  1. I totally agree. I don’t think they ever really cared to make them smaller or lighter either, however. Canon New F-1: 895g Canon EOS-1: 890g Canon EOS-5D Mark IV: 890g Canon R5: 738g The R5 comes out to just over 5oz lighter than the 5DIV, which isn’t even a huge difference really. Then of course you get to the lenses, like you said. RF 24-70 2.8: 900g EF 24-70 2.8 II: 805g Now, the RF version does have IS, but still. The 70-200 2.8 and the super tele 100-500 are at least over half a pound lighter than their EF counterparts (plus the extra 100mm reach on the RF 100-500 over the EF 100-400). The Z mount throat diameter got a whopping 8mm increase over F mount, which accounts for a lot of that lens weight.
  2. Hell yes, that is awesome!
  3. Losail is front(tire)-limited, which suits Merc better, and Red Bull worse (Red Bull exceeds in low speed traction zones, which is what would make a circuit rear-limited). Merc does also seem to have a narrower setup window than RB, but clearly they have found something that is working well there now. So while Merc are doing great, some of it this week was Red Bull falling back a bit.
  4. Carlos was determined to have lifted. If his had been under double yellow he probably would have gotten a penalty, but avoided it this time.
  5. They are beautiful but gotdam I love the black and will be sad to see it go as well. It’s bittersweet, really. I do think the W11 is my favorite car ever.
  6. Yep. Ironically, if those other drivers get penalized, it will promote Gasly to P2!
  7. It actually got destroyed by his front wing failing.
  8. Precedent is 3 for a single yellow (which Bottas and Sainz passed) and 5 for a double (which Max passed). So, we will see. FIA doesn’t seem to like to follow precedent this year, but the steward summoning times seem to be 15 mins apart for Bottas and Sainz, and 30 for Max, which may give us a hint.
  9. Charles had a cracked chassis which explains his issues.
  10. This is more exciting than our football team……
  11. It does degrade with use more than they like, so if they think they can win with the older unit here, they can save that big one for the more power sensitive tracks coming up.
  12. Fabrega says Lewis is using the Turkey PU this weekend.
  13. Same boat, and I am pretty sure I will. Gaskin is such an enigma.
  14. Thanks a lot, y’all. Subway is a fuck of a hike. Done it twice now, but the first time was in the spring. Pro tip, do NOT do it in the spring. I have been there….7 times now (and driven thru 2 or 3 more times), and I have concluded that early November is the absolute perfect time to visit. Talked to a 65 year old down there that was on his 6th subway hike. Cool dude. I will try to use some lower res ones for here next time. I know it can kinda clog it up a bit with a lot of full res stuff.
  15. Yes, their engine division is in a separate location, in Brixworth. They started as Ilmor in the 80s and were eventually taken over completely by Daimler. They do make 100% of the power unit stuff, though. None is done by the car side.
  16. 2008 Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
  17. Here ya go
  18. There used to be like official 3 hour long season reviews that would tell you everything without having to invest the time to watch every single race beginning to end. Those may be on F1TV for those years, not sure.
  19. Go watch 2007 and 2008.
  20. No way. It’s not my job to make you change your mind on your own opinion. I do not care what or how you think of anything or anyone.
  21. Pretty salty in here today.
  22. But in other news, Guanyu Zhou was confirmed for Alfa next year. Not really excited about it tbh.
  23. ^ That has always been “allowed”, and Lewis plays it right on the edge, which he’s very good at. He also stayed on the track. But anyway, whatabouting to things that happened 6 years ago doesn’t really benefit the current discussion.
