff’s office launched full investigations to find the truth. But on Friday, police found that the culprit was not an employee who wanted to mess with law enforcement. Instead, DJ simply forgot that he had already taken a bite out of the McChicken. “The employee took a bite out of the sandwich upon starting his shift at the Marion County Jail, then placed it in the refrigerator in a break room,” police said in a statement, according to WTHR. “He returned nearly seven hours later having forgotten that he had previously bitten the sandwich.” The sheriff’s office added: “He wrongly concluded that a McDonald’s restaurant employee had tampered with his food because he is a law enforcement officer.” The officer has now formally apologized to McDonald’s for the false accusation, police said.
  14. Just so hateful: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/west-palm-beach-playing-baby-shark-on-loop-to-drive-homeless-people-away/ Officials in West Palm Beach have a new way to keep homeless people from laying around the city's Lake Pavilion: "Baby Shark." The extremely popular – and extremely repetitive – children's song can be heard playing on loop all night long around the pavilion, The Palm Beach Post reports. In addition to "Baby Shark," the city is also playing another children's hit, "Raining Tacos." It won't be raining tacos for the people who sleep around the pavilion — unless they can withstand this potent musical deterrent. The tactic is reminiscent of the blaring music once used by American interrogators to torment prisoners in the war on terror in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay. Local officials are trying to stop homeless people from congregating around the glass-walled waterfront pavilion overlooking the town's Great Lawn. The venue hosted 164 events over the past year, from weddings to business meetings, bar mitzvahs and birthday parties. The city expects the event space will make $240,000 this year. Leah Rockwell, the city's Parks and Recreation director, said event staff and customers shouldn't have to trip over bodies when they're setting up an event in the early morning hours. Likewise, a bride shouldn't have to walk over a sleeping person when she leaves her party at midnight, Rockwell said. "People are paying a lot of money to use the facility. Thousands of dollars," Rockwell told The Palm Beach Post. "We want to make sure people paying this money had a facility that was clean and open and continue to use it in the future." In an emailed statement to CBS News, a city spokesperson confirmed music is played on the Great Lawn during the day and at night as a "temporary measure." "Music is also played overnight on a loop by our pavilion to discourage congregating and, if appropriate, to encourage people to seek safer, more appropriate shelter through the many resources that are available," the statement read. "The music volume complies with City code, and we are exploring the possibility of having set hours for the Great Lawn and pavilion." By choosing the songs "Baby Shark" and "Raining Tacos," it seems officials learned from the mistake of another municipality. The City of Lake Worth tried using classical music to drive homeless people away from the town's Cultural Plaza — but they ended up liking the songs.
  15. I'm pretty sure that is his normal demeanor. That jacket is a dead giveaway.
