  1. MF just hits different. Wonderful. And that storefront shot is perfect for Portra.
  2. As said above, it can easily cost a million just to construct all the parts to put a car together. They of course have spares of everything, but they still have to now spend more time and money to replace those. Something like a monocoque takes a TON of labor hours to layup carbon for (though it’s possible they may not make a new one if they feel that they have enough current extras, since most teams are carrying over monocoques from last year because of the token system). Outside of the straight cash cost, all labor time they spend doing those things they can’t use doing other things or building improved parts. All of that said, the actual biggest issue would be if the power unit is not still usable. That would cause them to have to take an engine penalty later. But, we will see.
  3. Jolyon Palmer always has solid analysis. This was a good one. Gives good insight into what drivers are probably thinking at certain times. I had also forgotten about that Grojean/Sainz incident in 2018.
  4. This is actually a great synopsis: Copied text, bold emphasis mine: Verstappen vs Hamilton: • Verstappen ran wide in turn 1 to hold onto P1 at the start of the race: https://i.imgur.com/ontotHf.jpg • If Verstappen and Hamilton's positions were reversed in this position: https://i.imgur.com/I0yxBot.jpg Verstappen would have 100% dive bombed and forced his way through aggressively. • Verstappen defended out of turn 5 and then moved across (angling his car at Hamilton) and had a tiny tiny bit of contact down the straight towards turn 6: https://i.imgur.com/krv4YuI.jpg • At this point here https://i.imgur.com/iH6i7Ug.jpg Verstappen knew Hamilton was alongside so he knew that he had to give Hamilton room as per the rules, yet at this point: https://i.imgur.com/kSSHM6q.jpg he thought Hamilton had yielded and went for the turn in without thinking. Verstappen lifts off much earlier for the corner as you can see https://i.imgur.com/YT5PZyR.jpg Hamilton is very very easily alongside as shown in this edit: https://i.imgur.com/1VZiqUc.jpg but they are taking different lines into the corner because of the speed & position they are in, their lines are bound to cross: https://i.imgur.com/InrigS0.jpg, Verstappen had a lot more room that he could have given: https://i.imgur.com/sZyGIYI.jpg. Both drivers could have avoided the accident, Verstappen could have given more room and ran to the outside and ran over the run off. I'm just glad both drivers are okay. If we look at Barcelona earlier in the year, the race yesterday or even Imola... Verstappen has been on the same position as Hamilton was today and he never backed out of any of them. Instead Hamilton backed out to avoid the accidents; something which Verstappen could have done today. Lando vs Hamilton • Lando was also in Verstappens position and he backed out of it as Hamilton had got along side much earlier on in the straight Leclerc vs Hamilton • Leclerc in Verstappens position gave Hamilton the room he deserved, given that he was along side and he tried to stick it out on the outside of the corner to see if he can defend in that corner. He couldn't and he ran wide. Beautifully handled and unfortunate that he had a snap of the rear. Alonso vs Vettel: 2014 • Alonso, who was in Verstappens position backed out of the corner much much earlier because he knew the car on the inside (Vettel) had the position claimed already.
  5. Lewis has backed out of every single close incident with Max so far this season (Imola, Barcelona T1, other smaller incidents), until today. I can’t even recall a single time that Max has yielded, ever. He’s the most aggressive driver on the grid. Hell, even just two corners earlier Lewis gave tons of room at Brooklands.
  6. Horner: “No oNe pAsSeS aT cOpSe!!1!” Awkward.
  7. Have to agree here. The front wheels also hit which straightened up the steering a bit too, making it seem like he wasn’t going to hit the apex. And yeah, Max is aggressive to the limit every time, so this was always going to happen at some point. Hell, he even went off track at T1 while defending.
  8. Yeah, the reason I don’t like it is that it renders actual qualifying much less important, which makes me a bit sad, because I really enjoy the current qualifying format. I think that qualifying and racing should be two separate things, as they have always been. They are two different skill sets. Some cars might otherwise start higher or lower on the grid than they probably should because of qualifying. The sprint race negates a lot of that. If they did say FP1 and a sprint race on Friday, FP2 and regular qualifying on Saturday, and the normal race on Sunday, I could deal with it, though I still prefer the weekend format as is. I just really don’t want the sprint race tied to any kind of qualifying order. Like you said, a lot of the questions we would traditionally have pre-race might now be gone. Teams pretty much know that a 2 stop is likely necessary already. Even with the free tire choice, I think it will remove tire parity, because teams don’t have to worry about what they use in Q2 whatsoever anymore.
  9. Don’t forget, ICE could stick around longer with synthetic fuels. I don’t think it’s the final answer, though.
  10. Yeah, it never makes any damn sense. I suppose it helps that they have zero context behind the shots. Sometimes you “win” by getting an incredibly easy shot that you didn’t have to work for, and people like it. Sometimes you “lose” by working your ass off for one, and no one gives a fuck. It’s weird. I really like the Mom’s shot.
  11. That one uses several shots for the sky at I think 30 seconds each (I think like 6-8, I forget since it has been several years), which are then stacked on top of each other to reduce the noise in the image and make it look as best as possible. Then that the foreground is a separate shorter exposure that I don’t remember the exposure time for, but probably also 15-30 seconds. So, it’s a composite image, but the camera didn’t move for any of the shots and the view is the same for all of them, it’s just taking several of them and stacking them together. There is not any artificial light on the Watchman or anything, it’s just a longer exposure.
  12. What device were you using? Some are only playing 1440p (even though the channel is still the 4K channel) since they can’t display the VP9 codec at 4k60. The fox sports app had it in true HDR apparently, which makes an even bigger difference, but I missed that.
  13. Few more Walter’s Wiggles Great White Throne from Observation Point (I think) Canyon Overlook is the upper right of the ridge in this photo. Great sunrise hike. Not a great sunset hike. Checkerboard Mesa (you can hike on the west side of this up to a saddle that continues into a canyon erring route; hiking up to the saddle is nice) This is from the Kolob Canyons area Off of SR-9 in the eastern part of the park Canyon Overlook trail Scout Lookout at the base of the climb up Angel’s Landing Looking into the start of the narrows The trail to observation point and hidden canyon (this is the trail that’s still closed due to rockfall) Watchman at sunset
  14. Tbh, Zion is a mess right now. It’s overflowing with people and they just had a flash flood a week or so ago. Getting into the main canyon is a cluster because you have to obtain a ticket for the shuttle and they can be kind of hard to get. The main canyon access trail to hidden canyon and observation point trail is still closed, but as someone else mentioned, you can still access observation point from a longer hike starting just inside the east entrance. You can park anywhere on the eastern part of SR9 and pretty much go explore any of those side canyons. Or, you can go west on SR9 (out the south entrance) and north on I-15 and visit the Kolob Canyons section. There’s several hikes in that area and it is incredibly less crowded. It’s a bit of a different look, since you’re outside the main canyon, but it’s still great. Here’s a few general photos. Angel’s Landing Hidden Canyon (still closed, which sucks because this hike is great) Narrows Virgin River near end of the Riverside Walk trail (which leads to the narrows) The Watchman The Subway. Permit is required. I took one photo with the nice camera because there was so much goddamn water when I did this hike in April. So, pro tip, do not do this hike in spring when the runoff makes it insane.
  15. Made for a very short time in 1951 between the names Broadcaster and Telecaster (while the lawsuit with Gretch was ongoing). They basically just had no model name. Broadcasters are extremely rare too, of course.
  16. The ASG does look nice in 4K. Gimme dat 5.1!
  17. Taking the Extreme Contact name literally!
  18. I might get back into it when that comes out, though I’d be on console.
  19. I need to find a cool spot near FW to spot it this time.
