  1. Is that the Sibley dude? He holds himself out to be some kind of GI Joe Ranger ooah dude. That's taking it a bit far.
  2. What happens is there are additional court procedures by which one can engage in discovery to locate assets and to seize them. These usually take place in state courts, even with a federal judgment. One of the fundamental ones is usually called "execution." First, you take your judgment and record it as a lien in every county where you think Rudy holds property. Like other liens, he can't dispose of the property without paying off the lien. That's passive. But you can also ask the county sheriff or other official according to state law to seize the property and sell it at a "sheriff's sale," very similar to a foreclosure sale on a mortgage. There are various other schemes for seizing cash and liquid assets. if you happen to know where he keeps his accounts/money, that can be very effective and doesn't have the discount problem that sheriff's sales have. If the defendant is wily or astute, or a flaming dickhead like Alex Jones, s/he will legitimately and illegitimately hold no property in his own name, but rather in trusts and other entities that require extra proof to demonstrate that they are actually the defendant's property. Collecting a judgment in this manner can be costly and a pain in the ass.
  3. Why not just get one of the newer Chromecasts? We have those on the older TV's without the Google interface pre-installed and love it. That's what I mean, another CC or something else? My first tendency would be another one just due to familiarity and casting. But google. Also kind of anti-amazon for similar reasons, so Roku would probably be second choice, and I think it's probably "friendlier" but less configurable.
  4. One of the common features of addiction is a pretty high degree of self-regard or self-involvement. From my own experience and observed experience, it's not necessarily flat out selfishness or narcissism. It stems from being overly sensitive to your own feelings and lacking coping mechanisms, which in turn leads to use of chemical coping mechanisms, which in turn creates an illusion on the part of the addict that s/he can control things, like their feelings (as by taking drugs/drinking), and an incredible frustration when they cannot control things, both internal and external. So, take away a person's chemical coping mechanism and they can become pretty crazy for a while. The point of AA and other therapy is to create other coping mechanisms and redirect that self-regard. ETA: I have to think acting and other performing arts type things can be hugely crazy-making, because they feed that self-importance and self-regard. I think you have to be pretty mentally healthy not to go a bit bonkers in that occupation and I think the immaturity of child stars makes them particularly susceptible.
  5. Ketamine, although a recreational drug, has therapeutic uses in the treatment of depression. It is an anesthetic, basically. Bupenorphine is a basically low dose opioid used to treat opioid addicts. Think methadone. It fills those opioid receptors, stopping craving and dopesickness, but doesn't create a euphoria, or high. The addiction community would probably quibble pretty seriously about sobriety/recovery while "doing drugs," even under a doctor's care. But, technically, it would appear that he was sober and in recovery when he died. ETA: Or not, as it appears from subsequent posts that his ketamine use was recreational.
  6. Madi is not the only wicked server. Until last night, she didn't really stand out among several. They may not ace all the time, but Akana and Halter coax some pretty bad receives most of the time.
  7. Something out of Idiocracy and Robocop (and probably Rollerball) at the current rate.
  8. Not in one of the pending criminal cases, no. Unless the Mar A Lago indictment is amended/superseded again, which probably won't happen because that would delay things still further. Obviously, they are investigating, but the reportage indicates this is far away from any indictable offense against Donald J. Trump. And, in criminal cases (especially, but civil too), you don't get to wander around unindicted/unplead miscellaneous "other bad acts" in an attempt to prove the indicted or plead bad acts, except in very limited circumstances. One way some small amount of this might come in on the Mar A Lago case would be if he tried to contend he mentally declassified all this stuff. His efforts to declassify Crossfire Hurricane material would demonstrate that he knows that is neither true nor actually possible.
  9. On the additional "boxes," I have an OG Chromecast and am content with it, but I suppose it will stop working before long as they are no longer supported. So, I guess leg up to Chromecast for familiarity. Other than Apple TV, should I seriously consider Roku or Firestick? I am particularly fond of using the casting feature to send music to tv and out to high quality stereo receiver DSP. Not sure I can really duplicate that with any of the others.
  10. Here and on the election/voting threads, as well. And happy belated birthday, my dude.
  11. Also I would not assume that because he is doing well in mechanical engineering that he would do well in EE or CS, EE is very abstract and theoretical and the aptitudes can be somewhat different. Kid sounds like he has some inborn mechanical aptitude and is enjoying and succeeding at the theoretical underpinnings. That may not hold true for another engineering degree.
  12. None of that is currently the subject of trump's criminal cases.
  13. People don't really look at their income that hard. You see a paystub or an online deposit slip that's bigger and ok, cool. Maybe you look at your brokerage accounts every now and then, ok cool. But you buy gas and groceries every couple of weeks and get a constant reminder of that, and it's ok fuck that.
  14. Seems like they got a bit of a gimme with Pitt. Battle tested vs. young.
  15. Man, they sure pumped up the "human interest" angle on her tonight. I'm liking her a lot better as a person. I don't think I have seen a back-row attack as effective as she is, evar. They're usually kind of hit or miss. ETA: My earlier comment disliking this team I think centered on what felt like all the mercenary talent (as if we didn't win it last year on mercenaries, but at least mostly from lesser programs). Wenaas was pissing me off, Madi was kind of pissing me off. Grrr. They also seemed a little extra lackadaisical during B12 play. But, man, they have turned it up since Tennessee.
  16. Happy for Elliott, too. I guess in part because of the portal, he's done three different things over the past few years that seem to have turned our worm: The emphasis on serving Getting quality DS/libero Top quality setter I guess there's some luck involved, but the last couple of years I don't feel outclassed when we get to this level of competiton, which was a perennial thing for most of the last 10-11 years.
  17. Fuck you Corn. We're comin, and hell's comin with us!
  18. Somehow, with Swindle setting flat-footed, I feel like we're more in control.
  19. And Asjia. Really amazing team performance, really.
  20. Looks like a complete knuckler to me.
  21. Probably shouldn't challenge on a hitter's word.
  22. Baby Spice gonna make us forget all about Zoe Fleck before she's done.
